Where do you live in Macomb? I'm in Chesterfield. When the ice is gone, I start in my canal. Spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, shallow crankbaits, and soft swimbaits produce for me. I start using soft plastics after the snotgrass is gone. Falcon

In the clear water of St. Clair, the two colors that produce best for me are Chartreuse Shad, and Ghost Minnow. In 78, and 100 size. Falcon

I have a mom & pop shop less than a mile from my house, but I have more tackle than they do. They cater more to the live bait crowd.(the walleye geeks) For a decent store I have to travel 22 miles to the other end of the lake, and they don't always have a good selection. I usually go to BPS. Falcon

OK, now everybody is going to laugh. I can't catch a cold with a tube. I live on one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the country, and everybody says tubes are their go-to smallie bait...............not me. I can catch them with crankbaits, jerkbaits, and spinnerbaits, as soon as I put on a tube, I may as well grab a sandwich, and Dr. Pepper, because my fishing is done. Falcon
