Who cares how many "likes" you get, just try to be as helpful as you can and don't worry about what your like number says.

Keep some of the small ones, and if you don't like fish just give them away to someone who does. I fish in a couple small ponds that are overpopulated with little bass, so I always bring home limit from those ponds and keep some for myself, and give some away to other people that love fish but can't afford to buy fresh fish and don't fish.

Thanks for the reply, I will be throwing swimbaits in the 1-2 ounce range, mostly the six inch line thru trout and mid sized rats.

So I have a gift card for gander mountain and I am looking to buy a cheap swimbait rod with it. My budget is fifty dollars, I was thinking of getting the lews laser graphite series casting rod in the 7'4" heavy moderate/fast model, does anyone have any experience with it? Or does gander have a better swimbait rod for under fifty bucks that you would recommend?

What is your favorite size and color of Buzzbaits, and your favorite brand? Also, do you guys use trailers and if you do, what is your favorite trailer?

Would you guys suggest using a size 30 or size 40 Spro rat if I am not looking specifically for monsters but more for fifteen plus inch fish?

Fished this afternoon for a couple hours. I had a friend with me, so I spent most of the time untangling and getting him un snagged. Only managed to catch five bass, all on frogs fished over weeds.

Cable's has the pfluegar president and tourney trail combo on sale for seventy dollars. Given that the president is a great budget reel and is normally only ten to twenty dollars less than the combo on its own anyway, it's a great deal getting the rod for ten bucks. It still was an extremely expensive day, but it made me feel a little better cause I only paid fifty dollars for the villain.

I once broke a villain while trying unsnag a pointer, had a friend ruin an entire spool of tatsu, lost four pointers, one megabass, two blade baits, and seven Ned rigs. At the end of that day I was ready to scream.

It is technically a jig, but when I think of jigs I think of skirted jigs. I was just suggesting trying some of the other Midwest finesse retrieves made by experienced Ned riggers like Ned kahde.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but do you guys know of any decent swimbait rods for up to two ounce swim baits for under 70$?

Well, I guess that's settled.

Nice fish! But a Ned rig isn't really a jig, so I think your results will be multiplied if you try the swim/glide and shake retrieve. Basically you cast it out, and allow it to sink to the right depth while constantly and lightly shaking your rod tip. If it makes it to the bottom slowly reel it in a few feet while lightly shaking your rod tip. After moving it a few feet stop shaking it and allow it to glide back to the bottom on a tight line. But the nice thing about it is the bass like it so much they will usually bite it to some degree no matter how you retrieve it.

Fished this morning for almost four hours. Caught twenty three bass, all on a spook fished parallel to banks with submerged grass. The fish for the most part were on points, with a few still just inside the coves. Picked up two more cats yesterday, a 32.5 inch long fish and a 31 inch. I don't know why all of the catfish are the same size, I haven't caught anything this year over 33 inches or under 30.

I'd be surprised if it makes it till tomorrow morning.

A mushroom head mold from do-it with a wire keeper, 2 each in the sizes 1/32, 1/16, and 3/32 for Ned rigs. Much easier (and it would be nice to be able to use other sizes besides 1/16) than pouring one head at a time and having to make my own wire keepers that don't last very long.

Almost never. I fish daily for five to six hours on average and have never had braided line deteriorate.

The only time I use them is if I'm fishing with kids. Casting distance is tiny, most drags are horribly jerky, and the gear ratio is usually an ultra slow 3:1.

Yep. It works just as well in streams as it does in lakes. Every summer I always set aside a couple days for wading small rivers, and the only two things I bring are a Ned rig and a small grub.

It works just as well as floro with a few differences. Namely, mono has better knot strength, and if you fish in very clear water floro is more invisible but I don't really think the fish are that line shy anyway. So the answer to your question is that it works and works well.

What were you using?

If it's for use as a leader, I would recommend getting either line designed for leaders or tatsu. But for use as mainline, red label is what I would recommend, unless you can afford tatsu which from what I heard (I haven't ever actually tried it) is the best.
