Have you tried putting a trailer hook on them? Do they still walk with a trailer hook? just last week I caught one on a finesse frog that weighed 5.1 pounds!

I have found that bass will actually follow carp around, probably feeding on the invertabrates and crawdads that the carp unbury while rooting around in the bottom. I have witnessed this many times while fishing a clear water gravel pit with 20+ feet of visibility. Whenever I see a carp I always cast right next to it (unless I am trying to snag it, which I usually do) and often catch a good bass before the lure hits the bottom.

Was it an auction or is there still more for sale right now? If they are still for sale I'm gonna jump on it.

I have been looking to get another broadcasting set-up to upgrade my old gallion combo. It will be a general purpose rod for throwing baits anywhere between 1/4 ounce up to 1.5 ounces. What do you guys think about the Lew's American hero reel, mach 1, academy mettle, or the mg speed spool? The Lew's lfs has been very highly recommended, but I would like to save a little money if possible, unless the lfs is far and away the better deal.

Another thing you could try is the new shroomz micro finesse jig, it comes with a lite weed guard.

Maybe it's true, or maybe not. But I really don't care, that is the funniest thing I've read all week.

I buy them from a guy that uses a mushroom jig mold modified to hold a thin brush guard, but if I run out of those I Texas rig them on a #1 ewg hook with a 1/16 ounce pegged bullet sinker.

That's actually a myth, bass don't have any Y-bones at all, and I would know by the number of bass I have cleaned. I prefer to eat other species of fish like crappie and white bass, but there are a few ponds that are way over populated with 8-12 inch fish that are stunted and need to be thinned out. I take a limit of dinks home from those ponds home every time I go, simply because that is what the ponds need in order to have enough food to go around so that it can grow bigger bass. I sometimes eat them myself, but usually I give them away to someone who loves to eat fish but can't afford to buy fresh fish and doesn't fish.

I've been fishing a lot lately. Almost every morning from 6:30 -12:00 and again from 2ish till 6:00 and sometimes in the evening to. Still getting them on the frogs and senkos, although unfortunately the weeds are severely reduced by the frequent weed treatments. I usually start out fishing points and any scattered weeds I can find early, then switch to skipping deep docks and fishing in what little surface vegetation there is left. Picked up another big one a couple days ago on the junior pad crasher, this one weighed 5.1 pounds! Almost in the exact same area as the last five pounder, just one dock away from it. I checked for hook holes to see if t it was the same one and had lost some weight, but didn't see any. Started out this morning fishing for largemouth when a huge school of white bass erupted on the surface, so I tied on a small white rooster tail with a small grub twelve inches behind it. I followed the school around for an hour or two, usually they don't stay on the surface that long. Anyway, over the course of an hour or two I caught a total of 43 white bass with a large part of them being doubles on the same cast. I know most people don't like white bass, but i do not see why. They fight harder pound for pound than almost any freshwater species, with the exception of river smallmouth and wiper/striper. I had a lot of fun chasing the feeding frenzy around and catching the feisty white bass two at a time, it was a nice change to bass fishing.

Definitely. Yep, that's kind of the way it is in my lake. I have only caught four smallies this year, but none where under two pounds and my pb smallmouth weighed 5.4 pounds (for Indy that's huge).

Sorry to bother you again. Is the slender pointer still your favorite on lakes that don't have any smallmouth to speak of? The description says it was designed for smallmouth but I doubt it really matters.

Most likely largemouth are the dominant species in that lake, but it could also be where you are fishing and what you are using.

If you don't mind me asking, How was he "trained"?

Both times I was dealing with pure fishing, which owns/is but isn't FFO, Abu Garcia, Fenwick, etc.( confusing but it's what the customer service guy said)

What is you favorite casting reel for under one hundred dollars?

Well, I got the rod last week. First time out with it I broke fifty pound braid on the very first hookset with thirty yards of line still attached to the frog. Thought it was kind of strange but didn't think much of it. After repeating this for the next two or three times in a row, I looked the guides over to see if that was the problem. Turns out one of the guides has a large chip out of it and was cutting my line, I tested this by rubbing a piece of my line against it and it readily broke with little pressure. So I talked to FFO's customer sourvice and they said they would have to send me a return label, then when it finally gets here I send it back in for them to look at. If they correctly determine it is not my fault they said that they will send me another one, but the whole process will most likely take a month to a month and a half. The rod felt nice in my hands and the power and action seemed perfect for frogs, but I a kind of frusterated from the wait. I probably won't be able to use frogs on it this year but I guess there is next year. When my villain broke they just asked for pictures instead of having to send it in, don't know why they won't do this with a 20 dollor rod but they will with a fifty dollor rod. Sorry for venting a little.

Thanks for the help! Do you think the rcstx jerkbait is a very good knock off of the vision 110? Could it be a decent substitute for a flash pointer?
