Does anyone have any recent crappie reports out of cagles mills? I'm planning on going there despite the winds and cold front, does anyone have any advice on how to fish cold fronts for crappie?

Is the boyd ducket gunfish imitation as good as the lucky craft gunfish? If not, then what's the difference? It looks like a pretty good copy, except for much cheaper.

I don't have a dedicated frogging rod yet, (I ordered one but it came broken thanks to ups, so I returned it two months ago and still haven't gotten it back) but I use a repaired spinning rod that broke in half and lost a few inches off the tip. I had a friend who makes custom rods fix it by splicing the two pieces together with a ultra light blank covered with epoxy, which makes it have a very solid back bone with a slightly softer tip perfect for launching junior sized frogs. I personally prefer to use a spinning rod for frogs when skipping docks, and since that is a huge part of what I use them for i'm gonna stick with spinning rods. I haven't had any problems with not having enough power to horse the bass out of the muck, but my lake doesn't have ultra thick weeds.

Can it cast as light of lures as a reel with centrifugal brakes? Is it very easy to palm, i prefer a low profile reel for walking baits and jerkbaits?

Yep, it sure does stay on your lure for weeks on end. There is no need to reaply that stuff, it never washes off.

I spilled a bottle of that stuff in my tackle box once, and it has reeked of garlic since then. It also melted a bunch of my lures, I didn't know it would do that. Also, good luck getting the garlic smell and sickly yellow coloring from your hands and clothes, I had to throw away my clothes when I did that, and smelled like garlic for weeks. Plus my hands looked like they had something seriously wrong with them, I got some weird looks for a bit.

Thanks, I have not heard anything on the ned rigging mold. If I see anything about it I'll let you know, I sure hope they do end up putting it on the market.

What's your favorite color of stutter step?

Has anybody had any experience, good or bad, with pfluegar's president baitcasting reel or the stutter step?

I watched a couple videos on the new stutter step, and looked good but I don't want to be sucked into buying it just because it looked great in a video. Has anyone tried it yet, and what do you think about it?

This. GCYB senkos are so darn fragile and expensive that I only use them in tournaments, otherwise I just use a knock off like a dinger. I usually only get one or maybe two fish per senko, but one way to save senkos is after the tip gets torn up (if you're lucky enough to still have the senko attached to your hook) from t-rigging, wacky rig them so you might be able to get another fish out of it.

I use a cheap berkley 7' medium heavy rod that is rated for 1/2-1 ounce baits, going a little over the lure rating never bothered me and it doesn't feel overpowered when I cast my 130 size whopper plopper.

Managed to slip out for an hours fishing tonight. The bass aren't stacked up where they were yesterday, they seemed to have scattered again. Found some scattered fish on a large flat with scattered weeds in 1-5 feet of water off of a point. Managed to catch ten bass with two over fifteen inches, the highlight being a 19 inch smallmouth (there aren't squat for smallie's in this lake, I have only caught three this year). I don't catch very many smallie's, but they sure are a lot more fun to fight than a largemouth with all of the jumping and just all around energy. I wish we had more smallmouth. Eight out of ten bass including the smallmouth hit a pop-r, the rest were caught on half of a zinkerz.

Yep, the nice thing with using perch meat for bait is it only takes one worm to catch a limit of perch. I have also done this for rainbow trout in light current, except I put it on a drop shot.

Fished in the scattered storms this morning for a couple hours. I surprisingly did really well given the water temperature dropping four degrees over night to 72, I figured that would mess them up for a day or two. I was throwing a loon colored whopper plopper while it was raining, and when the rain cleared off I switched to half of a zinkerz. The whopper plopper was fished on points and shorelines in 2-8 feet of water, and the ned rig for some reason worked best in the narrow window of nine to eleven foot range on drop offs, I found these fish on my depth finder and dropped it down just to see what they were. Turns out they were bass, and a whole lot of them packed into a tiny little area. Ended up with a total of 34 bass in about three hours, nine bass over fifteen inches and big bass weighing 3.8 pounds

Does tw have different items on sale for the 25 days of Christmas every year, or do they have the same stuff on sale every year?

Line ratings are just vague and often inaccurate suggestions, i would not worry about using the rod with much lower pound test line or even higher than suggested.

Take clayton's advice and pour them yourself. I use the ned rig a lot, and it got to the point I couldn't afford to fish it because of the jig heads costing a dollar a piece. I know that doesn't sound like much at first, but when you average four days of fishing a week and are sometimes breaking off on a couple each trip it really starts to add up. I purchased equipment to pour my own mushroom heads last March, and it paid for itself as of late July four months later. Another bonus is that you can use whatever hooks you want, it's almost impossible to find the perfect combination of weight/shape/ and hook type and size in a commercially sold jig head.

Not much, it's more dark versus light coloring. Don't get to hung up on the exact right color, Loon and monkey butt or white powder are good colors to start with.

Don't worry about it, they've done a few studies on how long it takes for a bass to spit a lure out when hooked in the mouth that show that it takes at most a few days for them to eject the lure. Fyi, a jig was the lure that took the longest to eject and no bass tested failed to shake itself free from the lure imbedded in its mouth. I have actually witnessed this a coupe times in lakes with extremely clear water, once I broke a bass off with a jerkbait and watched it eject the lure within about five minutes (I was even able to retrieve my expensive jerkbait) Have you noticed how quick a bass is to throw a lure when given slack? The same thing happens when they break your line. I would be more upset about losing the frog.

This. It took me a long time to figure out that using traditional hooksets with tiny hooks don't work, so instead I usually just reel quickly and lift the rod up higher.

Hundreds!!!? Most guys would kill for a chance to catch a single DD bass, you should seriously consider starting a charter business.
