Get a medium lite, that's what I use for jigs under 1/8 ounce. Although a light powered rod is rated for the lure weights you mentioned, you will have a hard time setting the hook on bass. And you certainly couldn't set the hook with a lite power rod on a 3/8 ounce jig.

A suspending jerkbait is a must for pre-spawn fishing. And I would highly recommend the Ned rig for year round, nearly any condition fishing. Other than that, looks like you will have more than enough baits.

Fished for about two hours today, and the bass have already bounced back from the cold front where I live. Total amount was thirteen bass, and better quality ones to. Most were between two and three pounds, with three dinks mixed in. All of the bass were once again caught on the Ned rig, retrieved with a drag and deadstick. The bass were in two to six feet of water on shorelines with vertical concrete. The water Temperature is 54 degrees where I live.

I would try braid, because it is so much more sensitive, it floats, and you can get it in bright yellow. But if you want to stay with mono, big game is the way to go. And like the above poster, I would recommend sticking with lighter jigs, or getting a medium heavy rod.

I would probably use 10 pound mono for the senko, depending on how much cover you are fishing in. For jigs 14-17pound mono would be better, but you might be able to get away with ten pound if there is no cover. And although a medium power rod is perfect for senkos, a medium heavy would be better suited for jigs.
