  1. Never liked the cavitrons, im a booyah guy.
  2. My go-to baits would have to be 4inch Powerworm (redshad, camo, pumpkinseed), 3/16-5/16ounce Black/blue Booyah Baby Boo Jig with a YUM Chunk Trailer in black/blue flk 3.5 inch, 4inch GYCB Senko Cinnamon Brown, or a Topwater frog when the season calls (hollow frogs, softbait frogs, I can usually do pretty good with them). But I gotta say the bait I probably get the most hits with gotta be a 5inch GYCB Kut-Tail (Cinnamon brown, Greenpumpkin) I can usually always catch a bass with that worm, but I rarely bring it out, its a last resort. Because the only way I can buy them is by either going to cabelas/bps etc which is 2 1/2 - 3hr ride, or ordering them online. So they are merely a last resort as I don't want to rip them up, and the sunnies like them too, and tend to rip the tail. I will always throw them during spawning season though, I don't play around when it comes to those beautiful size bass. But any other time during the month or when im looking to catch quality fish im usually throwing a black/blue booyah baby boo jig 3/16-5/16. Ps. I guess I could consider the Fat Ika (black/blue flk) one of my go-to's also.
  3. Man that "real bass" color looks amazing, the most realistic I think I've ever seen on a hardbait. Love how they chose the black feathers on the end hook instead of your average red or white feathers. If you ever see a bass in the water they always have this distinct black color to their tail, enough so you can identify its a bass, very smart they used the black feather, I hope more companies do that with their baby bass pattern baits. I'd love to try one, but 30 bucks is a bit pricey for me on a single hardbait lure.
  4. http://www.sunrizetackle.com/shop/closeout_body.htm How you going to sell jigs and not have the color black/blue?? Man.. what are these people thinking, thats like selling softbaits and not having the color greenpumpkin, this shows me I should get into the marketing buisiness, I'd probably make a fortune .
  5. All . You guys saying you kill em with the senko during spawn, my opinion is the most natural looking baits work best during spawn, so next time your throwing a senko on nests put it down and rig up a GYCB Kut-tail, weedless/weightless, in natural colors such as cinnamon, or greenpumpkin you'll see what im talking about
  6. I have to agree with tin2win, the fish just seem to catch on to them or something, cause I've also noticed they just dont catch in the lakes I fish like they did when I first started throwing them. And yes, everyone around here who bass fishes, mostly the beginners, throw senkos and thats about it. Im tellin you the fish have finally caught onto them, no one around here throws jigs, I don't think Ive seen one person throw one in all the years Ive fished my local lakes, so maybe this is why they love it so much.
  7. I have the live pointer and it really doesn't work to well for me. I don't know why, I mean it looks so nice in the water, but they just don't seem to like it. The slender point works pretty well for me though. Im thinking of buying there Lipless crankbait that has a lip on it, as they say the lip somehow makes it run shallower then a normal lipless crankbait. The waters I fish are pretty shallow, some of them being no deeper then 1-2 feet, so when I fish a lipless crankbait I usually always come up with weeds, although I just deal with it and they catch me a fish or 2 still. But hopefully this lucky craft lipped lipless crankbait won't catch as many so I might produce better. Anyone here use it, and if so what do you think of it? Does it really run shallower then the normal lipless crankbait? The only thing im not looking forward to, is the lake I do best throwing the lipless crankbaits has a high population of pickerel, now I love catching them, and I don't care when they tear up my rapala lipless crankbaits, but when they rip up a lucky craft, im not going to be to thrilled :-/.
  8. Is it just me or have the rest of you drifted away from using senkos? I find myself rarely using senkos, compared to what I used to. I used to pretty much throw them all the time, anywhere I went. They were my go-to bait. But now I barely even use them anymore. When the times are rough I'll throw them here and there but nothing like I used to. I am now using jigs as my primary bait, and if Im not throwing jigs im using spinnerbaits or Fat Ikas, or flipping creature baits into cover etc. And to tell you the truth I have been catching so much more bigger fish now that I don't throw the senko like I used to. Has this been happenin to anyone else? Maybe the senko is just getting old .
  9. Thanks for the info, I plan to go once I get a day off of work. Hopefully I can hook up with a fish, I'll probably try working pencil poppers fairly slow and see if I can get a fish to blow up on it, after my arm starts to hurt from throwing the pencil popper, I'll sit back relax, and wait for the hit with clams.
  10. I like Booyah Baby Boo Jigs in 3/16 - 5/16, and I like strike king bitsy bugs 1/16 - 1/4. But I just bought a few Tru-Tungsten Jason Quinn Jigs, in 1/4 ounce, but the head is so small it doesn't look like a 1/4ounce. They sure look beautiful and you can tell the skirts are definetly quality. I don't know if there going to perform, but I plan to try them out once spring comes around, or when we get a abnormally warm day in March. As for colors I usually use black/blue, browns, greenpumpkin/watermelon colors, and black (I kill them with the black when the water is muddy). I'll also throw white on occasion with a single tail white grub as a trailer and fish it a little quicker then you would normally fish a jig, I don't do this often, but sometimes it does the trick. Oh yeah, almost forgot, for my basic trailers I'll use basiclly anything with claws. I'll cut a Berkley Chigger craw in half so it fits better on the jig and use it as a trailer, GYCB Fat baby craw, GYCB Hula grubs, Zoom Speed craws cut in half etc. My favorites though are YUM Chunks (I'd say this has to be my best producer) 2.75 inch or 3.5 inch, Zoom Super Chunks 3 1/2 inch, and Netbait Paca Chunks, the Netbait Paca Chunks are simply amazing, the action is insane, but the claws rip fairly easy, and for 6 in a pack, and since I also have to order them online cause no one around here sells them, its kinda annoying that the claws rip. For trailer colors I just match the trailer color to the color of the jig.
  11. But I probably will use a heavy action sooner or later, I Bought the rod before I even made the post, so im stuck with the medium action, just trying to make the best of it. Hopefully it goes well.
  12. Yes but if its a real nice fish I would get to go swimming for him, and If I mounted him just imagine that fish story man... You know what I mean? Every time someone asked me how I caught that baby I could say "yep... got him on a medium action pole, couldn't bring him out of that thick cover so I went in there after him, faught him fist to lip, and well we can see who won" Now don't you think thatll make a better fish story then "Yep I hooked him in a real thick stick pile and ripped that baby right outta of it with my heavy aciton rod, lipped him and here he is on my wall"
  13. I rather a big fish have an advantage over me, then bring him in easy. I want a fight, im fishing recreational. So I'll take the chance of losing the fish with the benefit of if I catch him, itll be a beautiful fight worth while. I can understand in a tournament you want to get that fish in the boat immediately, but its all fun and games for me. If I lose a jig here and there so be it, I don't mind buying more, the ones I buy are 2$-2.50, so its no biggie. All in all I rather catch the fish and have it give a nice fight, or not catch the fish at all.
  14. Yeah I thought the heavy would be best, I chose the medium because I love using the light rods, so I tryed to get away with the Medium 6'6", hopefully someday I can pull myself away from the light stuff when it comes to freshwater, and try the heavier rods, the fight is just so amazing on the light poles, but then again your sacraficing fight for hookup/catching the fish :-/. Also the jigs I like to use are usually no bigger then 5/16 ounce. But what do you mean about a rod with a fast tip?
  15. Heres some spider jigs, all they need is the jighead, http://www.***.com/catpage-SBSPIDER.html
  16. I have been creating a combo specificly for throwing Jigs/flipping soft baits into stick piles, lillypads, breaking through weeds etc. So I just wanted to know what you think of what I chose so far. I bought a 6foot 6inch Medium Power Fast Action St Croix Rod. For line I chose 15lb test PLine Fluoroclear, I wanted 12lb test, but they only had 8lb and 15lb :-/, at Dicks this is. The rod recommends 8lb-12lb, so hopefully it all goes well. So what do you guys think so far? Are my choices fairly good? What lb test/line do you use on your jigging/flipping rod? I still need a reel for this setup, so I could use a recommendation on one, looking for something that has a good amount of ball bearings (basiclly meaning its got a nice smooth feel) It also has to be a spinning reel, but I don't want to spend anything over $120, any ideas?
  17. Just wanted to know, when do you choose Spider Jigs, over the average Skirted Jig?
  18. How do you rig it wheres its free swinging? Don't you need the rubber tubing over the eye to keep it on the hook?
  19. Wow, I wonder if hes got the guts to try a few casts with it .
  20. How much was it? I didn't get to see, it says bidding is closed .
  21. For bass I personally think its trash and that theres much better softbaits out there for bass such as GYCB, ZOOM, Powerbait Etc, but for saltwater fishing its amazing. The only gulp product I'll use for bass is the 6inch Nightcrawler for when im looking for a cheap counter part to the GYCB Kut-tail simply because I don't wanna tear the GYCB's up. But its still no comparison to the Kut-tail worm. Every other freshwater Gulp product Ive tryed was stiff, or bent or what ever, it just wasn't something I would call good. I believe the action of the bait is what gets the bass to hit it, the scent is what takes place when the fish has the bait in its mouth, now how is the fish going to hit the bait when the action isn't good? Sacraficing action for scent is stupid IMO.
  22. Hmm, I don't use spoons at all when it comes to freshwater, but I do use them alot for bluefish, and when I do this I use a steel leader with a clip that attaches to the spoon, and on the opposite end a barrel swivel to tie your line onto. I wouldn't tie the line directly to the spoon though, I did this once casting it off jettis, and it went flying off into the sunset on like the 20th cast...never to return again.. and this was with 30lb test I believe.
  23. Man, looks like a nice lure, if only it came in a smaller size :-/.
  24. One more question I got is, Ive heard people say they put a peice of a rubber worm on the hook shank when rigging a pork chunk on the jig. They say the rubberworm peice, keeps the pork chunk from sliding down the hook, do you do this? And another thing do you hook it through the fatty side, so the skin side is on the top? or do you hook it where the hook goes through the skin first, and the fatty side is on top?
  25. Hmm, I don't think there is any hole punched through the pork frogs I bought. Can I still rig them right through the center, and be able to remove them from the hook after using?
