  1. Sunfish (because they don't put up a fight and they rip the tails of some expensive softbaits >), and Stargazers (because they have so many defensive mechanisms its unreal, and I hate taking the hook out or trying to release them, plus they are as ugly as they come).
  2. Or an empty pill bottle. Just wash it out extremely well, who knows what type of scents are in there .
  3. I plan to try a new jig so I can put some use to the jigs I have and just haven't used yet. I have had luck with 3/16 - 5/16 Booyah Baby Boo jigs (black/blue) at this lake, but Im thinking of trying either a 1/4 Bleeding Bitsy Bug Jig in Black/blue w/red strands. Or a 3/8 Evolution Jig in Black/blue. My past success on the booyah was flipping it into pads or stickpiles. So which of these 2 jigs would you suggest? The Bleeding Bitsy Bug Jig, or the Evolution Jig?
  4. By the way, what size hook you using when flipping them chigger craws?
  5. Yeah im with Avalonjohn, I seen them and thought they looked pretty stupid hah. But im not a fish, so who knows.
  6. I really like the Paca Chunks the action on them is insane, but the claws break off pretty often, any solutions to this problem? I don't think there even worth using if the claws are going to just keep comin off, going to be too expensive havin to keep buyin new packs.
  7. If I was to answer this I would have to list every time of the year/weather conditions/lake or river im fishing/water level/water clarity/structure im dealing with and the list goes on. So it is simply too hard of a question to answer in a form of a post. My post would go on for pages after pages. Sorry too hard for me . I can tell ya this though, during this time of the year with the falling temperatures I'd use small jigs, small rapalas or yozuri's, lipless crankbaits and maybe some small spinnerbaits or chatter/boogie baits. I'd also fish them as slowly as I could make myself without losing patience (which is fairly slow at the moment heh). My best producer lately has been small jigs flipped in and around cover in the back of rivers or rivers that a lake flows into, and in lakes a TINY bit larger jig flipped into cover such as sticks/pads. Good Luck and sorry I couldn't answer the entire question.
  8. Can you post a link to them? Ive searched on google, but Can't seem to find them.
  9. Ive tryed it and its pretty good but its a pain to get it off your fingers. Its also goes on pretty thick, and can be seen on the plastic bait, I personally dont like the stuff, to messy for me heh. I'll stick with my megastrike .
  10. I just lost my cell again today >. I look at my waist where my clip is that holds my cell phone, and the friggin clip is there with no phone in it. Somehow the phone must have came out of the clip, and fell. Anyway I tryed tracing my steps back, but with no luck. I then went home and borrowed a friends cell and when I tryed calling it, it instantly went to voicemail (and was not a reception problem). I was wadering a bit to so theres a good possibilty it fell into the water. What can ya do though, I know it'll happen again, thats just somethin we got to deal with as fishermen I guess :'(. I bought a new cell before the day ended and its the same model as the one I lost so im happy. I also bought a different style clip that the guy swears to me won't lose the phone. But I know the phone could be friggin glued to my fore head I'll still manage to destroy it/lose it some day, like I said its just some ugly feature that comes along with fishin heh, hopefully I don't lose or break another cell in a good 5 years. >. Ps. I caught a good 3lber so atleast I got somethin to brighten my day up a bit, was missing alot of hits though. I was using a Watermelonred Baby Brush Hog pegged with a small bullet weight and a 3/0 size gamakatsu. Maybe the pegging was the reason of all the missed hits, but its the only way to get through the sticks/pads without problems :-/.
  11. Isn't the pflueger bag the same thing just different logo? I have the pflueger bag, and the only difference I see from this picture is the logo.
  12. Like Big T I also caught a remora and thats probably my strangest fish. I caught it off a jetti using a gulp on a jig head for fluke. Don't know what it was doing that close in to shore, maybe there was a shark nearby hah ;D. I couldn't tell the back of the fish from the belly, was so weird. I didn't have a camera on me so I couldnt get a picture, but it was about 28 inches im guessing.
  13. I caught a bluegill on a Fat Ika, I don't know how he possible got the 4/0 hook in his mouth, but I got him lol.
  14. What color/size slug-gos you find most productive?
  15. Ive caught catfish on a Spinnerbait, a Plastic Worm, and a Jig, atleast they give a nice fight heh.
  16. Hey, I plan to do some striper fishing from the surf sometime soon and wanted to know whats people usually use this time of the year. I like to plug because its more fun then waiting with bait, but if I have to use bait I guess I can. Anyway I usually do alot of plugging off the surf for striper in the summer, and I know in the summer they hit alot of topwater pencil poppers, and school bus pattern Bomber swimmers. But for the fall im clueless on what works. Now I know largemouth bass don't usually hit topwaters as often when the water becomes cold, is this the same for striper? Or does topwater work even in the cold water for the striper? Also are there any key patterns in color to try and go for? I know there are certain bait fish running certain times of the year, and they usually try and match that. So what colors and plugs do you find best particularly through october to december? Any help would be greatly appreciated ;D.
  17. Happened to me too. It was trout season and I was killing the trout. Had about 7 of em on a stringer and I caught a eighth. As I was leaning down to pull the stringer up and add the eighth trout I somehow dropped the stringer. Anyway I went down to try and grab the stringer, as I was doing this the eigth trout managed to get back in the water, and the stringer was still out of reach. I slid down a little bit further to try and grab the stringer and slid face first down into the river, with my cellphone and cd player in my pockets. The water had to be atleast 4 1/2 feet deep, luckily there was someone walking along side the river who helped me back up, cause it was on a incline so it would have been a real pain tryin to get out without swimmin to the other side of the river. I did get my stringer back though, and lost no fish other then the eigth that fell back in >. I let me cell dry but it never worked the same, the cd player worked though . I bought a new cell after that happened, and hopefully it doesn't happen again hah.
  18. My favorite rubber skirted Jig so far is a Black/blue or Watermelonred Booyah Baby Boo Jig, in 3/16 ounce for fishing in cleaner less weedy areas, and 5/16ounce for flipping into pads/cover. For trailers, I have 3 that are my favorite, either Yum Chunks (black/blue or Greenpumpkin), Zoom Super Chunks (black/blue or greenpumpkin) and Netbait Paca Chunks (black/blue or greenpumpkin). I also like Strikeking Bitsy Bugs and Terminator Finesse Jigs in the smallest size I can find for fishing rivers, and for a trailer I just use the smaller sizes of the Trailers I listed. And about your question with Jigs immitating crawfish, with the trailers I use im guessing these jigs will immitate craws hah. Good Luck .
  19. What do you do to calm yourself down after you lose a real nice fish? You see I went out today, and caught 4 bass, one was a dink, one was 2lbs, one was 2 1/2lbs, and one was a nice 5lber. And before the day ended I hooked up with another one, that im guessing was 4-5 because it put up a hell of a fight, and then in the middle of the friggin drag zippin out, the hook pops out, I was so friggin ticked... so ticked!!! > I can't even say the words that were flyin out of my mouth :-X. So what I would like to know is how do you guys deal with the anger after losing a real nice fish? And I also missed some other hits, but they were just taps/tugs that spit it before the hook could stick them . Ps. All were caught on a Black/Blue Booyah Baby Boo Jig 5/16ounce with a Yum Chunk Trailer 3.5 inch black/blue flake, flipped into lillypads/stickpiles/overhanging bushes and trees. (Yum Crawfish Spray, as scent)
  20. Anyone try these softbaits yet? I thought they might be good for flipping. They say to rig it with a bullet weight screwed in to the top head, and the hook inserted through the bottom end, called it the okeechobee rig. I don't know I was just thinking of riggin it with the hook through the top end and a bullet weight pegged above the hook, like a normal lookin texas rig. Any of you try this bait yet? Here is a link of it incase you don't know what it is (its not a buzzfrog type bait)http://www.***.com/descpageUNCLESOFT-SJT.html#.
  21. Is there any cover? Like small lillypad patches or stickpiles? If so try a small jig either black/blue or a green color, and flip it to the cover, thats how Ive been gettin em lately. With this rain the water should be murky, so I'd use a black jig. Another thing you can try is a spinnerbait, or a softjerk bait like a Super fluke, or Powerminnow rigged weightless/weedless.
  22. Ive had my greatest luck with this lure fishing it with quick jerks and lettin it pause for a quick 3 secs, followed by more jerks all the way in. Although I don't do anything great with this lure, but it does catch fish.
  23. I trim mine to about the hook point, maybe a dot above that, like brokejew said. I also cut a few strands from the main root of the weed guard, like 4 strands, just so its less stiff and the hook penetrates it easier. And I also use a nail clipper to trim the jig.
  24. I heard some talk about it being good as a jig trailer, but anyone try it as a flipping bait? Just want to know if its a good bait, so if I should see them should I pick up a bag or 2.
  25. You try using a heavier jig? Sometimes when my jig is bringing up weeds I'll switch to a heavier jig, and it breaks through the weeds better, and when it does get caught up, I can usually rip it out and continue to fish. Also maybe try using a jig that you haven't trimmed the weed guard, and see if this makes a difference. You can also try using a Fat Ika, that rips through the weeds fairly well for me, or swimming a spinnerbait, or chatterbait right above the weeds maybe. Just giving a few tips that might help ya out, good luck .
