fat ikas
Yeah I definetly wouldn't add any weight to the Fat Ika, that thing is heavy enough .

Color Of Frog?????
I use Greenpumpkin, or any other green color including chartruese. I also like the frogs with a white belly.

Berkley Gulp and Power bait
The Powerbait worm colors that work best for me are Motor Oil, Watermelon seed, Camo, and Red Shad.
-
New to Bassin
You should look into buying a pack of senkos particularly in Green Pumpkin or Cinnamon Brown. Great bait.

Whats your favorite Propbait?
Just curious to see what your favorite Propbait is. Mine would have to be a Heddon Tiny Torpedo in baby bass.

Berkley Gulp and Power bait
Never did too well with the gulp freshwater series, but I hear some good things about it once in awhile. For berkley I do best with the 7inch and 4inch powerworms.

Good Plastic for a Beginner
Try a YUM Buzzfrog during the summer/fall rigged weedless/weightless. Just keep the pole tip high so the bait stays on top, and retreive just like you would a buzzbait. Retrieve this frog directly over weeds/pads/stickpiles and anything else you can think of. They'll nail it, other good soft plastic frogs are Stanley Ribbits, Sizmic Toads, and Zoom Hornytoads.

Bass on the beds
I fish during the spawn and will attempt to find beds to fish. Yes I know the eggs can be eaten by gills if you pull the fish off the bed but here in NJ its not often you see 5-6lb fish hanging out 2-3 feet off shore. So when I do see them I certainly don't turn my back. Sorry its just too good to pass up. 5-6 lber sittin there and im suppose to just move on and not bother it?!? I don't friggin think so..

Plastic smell !!!!!!!
Cover it up with megastrike or Carolina Lunker Sauce.

Snag proof frog original.
I am a victim of this bait. I used to use the Original Snag Proof frog, until I discovered the scumfrog/bronzeye frog. I had tons of hits on the Original snag proof but missed 75% of them. And yes I didn't set the hook immediately, I'd give the fish a good amount of time with the bait and still miss the fish on the hookset. I believe this frog is too hard bodied in my opinion and the hooks aren't placed right nor are they sharp. Thats just my opinion but I'll stand by it. I will never use one of these frogs again. I missed just too many fish on this frog... way too many. Try the scumfrog, its alot softer and IMHO it has by far alot better hook up ratio then the Original Snag Proof. Lets see how long you will say "ah it had to be a coincidence that I missed the fish, it couldn't have been the bait" before going into a crazed rage flipping out. Because for me it took about 12-18 hits before I finally went screwy.

Most productive colors for the following lures?
Tubes: Never used Fluke: Baby Bass or White Senko: Cinnamon Brown or Greenpumpkin

walking worm
Lets just say my friend bought these awhile back off the tv in a attempt to outfish me (which he never does). Like always I outfished him and I don't recall him catching anything with these worms. They did help me though, made my victory a little bit sweeter then average ;D. Your alot better off buying a pack of GYCB senkos or powerworms then you are bothering with these... and I mean ALOT better off.

What softbait works best for you in stick piles?
I have been fishing a small pond recently that has alot of stick piles on the shoreline. Im talking the entire one side of the pond is all small stick piles on the edge of the pond. What softbait works best for you in these piles and what rig do you use? Im thinking maybe T-rigged culprit 7.5inch weightless?

Which Bait Would You use?...

yum
I use megastrike. It doesn't hurt to add it to a bait so why not use it? Im just curious if there is a such thing as "too much" scent. If I add megastrike to a powerworm can this be bad? Will the scents combine to make a scent that doesn't taste as well? Because if I put ketchup on fries there good, but if I throw some dr.pepper and some A1 steak sauce on top im pretty sure it won't taste to good.

Good scents to put on baits...?
Would you add scent to a bait that is already scented? Do you think this will make the bait too flavorable? lol. Like would you put Megastrike on stanley ribbits. (which are garlic scented)?

must have bass lures??
Get some creature baits like YUM Wooly hawgtails, GYCB The Kreature, Zoom Baby Brush hog. Also I would get some softfrogs/hollow frogs. For hollow frogs I recommend Scumfrogs or Spro Bronze eye frog. For soft frogs YUM Buzzfrog, Zoom Horny Toad, Stanley Ribbit. I would also look into getting a pack or two of Fat Ikas if you don't already have them. For hard baits I would buy a few Xraps and husky jerks. And for topwaters Jitterbugs, Tiny Torpedos, Hula Popper, and some type of chugbait, like a Xcalibur Pop-r, or a rebel Pop-r or chugbug etc. Senkos I can imagine you have them already and if you don't then your really behind times so I won't even bother recommending to buy them. And lastly I would also suggest buying a few booyah spinners, and either booyah buzzbaits or cavitron buzzbaits. Happy shopping ; .

Water Proof boots leaking, anyway to fix them?
I have these water-proof boots Ive been using lately. They come up about knee high. The only problem is they have been starting to leak water into them. It seems like the water is coming in from the back ankle part of the boots. I bought these boots at cabelas in the "bargain" area. I wonder why they were in the bargain area... >. Anyway they costed me about 75$ so im hoping there is someway to seal up the leak or something. Here is a link to a pair of boots that look very similiar to them http://img.timeinc.net/fieldstream/bowguide2006/5_302_BOOT.jpg. So is there anyway to fix the leak? Or am I pretty much screwed?

Opening day
I live in NJ and opening day is this saturday. Can't wait although the weather is saying its going to be 30degrees out and snowing during the AM's. I wouldn't miss opening day if it was 10degrees out with freezing rain pouring down. So I'll just have to deal with the weather. Last year it was hailing/raining opening day, I still managed to get 4. I read how all you guys caught 5+ etc. I don't understand how you do this opening day. Here in NJ its extremely crowded opening day and the most I ever get is like 2-4. I think its because of all the bait in the water. Trust me its not that im not a good trout fishermen, after opening day I caught 6-8 a day. Best Ive ever did was 16 in a day, caught my limit and just kept releasing the rest.

Least expensive lure, you have best luck with?
4inch powerworms, they cost about 3 dollars a bag.

What hardbaits/softbaits work for Chain Pickerel?
I have been using hard jerkbaits and they have been producing well for me. But hard jerkbaits are becoming boring to use, and they seem to only catch me quantity not quality. I have heard zara spooks will work for nice pickerel. What do you guys usually use for pickerel fishing? If the zara spook works for good size pickerel im thinking of trying a buzzbait, anyone here ever try a buzzbait for picks?

What softbait works best in shallow water?
What softbaits do you choose to use to fish shallow water? By shallow I mean 1 - 1/2 feet deep. I have been fishing under small shallow bridges and want to know what softbaits you guys would use in this situation. I have been doing ok using weightless GYCB Kut Tail worms and Senkos.

YUM Buzzfrogs Sink?
The Yum Buzzfrogs work great for me. Yes they occasionally turn over, but I can't argue with results. And yes they do sink, I fish them with a steady retrieve, If I want to fish a frog that floats with a pause/go retrieve I'll fish a hollow frog. Although I heard stanley makes a floating plastic frog, but haven't tryed them.
-
YUM wooly hawg
Truly a great bait, I fish mine weightless. One of the best creature baits IMHO.

Best Frog Rig
