I fish alot when I go to my in-laws in elk city. For the most part however, yes I pretty much fish around NE OK. That's a shame because my friends and I love to fish w/ others. I have been all over this great state.

Fivebass, thanks this is exactly the stuff that should be in ONE thread. The whole point was to have one 'place' to point to. Tip, suggestions, things to remember, etc is what I am aiming for. It's to HELP other people.

I would love to see this site have a sticky for articles on how to 'read' your depthfinder. People could post screenshots, and then explain what you're viewing. Links for books on this topic, and or, other articles would be handy too. It seems there is not enough pictures/websites/how-to articles, etc for what you are actually viewing, or how to determine sometimes the difference between grass, rocks, road beds, sticks on the bottom etc The pros here, you all feel like contributing please? Thanks

Here is even more 'food for thought'.........mike long, and murphy etc etc catch these toads........a big number of these impoundments are fairly new. if they can catch a 21'er, then why not CLOSE to Florida??? It's totally crazy (to me anyways) to count that record "out" If they can catch them that big WITH trout feeding etc, on a NEWLY made lake, who is to say that lake "y" in TN, that's been there for 30 years, doesn't house hawgs?

I think it is, but I say so with a different approach. Remember our earth is 75% water. We have "searched" probably a 1/50 of that. We hear about loc ness, about new species that ACTUALLY are found sometimes, etc. When we're fishing we are not really SURE what is in a particular body of water. I will give examples too. My brother caught a 9lb bass in a GOLF course pond, that was MAYBE 25' x 25'. The deepest part was around 8 1/2' The STATE BLUE CAT RECORD, was set at a lake in OK, I fish ALL the time, and I know there are cat's in there, but not 35.15, in a 20 acre lake, that only has 2 acres of it 'deep'.......with dang near NO cover! There is a rentention pond here that houses another 8+ bass and it's even smaller size wise. How about when we hear of new striper records, or this WITH A VIDEO CLIP: " This was killed on Lake Sam Rayburn,Angelina County, Texas a few weeks ago. It is a pending Lake Record and BAA World Record Alligator Garfish." Plus without hardly any fishing pressure back then, a female bass could eat whatever she wanted to, and not be startled by weird sounds, etc. At that same lake with the state blue cat, I fish, they SHOCKED up one that was 9.2. I personally saw someone catch a 8.5 on a jerkbait, and the study of this lake showed numerous fish over 6lb's. Genetics, plus certain bass with serial killer traits........forget about it! We would all die if we saw fish in our lakes we fish I truly believe that. Imagine the ones they shock up, and then imagine the ones they dont

I won't say not because I don't want to tell anyone, it's just my idea, and I KNOW it is something we all would use...........no doubt about that.

I agree. The hope studies makes sense to me, that big bass 'own' that part of the lake for the most part. When I saw that lone bass move that far , I thought that didn't make sense. Also big bass zone book states that big ones don't go to far. Murphy's book I can't remember if he noticed them moving far or not.

I guess I am talking about how he swims/fishes a swimbait for example. Or hey big fish usually hang on breaks on points, etc. He drew drawings but asks the reader, which is best to start at? I could have shown this spot would be for "x" reason, here is how to 'read' topo maps, etc. Some people don't know this for example. These are just examples I can think of right now. I will read the entire book and then reply again.

Well so far I am gaining from it, big bass do what they want, forget all you know about regular fishing, buy more expensive saltwater rigs, because normal baitcasters won't work, nor heavy action rods, etc I sure hope this book gets better....

Has anyone else read this book? I read Murphy's book, and it helped alot, so I got BBZ as a gift. I am only in page 130 of the book, but to me, so far there is nothing technique wise I gaining. I agree on some of his points, etc. Does the book get better?

Wow, now those look great! Honestly I am 190% positive we would all use them for every type bait you can think of, we ALREADY use them for every plastic. It's a modification. I really need to talk to someone who can MAKE things, that also understands N.D.A. contracts.

Man seeing you guys make this stuff really upsets me lol. I have a terminal tackle INVENTION, and can't get anyone of the lure manufacturers to email me back. It's so genius in it's simplicity and it's something I can 110% guarantee we would all use them!!!

On the craknkbait side, try and find a square billed bait that only dives 2-5'...depending on how bad the grass actually is. I personally would be throwing plastics. Worms work year round, and you can fish a worm in every type of cover known.
