  1. anyone have an opinion on the stirke kings foudn at walmart? i just bought thos eto hold me over till i can get to a bass pro. also anyone have any recommendations for an asian profile (meaning wider head with a barely there nose bridge)? I usually have to get metal frames with the adjustable nose pieces.
  2. realy quick, but coudl someone define the months that are in the certain season. i feel dumb for askin this, but november still feels a bit warm.
  3. yeah i jsut recently discovered teh clearance section in the walmarts fishing department here. basically, it is the display models that are for sale. nothing wrong, jsut a little dusty. i actually saw a citica there for sale. so im researching it right now to see if i can use that as a crank set up. any opinions on this? but yeah they have alot of other ncie reels on clearance too.
  4. man that is really disappointing to hear. oh well live and learn.
  5. i just bought a pack in the fire tiger color, just wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on these??? just gonna give em a try just to see.
  6. thanks for the reply guys......i just thought about this stuff cause of another post involving poppers and split rings. again thanks for the info, i already use palomer knots too. keep em comming for other stuff!
  7. hey guys. sorry for the newb questions, but how do you guys tie on a spinnerbait or a buzz bait to your line? i had some buddies say use a snap swivel, and that usually has a tendency to get all funky on my midcast (probably thinking maybe tie the line directly onto it). any opinions would be greatly appreciated. also if you guys have any other suggestions for other lures feel free to post, hopefully this thread can be started for other beginners too. thanks guys
  8. i am very interested, but where is this carlyle lake? hit me up.

man i hate being a noob cause i start discovering all these tempting lures to use. this spoon sounds fun too. i have seen them in action and think hey are fun lol. in terms of rod setup, what should you use? i am guessing since there is a treble hook, you want a little flexibility in your rod and line? just wondering, again im a newb but thanks for your help.
  10. like the subject says anyone need a partner? i would like to participate in this tournament, however i dont have a partner or a boat. please contact me if you need qualifications or anything else. thanks for looking.
  11. i was reading on the website, and i was not sure, but i did not see uf having a college team which was disappointing. i believe on several lists i saw, uf was again not on them. anyone know how this works and if i can still join without being on a team? thanks guys
  12. sweet thanks for the invite. yeah im good to go depending on classes, but i try to make it out after calsses which is usually around 5. but ill definitely give you a holler.
  13. i remember finding one online but could never find it again. anyone know of any in or around town? im new to the fishing scene here and would love to do some hardcore bass fishing here too. thanks guys
  14. yeah im not looking to cast far, of course the basics need to be learned first. however, if there coudl be further detail about how to cast over head....i guess maybe an approximate release point to reference from. thinking back, i dont think i really even konw where to begin. sidearm was easy to figure out, but i tried starting out light and i was still slamming the bait into the water lol. any help woudl be appreciated. but those were great articles to read especially on how to set them up. thanks guys
  15. yeah i did read it, so eventually i will move up to over head casting?
  16. hmmm i apologize if this is under the wrong thread but i just got the daiwa viento (a bit much for a newbie but i figure do it right the first time hopefully). i just used it for the first time and didnt have a big problem with backlash or birds nest (really conservative settings). however i was only successful throwing it side arm. all my overhead casts were rock bombs. how do you guys cast? and would a light side arm be considered a pitch (just tryin to figure out the terminology so i dont sound dumb next time...isnt this alot of inserts lol)? i was using about 3/8's to 1/4 oz. lures. any suggestions or different techinques? or is it that the better i get and the looser the settings are the further i cast? oh yeah my set up consists of the daiwa tierra mounted with a daiwa viento. thanks for you help guys
  17. hey im a pretty hardcore novice, but would my setup (daiwa tierra 6'6" heavy and viento reel) work with this. im tryin to explore more types of lures to use. so far frogs are fun but frustrating and top waters for me are only successful in south florida (im in gainesville florida right now). sorry if im asking things that are already covered in previous posts but im tryin to absorb everything i can. thanks guys.
  18. been reading these forums for a bit as i just got into bass fishing. oh yeah I'm from ft luaderdale but go to school in gainesville. any one around this area wanna show me some good fishing here (i dont have a boat either). thanks guys
