  1. i use a 7 year old jansport school bag recently converted to tackle bag lol. hopefully i can get one of those browning tackle pack backs later. but it does the basic job of holding all my stuff. most of my plastics are in a freezer bag.
  2. anyone have a picture of these?
  3. i have only purchased the 5 " and use anywhere from a 3/0 to 4/0 hook (bps brand) they do catch things on a certain lake i fish but then again its only on the "walls" of the lake (just limestone drop at the shores of the lake. where do you guys usually fish them and then how to do hook them when you fish tose areas. i like wacky rigged just cause its fun lookin.
  4. i bought one last month, but conditions have been too cold to use. but i have just played around with it in the water, and it looks like it has some great action. looking forward to using it this spring
  5. im in florida and went fishing in a lake by my house. first time catching something on a senki too. too bad they were wall huggers (steep natural rock wall) and lost alot of hooks dues to that fact too. but then i threw a booyah spinnerbait in chartreuse. landed a 2#'er, and hooked a nice 3-4#'er but then it threw the bait. i was surprised today, but i guess conditions asked for it since it was cloudy and a little windy. the water condition was also stained to cloudy. i am going to go try to chatter baits soon.
  6. 1:storm chug bug 2:stanley ribbit 3:spro bronze eye up to bat this spring will be the daiwa td mouthwasher and the basirisky japanese frog looking thing
  7. hey guys, by chance anyone konw what all those codes mean at the end? it would be cool to konw cause then it woudl be easier to konw what they do i guess. how do you guys decide when there are like thousands of them to choose from. what would you guys recommend for florida lets say for an outfit setup for topwater/shallow to medium crank? thanks
  8. hey guys, thanks for all your help. i decided to go with a citica 200d. it was the next best choice since they sold out of the curados (in the 6.3:1 ratio). i figure i shouldnt be getting anything so expensive i guess like the curado, but for 84 bucks shipped to my door (new too) im sure ill be fine though. thanks for all the help. but any opinions or observations about the reel would be appreciated. also rod selection for this is appreciated too. thanks a bunch
  9. hmmmm...dang it, now i dont konw if i should get a 6.3:1 or a 5.0:1......anyone chime in? and also for those that have used both, (i cant feel the difference but im jsut interested in proven performance) if there is a big difference between the citica and curado. thanks
  10. yeah im only a newb. the only thing i have done in terms of crank would be med at most. other than that, i have not ever used a deep diver before. the reels that i saw were 5.0:1. do you think i should go higher?like the norm 6.3 (or something like that):1? thanks for all your help.
  11. alright i think slow low ratio it is then, i guess the only thing out there is which reel....the citica or the curado. i am making general outfits unitl i have more money later on to get serious. for now, i want to make a crank/topwater set up. i think for the price, i will get teh curado. anyone with an opinion on this? thanks
  12. yeah i have been reading a couple of threads saying that too, but the thing is, these deals on the citica, curado, and daiwa advantage isnt going to last much longer (sucks cause i jsut found out about it). so i guess im tyrin to find some quick answers. i guess the gearing is just like a car, higher gearing less torque.....lower gearing more torque (translating into hauling a fish in). is there a huge difference in the citica and curado, anyone? i only ask cause i feel i usually have a tendency to suck at judging these lol, but if the performance difference is there, i wouldnt mind spending the extra cash. thats everyone.
  13. alright, so on my long expensive road to buildin up a good arsenal of setups, i come to the cranking set up. i know i cant have the best of both worlds (in terms of finding one universal to shallow, med, and heavy cranks), so i guess ill just chose one for med. I have heard from others, that you want something with a lower gear ratio right? like say a 5.0:1 ish area? i found some really great deals one a shimano citica and curado, both in those gears ratios. but i also saw a daiwa advantage too, but it had an option for high power cranking. what is your recommended specs and reel selections? thanks guys
  14. i tried these for the first time today, but didnt have much luck, caught a really small quarter pounder on a 5 inch wacky rigged senko. i tried texas rigging, and then seing action on another side i quickly reeled back and one tried to snap it top water going really fast. i still want to play with these baits, but again i ask, you are supposed to weightless t-rig there? just tyrin to understand cause i dont understand the motion. for the wachy rig i do though. thanks guys.
  15. im a newbie myself when it comkes to jigging, but like someone said before, once you catch one on it, your confidence will soar. this bait was able to somewhat produce for me yesterday at a tournament when nothign else did, and i also agree that they usually bring in larger fish than other stuff. but jigging is fun and it really forces you to hone your skills handling your rod and reel (hmmm i know that statement could have taken a wrong turn). Its pretty fun what kind of combos and colors you can mix together. The combo and color that has produced for me was a green and red jib with a grub trailer. but again you can mix anything together. oh yeah dont froget, your equipment needs to be up to par in order for jigs to be effective. i have a daiwa tierra s (6'6" mh) and a viento reel. really fun setup. you want something that is stout enough to really set that big single hook the first time and also be able to horse it through and out of cover. have fun with it and be careful, cause jigs can get very addicting
  16. lol again thanks nebassman. one more question, shoudl i include a bead on this?
  17. good stuff nebassman, but i already bought the non screw types. oh well. would you recommend painting the weights black too?
  18. yeah im punching through some pretty thick stuff. is there anyway you can rig the weight so it doesnt slide (unless you want that)?
  19. hey thanks all of you for your help in this matter. justtrying, thanks for the offer but i had to get one soon as im going ot be flipping for a tournament tomorrow lol. anyways i found a daiwa setup for like 110. its not bad but im happy with it and hopefully it will hold me over till i can afford something better. again thanks to all for your help
  20. Hello all. Im flipping for the first time ever and was just wondering how you would rig for this. i believes its a texas rig right just with a 1 oz weight? well then came a question of how you guys stop the weight from free sliding (unless you want this)? thanks for your help guys.
  21. thanks for all the recommendations. reel mech, whats the difference between flipping and pitching then? thanks
  22. Hello all. I jsut recently purchased and recieved a daiwa td mouthwasher and a basirisky soft crawler bait (wierd forg thing). I must say, the craft on the mouthwasher is freaggin gorgeous. the frog is just fun. I normally dont spend this much on lures but they were just impressive. I have a tournament this sunday but i dont think i will have a chance to use it since nothing was biting today (i was prefishing for sunday), plus a cold front just moved through. Hopefully i can provide a better review soon. take care.
  23. Hello all. just discovered somethign pretty fun....flipping lol. I guess i will need a new out fit for this seeing as all the other rods and reels i have dont match up to it (story of my life). So...can anyone recommend me some brands, combos, or anythign for this outfit. Im trying not to break the bank on this one (hopefully less than 100), but i know you get what you pay for so if it is necessary to shell out the extra cash i guess im willing to (unless this type of thing is always over 100). Thanks for all that has looked and replied.
  24. sweet thanks for the replies guys. i have a tournament sunday and this is some useful stuff. i am only gonna have two rods out the first is a mh 6'6" daiwa tierra with viento baitcaster with 20lb braid and the other is a quantum m 7' rod with a light 4 bearing spinnign reel (something i have to hold me over till i can find a better setup to partner with the daiwa setup). i was thinkingof using a frog or buzz on the daiwa setup and texas rigged worm on the quantum setup. or (probably a mistake) popper on the quantum and frog on the daiwa? what do you guys think? thanks
  25. Hello all. I was wondering if you could tell (i guess only for topwater strikes) if the strikes are from anger or hunger? thats just curiosty. but for usefull information, i konw they say to make several cast to the same area so fish can zero in on the target, but what about after a fish has struck but missed? do fish usually strike and if unsuccessful move somewhere else? i know you should cast to the area just in case more bass are holding cover there, but just wondering what happens to a bass after it misses on a strike. thanks guys and gals
