  1. If it was me I wouldn't risk it. I've witnessed too many break offs on 65lb braid due to discount tungsten weights
  2. @MassYak85 said pretty much what I'd say
  3. Does anyone know the rules for pre fishing for the Classic? I've heard that there is an off-limits period, but when is that? I'm honestly just curious. I wonder how nerve-racking it is to not have access to the lake right before the tournament. I also wonder how many of the guys have been practicing for the Classic in unmarked boats so they don't get followed.
  4. Stocking up on knowledge. Now to find the time to read... I haven't read a book all the way through in I don't know how long
  5. You'd be crazy to think small baits can't catch big fish
  6. Decent, accurate scale on sale for $6, free prime shipping. 2 more hours at this price. Link

These scales are on sale on Amazon for the next 2 hours for less than $6 and has prime shipping! They're accurate too, I own one. Here's the link. Normally I'd post this in the latest sale/deal thread, but I'm thinking it'll get more views here because there's only 2 more hours left in the sale.
  8. Most plastics are versatile. You can throw a lot of stuff weightless wacky or weighted wacky or weightless tx rig or light tx rig or heavy tx rig or light carolina rig or heavy carolina rig or split shot rig or neko rig or nail weighted or weighted hook, you get my point . You can work em fast on top (constant reel or soft jerkbait style depending on the lure), work em fast or slow on bottom, constant reel through the middle/bottom or slow crawl on bottom. For this I'm thinking pretty much any curl tail or rage tail. So that's rage tail craw/shad/space monkey, zoom ultravibe's equivalents, etc.

Whew, try the search bar, this comes up a lot
  10. Like Tom said it might depend on your gear's limitations. And you might consider your fishing style. If you fish mostly shallow or from the bank I'd do a slammer or slow sink bull shad. I tend to throw hudds deeper but I just got some rof 5's so I'm gonna throw them shallow this season. For what it's worth, my first swimbait was a Gantarel
  11. My scale isn't that sensitive... a dot & a strip combine to make less than 1/10 of an ounce if that helps

I'd use swimmin super fluke jrs on a small rig
  13. The box tells you diving depth, besides that just ask the guy in the tackle shop for more info. They can't attach a book to each box explaining their whole line of baits!
  14. @TheRodFather @mixel Have you been on Rapalas website? Lots of info, sizing charts, and videos on every lure
  15. @soflabasser & @mixel don't ever fish all day with a $200 rod... your bank account will be drained in no time while you replace every ugly stik you have
  16. @AustinHellickson the bag was $20, the boxes were probably $6 each on average, so roughly $100. You could get boxes cheaper if you looked for sales, I picked them up one or two at a time over a couple years.
  17. Besides the ones I store in the bottom of the lake, this is what I do:
  18. Good guess, 27 pounds! Pretty darn heavy but I don't carry it on my back constantly, it just gets everything from one place to another. If I'm going to be walking long distances bank fishing I have small bags for that.
  19. I recognize that torquing an average fish's jaw isn't detrimental, but I have to say it's still a bad idea because it sets a bad example and it's a bad habit. Glenn said it's like saying one cigarette causes cancer - good point, it doesn't, but one cigarette is a bad idea because it can only go downhill from there. My goal as a graphic design student is to work in the fishing industry one day. Eventually I'll be behind a camera shooting fishermen - I'll make it my goal not to publish pictures of people holding fish in a potentially harmful way so that uneducated viewers don't have a bad example set for them
  20. Not exactly this but I do break out the light and ultra light gear at ponds when I want to catch numbers, tons of fun and when I hook a 1 pounder it feels like a giant
  21. 11.12 lbs on this very 8" Hudd

    I haven't tried it yet, if/when I do I'll update here
  23. Short answer: 2/0 EWG would work fine for all of those Bass fisherman's answer: I'd use a 2/0 or 3/0 offset or EWG for trick worms, 1/0 or 2/0 offset or EWG for finesse worms, and 2/0 or 3/0 EWG for mag finesse worms. That's only if we're talking about Texas rigging. Now, you can also choose between heavy duty / superline or regular gauge / thin wire hooks based on the rod and line you're using and what type of cover you're fishing. You could also use any of those worms on a shaky head, basing your head weight and wire gauge on application and equipment once again. If you are using a texas rig the same thing applies for choosing your weight type, material, and of course, weight. Unless you're throwing weightless.. However if you want to drop shot those you need to decide weedless or regular nose hooking and once again choose hook size and wire gauge based on equipment, depth, weight size, etc. I almost forgot to mention wacky rigging.... What else do you wanna know?
  24. I have a small shopping bag full of crankbaits and jigs that I grabbed on clearance from .88 to 2.88 a piece awhile back, that's about it for unopened stuff. I don't have room in my tackle backpack for any more crankbaits I have plenty of opened but never thrown baits in my tackle boxes though
  25. You won't regret getting a zillion
