Thanks! Do you think paint will affect action?
  2. Ah I've seen these around, mostly at walmarts, for a few years. I've had success on the baby brush hog imitation, never seen or tried any others
  3. The CT platform is significantly smaller than the previous generation. Not as small as the Lews SLP but still small. I think it's pretty much the perfect size. Very close in size to the Curado 70, maybe a tiny bit larger. I have used my roommate's Tatula CT and it's a really good reel, I think you'd be happy with a Type R
  4. My only Shimano is an Aldebaran. I should get more Shimanos
  5. I almost lost the Hudd that caught my PB. I was dumb for throwing it (I want to mount it with the replica) but I did anyways, and caught on a big piece of a tree in 30ft of water... I thought for sure I was gonna break it off, I pulled from every direction and nothing worked. Eventually I put a lot of steady pressure on it to see if the hook would straighten and it started to move a little. I pulled and pulled for several minutes, one crank at a time, and eventually pulled up my Hudd attached to a stick that seemed like it was probably 100 pounds! Gotta love CXX... Needless to say I now keep a lure retriever and that Hudd stays in the house until the replica is ready to be picked up in May
  6. My dad just sent me this picture! I'll be home Sunday, but since everything's wrapped I'm at least gonna wait till christmas eve Now I feel bad though because I didn't wrap mine! I'll have to be more festive about it next year, amateur move

I disagree that 68 is better than the 6. I think the 68 is better for warmer temps because of the thump and the 6 is better for a more subtle approach. You decide which one you're going for. But whichever you choose I don't think the color matters much
  8. I highly recommend Costa 580G lenses, silver and green are the most popular lens colors but I prefer silver
  9. @QUAKEnSHAKE WOW that *** spinbait looks awesome. And I love the way Daiwa spinning reels feel I just don't have the need for one
  10. @.ghoti. maybe some day I'll be able to pull off such a feat...
  11. I personally use an 8' Heavy Daiwa Zillion Swimbait rod and it works beautifully for 8" Hudds (see my profile pic), however it feels a little overpowered when I tie on a 250. I'm really considering the new *** XH for my 250 and future bigger baits. If I were you I'd keep the one you have and get one of the heavier ones mentioned above, basically whichever you can afford.

Well that's certainly good to know... I'll hold off until I get a definitive answer then, thanks for sharing. In the meantime I'm just going to replace the stock hardware and wait on the paint (I was also thinking about dressing at least one of the trebles too)

@Bluebasser86 I'm aware, I just need stuff to do to kill time over Christmas break at home alone and this is a nice big canvas

The times I've used sharpie it seems to come off easily. Should I use a spray on clear coat afterwards? Think they would show up okay on a black bait?
  15. I might have unnecessarily spent money on a pack of split rings then! Oh well, I'm sure I'll use them for something else later. Excited for mine to come in soon. I got Lightning Shad, Blue Chartreuse, and John Murray Bass
  16. The only site that I know posts rod weights is St Croix. I know for sure that you won't find the Lew's weight unless you somehow find an individual's review of the rod that lists the weight, but I haven't seen one.

I have a solid black 9" MS Slammer (lots of surface area!) coming in the mail, and I'm headed home for the holidays this weekend, so I'm about to have a lot of down time. I'm wondering if I can add paint to the already existing solid black paint job. Do I need to do light sanding first to get the clear off? I don't have an airbrush, I would be using spray paint or nail polish or both or whatever else you recommend. I'm not trying to compete with Megabass finishes here, just maybe adding a simple scale pattern or gills or something just for fun. I don't even believe that I will get bit more often if I add paint, I just want to do it for fun. Thanks everyone.
  18. No they don't typically do new years or valentines day. You should really consider getting a Chronarch, they're on sale for $189 right now which is 30% off, and you get your extra 10% because you bought a gift card.
  19. I have used trebles on split rings on a blade bait with bad hooks before and it seemed to run fine! Give it a try
  20. The 2500 will still pick up slightly less line per turn though right? Since the spool is smaller.
  21. KVD throws senkos?? I bet that was painful for him. You do what you've gotta do right
  22. My Zillions came in today. Such beautiful pieces of equipment, and so smooth right out of the box. One is going on my 7'9" AGS flipping stick and the other is waiting for a home. Can't wait till Toledo is full of grass mats again so I can put this thing to work!
