how many canoe fishers out there
Thanks Avid. Storing all my junk in/on that crate sure makes loading and unloading the raft a lot easier.

Shakey Heads
I have to agree with you guys. It has to be the same family. Thier logos are exactly the same and and you don't see the name Bollinger every day.

How often do you guys find Lures?
When I go fishing, I am looking to catch fish. The best way to catch fish is to keep the bait in the water, and to closely watch the line. In addition, one must concentrate on any change in the feel of the line. When I am actively fishing, I could care less about finding lures, unless I'm trying to retrieve my own. ;D

How Many Lures Do You Lose?
bluecraw, that's what I call good old American ingenuity In the future, anyone looking at my inflatable raft and electric trolling motor will wonder why I'm carrying a set of spark plugs. Mike

Shakey Heads
I went to the Tulsa Boat, Sport & Travel Show today and was very disapointed. Almost 500,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, and 495,000 was taken up by boats and campers. I guess that's OK if those are the items you are shopping for, but I wasn't. What I was hoping to find was a fairly large number of small booths populated by Mom & Pop companies who were hoping to tout their wares and expand their market. I found one. Though I have not fished them, they offer a number of what I would consider very high quality plastics at VERY reasonable prices. Plus, they offer a shakey head lure that I have never seen before. It has two hooks. One to hold the worm and the other to hold the fish when it latches on. I want to stress that I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever. I never heard of this compny until this afternoon, but I think their website is worth a visit - if nothing else for shakey head. www.aandmbaits.com

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
One of the many things that gave you away were the $18 flip-flops. They cost about $3 at WallyWorld, but I suppose they would cost $18 if you bought them from North Face. I hear North Face flip-flops are much more comfortable for Alpine climbing. After a short time you can't even tell you are wearing them ;D ;D ;D

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
LBH, in response to your claims of poverty, I have a phrase that I learned down in Cajun country. This version is rated PG instead of the usual R. "Your eyes may shine and your teeth may glitter, but don't try to bullshoot an old bullshooter."

Floating Pliers and sunglasses
In short, no. I see no reason to buy a $20 pair of pliers that float when I can replace the pair I lost for $7. Same thing for sunglasses and everything else I take on the water. The only thing that would bother me if it went overboard would be my rod and reel.

I fish from an inflatable raft. I suffer from space limitations also. Here are a few photos of my instrument console.

Snake-like lures
In reading Doug Hammond's (The Bass Professor) responses to questiona, he continually recommends the use of snake-like plastics, regardless of where you are located, or the time of year. I know from his web-site that Doug is selling his own plastic snakes, and I know the guy needs to make a living, but I have yet to see any poster to this site recommend a snake as a viable lure. That said, I have a Woo Daves CD, wherein he promotes a 10" top-water pink snake. I would appreciate any input, pro or con.

What Baits have produced Sharelunkers?
Matt, thanks for the info. That must have taken a lot of digging and a lot of time. You are hereby awarded one official Attaboy.

What Baits have produced Sharelunkers?
I stacked up every lure I own on the bathroom scale, and it comes to ... hmm, let's see here ... about four pounds, including the tackle box, digital scale and bottle of scent. ;D I've still got about a month and a half before the fork trip. By that time I'm sure I can add another pound to the contents.

bassin magazine
Before everyone gets all excited, the article starts off with "Rumor has it ..." That said, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the rumor was true. It is no secret that the majority of Wal-Mart employees assigned to the "fishing" area are so clueless that it is pathetic. I always expect one of them to ask "do you want fries with that?

Interview with Ish Monroe
Guess what folks? The annual Tulsa Boat Show starts tomorow. None other than Ish Monroe will be conducting seminars. Also, a local pro by the name of Gary Mullins will also be holding seminars on Oklahome bass fishing. If any of you folks have questions for either of them, then PM me and I will try to get answered.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
After reading your post I went back to my map and located many more potential places than what I initially came up with. However, I'm going to lets this sleeping dog lie until I get to the lake in March. If I don't, I can see myself bugging everyone to death with "what if" questions. From this point on, I will simply concentrate on the equipment and clothing I will/may need for the trip. Since I will be fishing amoung Glenn and you mods I feel I must dress appropriately - and of course, carry the proper equipment. First, I'll need to order a Neiman Marcus catalog so that I may select the proper outdoor clothing. Secondly, I need to find out if Gucci offers a tackle bag. Third, I need to trash all my rods and replace them with Loomis GLX's. Forth, I need to replace all my spinning reels with Pfleugers Fifth, I need to buy four or five cases of Dom Perignon so as not to disappoint the delicate palates of Glenn and the mods. Sixth, I need to cancel my reservation for a rental boat and purchase No less than a $50,000 100 mph speed demon fully equpped with GPS/Depth finders on all four corners. Seventh I need to purchase a large trampoline and hire a dozen or so Hooters girls to jump on it. If I do all of the above, will I be accepted as an equal? On the other hand, if I show up looking like a pig with my Wal-Mart rods and reels, yet still provide the trampoline and the Hooters girls, will I still be accepted?

Great afternoon
Atta boy, Avid! Two questions. 1. Did you take the photo with a camera or your cell phone? 2. Are you wearing cocoons?

Ronnie, your post came in as I was posting my response to Russ. Thanks for the input. You have no idea how much I needed that! Let's hope we are both right.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Russ, I posted the Latitude and Longitude. If you will re-read my original post I was specifically asking for those with maps to give me an idea of whether or not I was correct in my interpretations. Nothing more, nothing less. Obviously, this would require anyone who cared to respond to my specific question to actually look at the map. If someone doesn't have a map or doesn't want to spend any time looking at the map, then no need to respond. That said, I very much appreciate the responses I have received, so far. As a point of clarification, I have an engineering background (electronics) and everyone knows we engineer-type people try to see everything in finite terms. i.e. we try to eliminate the grey areas. I am well aware that bass fishing is a vast grey area. Everything changes, all the time. I don't have a shrink, yet, but if I did, he would probably tell you that that is why I was drawn to the sport. I truely believe that, with the right tools, I can become a much better angler than the large majority of the bass fishing population. To me, the most important tools are knowledge and experience. The weather prevents me from gaining experience, but I'm hoping that you folks can provide me with some of the knowledge I can't get from books. So, back to the coordinates I posted. What do you think?
-
2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
OK guys, I get it. Apparently, the only thing a Topo map is good for is conversation over a few beers, and to keep from getting lost. I get the point. BUT, WILL SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK AT THE COORDINATES AND TELL ME WHETHER OR NOT I AM FULL OF IT?
