  1. Get real LBH! Everybody knows that chain doesn't got to his wallet. It goes to his grandfather's pocket watch! ;D BTW, if he fell in the water tht chain would drag him straight to the bottom.
  2. I have been pouring over my Lake Fork map like a madman for the last week or so trying to find the areas most likely to hold lunker bass. My problems is that as a beginner, I really don't know what I am doing. I have read and re-read RW's and Craig Baugher's posts about structure. I have scoured Bass Wisdom by Homer Circle and The Bass Angler's Almanac by John Weiss. As a result, I have selected and rejected, and then re-selected and re-rejected a good number of sites. I'm at the point that I don't know whether to scratch my head or my butt. In a desperate plea for help, I am asking you folks with maps and/or GPS to take a look at an area I have selected as having BIG bass potential. The reason I selected the area is that it has a lot of timber and grass at a depth the larger bass would probably spawn, plus it has quick access to deep water. It is on the North side (but not the Northern end) of the Lake and is shielded from North and Westerly winds. My chosen spot is located at 32deg 51min 15 sec North and 95deg 35min 15sec West. Yoiur comments, pro or con, would be very much appreciated. Mike
  3. I went to BPS today for no reason in particular. Our store has a huge glass-walled fish tank measuring about 12' high and 20' wide. While I was there I watched a demonstration of some of the lures that BPS has to offer. One of the (hookless) demos was of a Berkley plastic worm. A LM bass weighing about two pounds latched onto it on the fall and, get this, it would not let go. It kept the lure in its mouth for at least twenty seconds, despite the fact that quite a bit of line pressure was being applied. I couldn't believe my eyes. According to the guy doing the demo, Berkley baits have scent applied during the molding process so the scent permeates the lure. Because of this, bass tend to chew on it rather than spit it out. Despite the fact that I went to BPS for no particular reason, I left there $75.00 poorer - and I still don't own any Berkley baits. Gary Yamamoto is a slightly richer man, though. Mike
  4. RAM makes several different holders. Here is their site. http://www.ram-mount.com
  5. Use a razor blade to pry up the corner of one of the numbers, then start daubing GOOF-OFF (available at most hard-ware stores) on the adhesive with a Q-Tip. The number should peel right off.
  6. If you weigh over 15 lbs, where in Lake Fork will you be on March 19th? Please provide exact Log, Lat, & Depth. Also, what lure would interest you the most?
  7. Everything I have read says the bass "usually" spawn in one to three feet of water. Obviouly, bass could easily spawn in deeper water, depending upon it's clarity - I think. Is the AMOUNT of light itself the deciding factor, or is it the HEAT generated by the sunlight that prompts spawning depth. As a novice, my rationalization is that they are somehow both important, for reasons I do not yet understand. That said, I think the heat generated is much more important than the amount of light. Therefore, based on my almost surely faulty analysis, spawning beds are always found in shallow water. Please feel free to rip me apart. I'm trying to learn. Mike
  8. Kidding aside, videos of the guys preparing meals for the group and the group chowing down.
  9. Video of Avid knocking the lower unit off his rental boat when he hits a stump. If you can also get a shot of him flying over the bow into the water, that would be nice too.
  10. Save the fish! Pray for whirled peas!
  11. Avid, don't you know that bazookas are great rod carriers? You can carry at least four rods in them and they will be perfectly safe. As long as you carry the rockets in a separate piece of checked luggage, you will be fine. After all, at $7.00 (or whatever) an hour, our vaunted security "experts" are not permited to think, which would require some obtuse individual to put two and two together. We all know that ain't gonna happen. Mike
  12. TBP, I PM'd you before I read your post here. Point taken. You may disregard my PM if you see fit. Mike
  13. I initially started to post a message about how idiotic protecting your precise location and real name on this site is. Then, it suddenly dawned on me that many posters are pre-teens and teens. Although I think it highly unlikely, it is conceivable that some filthy, scum sucking puke would try to entrap a kid by trying to become his fishing buddy. It would obviously start with PMs. If you younger guys start receiving PMs from someone wanting to take you fishing or teach you how to fish, tell your parents immediately! This person may want to hurt you! As for me, My name is Mike. I'm sixty. I live in Tulsa, OK. I will be at Lake Fork the week of March 18th. My wife, thirty year-old daughter and big, ugly dog will be at home alone. The dog doesn't know how to shoot a .357, the others do.
  14. Muddy-Man are you out of your mind? You know very well that no self-respecting guide would EVER be caught drinking (shudder) Scotch. It's good ole Tennessee sippin mash or nothin. ;D ;D ;D
  15. I could have been worse. You might have forgotten to put the plug in the boat drain hole. You might have forgotten to put the truck in park and it rolled off into the water. You might not have had enough money to buy the Good Samaritan a beer. Look on the bright side. It could only get better from here. The next time, you might catch a few fish. Keep your chin up and thanks for a very funny story.
  16. Never set your hot toddy on the ice.
  17. I recived my Lake Fork Topo Map from BPS today. After a close analysis of the structure in the lake, I have narrowed down the places likely to hold lunker bass. There are only 127,523 of them. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  18. It just so happaens that I began a BPS search for a rain suit this morning. BPS, to their great credit, publishes consumer reviews of the products they sell. Having heard a few good things about the Frogg Toggs I started there. To my surprise, some of the FT products received only an average appraisal, while their Pro Signature Series received terrible reviews. The BPS labled products also received only so-so reviews. On the other hand, the Red Heds and the Colombia products in the same price range received much better reviews. I have not yet researched Gandar Mountain. Mike
  19. Ice? Did anyone say ice? We had three days of freezing rain and sleet last week-end. MUch of Oklahoma has been declared a disaster area. We still have three inches of ice on the ground, and with highs in the mid-twenties, it's going nowhere fast. To top things off we expecting six to eight inches of snow this week-end.
  20. I don't call my equipment "tackle." I call it "linebacker" It all goes on one end or the other of my line. For what it's worth, I also call my Polomars and other knots "tight ends." Would I lie? ;D ;D ;D
  21. As a newbie, I have, more than once, been guilty of the "buy before you ask" syndrome when posting on this site. Without fail, the members have tactfully pointed out the error of my ways. As yet, no one has ever called me a dumb-azz or an idiot. although I'm sure they wanted to.
  22. The loudest thing you will hear on my boat it the pop-top on my beer can.
