Although none of you are aware of it, Ronnie has appointed me as the Official Sausage Slicer for his gumbo. I don't want to mention the word extortion, but unless Ronnie gets everything he requests, I guarantee that the person who lets him down will receive only a few paper-thin slices of sausage in his gumbo. ;D ;D ;D

Personally, I use Suffix 30# braid on my spinning outfits. I love it. no line twist at all.

I guess the ONLY good thing about being a Newbie is that I haven't had the time to amass a great deal of tackle. All of my tackle fits in a medium sized Plano case with two trays under each lid. I have to admit though, that I need to find a more efficient way of storing my plastics.

With all due respect to the members, including myself, I would speculate that very few of us really understand what we think that Bush thinks he is probably trying to say. For those of you regulars who normally skip the "Important Topics" section and go right to the meat of the postings, I would strongly reccomend that you read the posting from Glenn about why this site is free. Tonight I re-read the post. I suggest all members do so frequently if you want to help support this site. Glenn, from this point on, I will order nothing from any of your sponsors, especially BPS, without logging in via one of your banners. I'm not a member, and based on all of the negative threads I have read on this site over the last few months, I never will be.

I missed the ranting and raving, but I have a very strong suspicion it was from the very same individual who took it upon himself to question the honesty and integrity of a very well respected contributor to this site. If it IS the same individual, then I have seen several of his "holier than thou" postings, and am speculating that he was a thorn long before I discovered this site about four months ago. To my knowledge, this is the second time that Glenn and/or the Mods have drawn the line with him and have deleted his rants. For all I know, it may have happened before. I assume that this individual has been PM'd with warnings that he get off his soap-box, and hopefully, suggestions that he seek professional counseling. As far as I'm concerned, if I never read another post from him it will be too soon - and I never saw his latest post.

As a newbie I will be ecstatic if I can land a five pounder. I am counting on the Lake Fork trip and all of the expertise that will be surrounding me to help me achieve my goal. Mike

After my above post, I got to thinking about RW's "diminishing returns" As far as I am concerned, the value (increased ability to catch fish) gained between a low-priced rod and a medium range rod is enormous. But what does the value curve look like when one goes from a $100 rod to a $300 rod? My assessement is that the curve is very steep when it comes to going from low-priced to mid-range rods, but how quickly does the curve level off when one steps up from a $100 to a $300 rod? I would venture to say that the value (remember?, the ability to catch fish?) curve gets real flat and real fast. Mike.

In Oklahoma boat trailers do not need a title, registration or tag. However, the boat and o/b motor (over 5 hp) require title and registration.

Bass fisherman, I didn't catch the show but fully agree with you about just watching guys catching fish. The camera always seems to focus on the fish being landed, instead of the fisherman's tactics that caused the fish to hit the lure. Mike

IMO, unless you fish in gin-clear water, this device would be almost useless. Further, I think it is just another hoola-hoop. This device does absolutely nothing to improve your ability to catch fish. All it does is show you, under optimal conditions, if there are fish under your boat. If I'm not grossly mistaken almost any quality depth finder will do the same, and with much better resolution than a camera being used under less than ideal optical conditions. Personally, I would invest my money elsewhere.

Having been jilted by Avid, I now pose a question for the Lake Fork Mod Squad attendees. Despite the fact that all of you are officially on vacation, would any of you be willing to switch out with your regular fishing partner and spend at least a half a day teaching us newbies? Mike
