What baits are you specifically looking to throw? Glide baits range from an ounce to nearly a pound.

Haha. The perks of being young, thin and having long arms (I'm 6'1"). Ask me if I can do that "Yoga like maneuver" in 20 years lol. My kayak is actually pretty stable though, I've never felt in danger of flipping just reaching for stuff.

I do the same lol. I'm probably at my biggest risk of getting in an accident when the road parallels water of any kind.

If neither is option I'd get a visa gift card and buy stuff from places like TW or other online shops. Most times that I go to BPS or Cabelas with the intent of buying a specific item I leave dissapointed, either because I couldn't find it or because it was marked up compared to TW.

I have and will fish whitecaps in my kayak. But today's wind...no thank you. My cutoff is when I feel physically in danger of being out there. Usually in that 20+mph sustained category. Below that I try and anchor near key spots, or find the edge of wind (where the land blocks it and it rounds a corner). Light to moderate wind is like rain to me, it sucks, but I'm not going to let it stop me from going. I've caught some nice fish in some pretty terrible wind.

I think that's your best bet. I usually go 50 or 65 on frogs, 30 or 40 for light t-rigs, and 40 for jigs. If you don't frog in really heavy stuff 40 might be fine.

It really depends on the technqiue. I like longer rods and will pretty much not buy anything under 7' now.

Probably in the 4 range if I had to guess. Nothing against you but hold the fish closer to yourself if you want people try to give you accurate weights.

I've always viewed it as a C-rig but it just forces you to fish a lot slower. And the smaller weights allow the worm to "float" over and through cover easier. I don't think it necessarily has to be a finesse technique though (if you define finesse by downsizing). Bill Murphy used it a lot for his stitching technique.

16 (20 now). Lol when I was looking for a car my two main concerns were 1) can it take roof racks for my kayak, and 2) can it swallow 8 foot rods. I bought roof racks very shortly after being able to drive by myself and have been taking my kayak places ever since. When me and my dad go together and take his boat I am always the person to launch and park the trailer so while my current car can't haul a boat, I at least have the experience to be comfortable doing it eventually.

You could say I keep things minimal... ...but that would be a complete lie Technically, I could carry 8 rods if I ditched my net and flag/light pole. But I don't even have 8 active setups so there's no point. What you see is what I carry at maximum. Some lakes I know I am not going to be punching or frogging so I can sometimes leave that at home. Some days I might just go out for a couple hours, leave my crate at home and just use the two built in rod holders. But I like to have the option to bring everything lol.

Depends what you consider basic tackle, if all I get for worms is a 5" senko and all I get for crankbaits is a squarebill and a deep diver I will take the limited rod selection. But if you give me 3 sizes and 2 colors of all the different types of worms, give me 2 colors of all the different types of crank baits, 2 colors of all the different types of jigs etc, etc, etc...then I'll go basic tackle.

I do use a gallon ziploc for my bigger worms actually since they don't fit in my plano. (Like 12"+ worms).

I use a deep plano and keep them in their bags. Mine is very cramped but it keeps everything neat.

Mike how do you like to fish the blade baits? I've just been giving them a slow lift and fall jigging them off the bottom.

Interesting indeed! How big is it? It's hard to judge by the picture.

Two summers ago I swear I had one tied on 90% of the time. It just flat out got bit nearly every time I used it, in almost every condition I tried. Something about it seems to annoy the fish more than make them feed. The way smallies just destroy them sometimes you'd think it had insulted their family. One time I casted it near a submerged rock pile and watched a smallie torpedo from 30 feet away and just punch it out of the water. Then I let it sit, and it came back a 2nd time, and the third time it finally got hooked. It was the most aggressive I have ever seen a bass.

Welcome! That's the nice thing about these smaller ponds is you can actually thoroughly fish most of the pond in an outing and be confident fish at least saw your lure. I always kind of hate those low detail topo maps. They are nice for a general overview but we all know that the middle there isn't a smooth 6 foot deep football field, it has dips and troughs and other structural features, however small. For all I know there is a 20 foot hole that was missed in the mapping process. I have lakes near me that I know d**n well are 12 feet in spots the town maps say 4. And while Navionics is nice, it too can miss things. In one of the larger lakes in central MA (quinsig) there is a spot where Navionics says it's 30 feet deep...it's actually 4 feet with rocks. Not only suprising....but downright dangerous. We had a pretty close call last year in that spot while tubing.
