Today was a big day for me as it was my first time out fishing since October. Since the ponds had just melted on monday and the temperatures were 60s all week I expected to have to dig deep for some bites. Also just yesterday it rained all day. But low and behold when I got there I could see not one but three bass all prowling around next to the bank as if it were a clear summers day. Any explanation for this? The bluegill were on the surface too which may be why the bass were there.

Okay well I feel like a noob asking these but its time for a change. I want to switch to flurocarbon but i noticed that 10 pound mono has the same diameter as 15 pound fluoro. Does this mean I can use the 15 pound flouro on a reel that recomends 12 max. Second how often should I replace my line. Third how do I know how much line I have on my reel? thank you so much for the help.

Thank you all for your input. At dicks I had to decide between the skeet reese or the Mojo. I chose the mojo after much deliberation. I already slapped my 201D Citica on it and spooled it up! Cant wait to try it tomorrow.

Okay but Im going to be looking at anything in dicks. Im thinking still maybe the mojo or a team daiwa. But if they have them Ill look at what you suggested. Im also gona pick up some soft plastic swimbaits to go with my new setup. Any other suggestions?

Lols I thought I was gona have to wait 3 weeks to get this but I just struck the loto and found an old un cashed 125$ check. Im going to dicks tonight and seeing what I can get.

But I also need to be able to handle the lighter baits like my jigs and my worms.

Acme Spinning Bait. It was a heavy spinning blade with a treble hook. Probably took half the weeds out of my favorite pond.

Well thats a very broad question. How much do you want to spend, what kind of techniques do you use, and do you fish from a boat or from shore? Answering these will help anyone answer your question faster and better.

Thanks thats exactly what I was looking at and I now have made up my mind.

I also wanted to add that the reel ill be using is a Citica 201D with a 6.2:1 Gear Ratio. Hope that helps

Cool Im really just looking for something I can use with like soft plastic swimbaits/worms/topwater/a few jigs. Im not sure if my listed rod fits into that.

Wow thank you. The 6'6" looks to be about right and I have a 7 footer thats heavy if I need to bump up.

Ive been bass fishing for about 4 years and I still am always unsure on what rod specs to get. Im looking into getting the St. Croix Mojo Bass rod and am just looking for a rod with the broadest range of techniques I can use it for. Right now im looking at getting the 6'6" MH Fast rod but I wanted a second opinion? Right now I have a: BPS Mega Tournament 6' medium combo/weightless plastics Quantum Inferno with BPS Tourney special 7' MH/? Shimano Citca w/ 6'10" St. Croix Mojo Bass/ Jigs and weighted plastics I can't decide what specialty to make the Inferno and I wandered what you guys think it should be. PS The mojo bass hasn't been bought yet but it is on my wish list and I am making up the money for it.

You are all so lucky. I couldn't get a ride down so I have to order off the internet :D I got a St. Croiz 7' MH Mojo Bass rod, 5 Lunker Lure rattleback jigs in green pumpkin and a rapala mini 50lb. electrical scale.

What is the mono to braid conversion like 12:24 or is it like 12:12 cause everyone seems to be using heavy braid on reels that don't state they can take that much.

Same here. It is easier than constantly switching reeling hands.

I got one for the same price and it is worth double. Now for a starter something with cast control would have been better. It just means you'll have to be a little better at casting. So practice, practice and more practice. ;)

I didn't get any measurements but I could tell that it was over 3 lbs. This is only the 2nd bass I've caught so I'm psyched for this year. :)
