  1. Caught my new PB on Saturday morning at about 7:30. I was fishing by myself, so she had to take a short trip in the live well so i could find someone to take my picture. I gave her a big kiss, thanked her, and released her in the exact spot I caught her.
  2. Just found this one. Don't think there are any stipulations on it. It is also just down the road. http://sherwoodbassclub.com/
  3. Try this one. Should be right down the road. From looking at their page, it seems to be a good club. http://www.lrafbbassclub.com/ EDIT Sorry just figured out one member of the team has to be associated with the Department of Defense. But there are two email address on there. you could email them and ask them if they know of any others around the LR area.
  4. I moved from Central Arkansas to SW Arkansas last year. I was in Central Arkansas for 15 years. What part of central arkansas are you from? Maybe I can help.

I am not too big of a fan either. I bought a package of the 3 sunfish b/c the bream spawn was going on at the time. NOT A SINGLE ONE ran right.

  7. Let's don't talk about bonehead coaches. Nutt is a joke. Will be nice to watch Darren McFadden for one more year.
  8. I know you are just jerking my chain, this is just one of those topics that gets me fired up . Luckily there is a very good internet radio station that plays good country music for free. If you want good country music go to www.radiofreetexas.org Not everything is good, but it is way better than anything on country radio today.
  9. RoadWarrior, I can promise you if Rascal Flatts stepped foot on any local bar here in Texas, they would make it through about a half song before they were booed or beaten off the stage. There are a few (I said a few) of the artists in Nashville who aren't bad. I don't mean to knock anybody's taste in music, b/c obviously i am in the minority or Kenny Chesney and the other no talent hacks wouldn't be big stars. I like what country music used to be. And the closest thing to what it used to be is mostly in Texas. I am not one of those guys who thinks everything in Texas is better either. I am a Razorback, I hate everything about Texas...except for the music, Amistad, Fork, Rayburn, Toledo Bend... 8-)
  10. Tangent. I am from Nashville originally, but I would go to Austin in a heartbeat. If you are a fan of live music ... Nashville is NOT the place to go. Sorry, this is my vent. Good Country music is my second hobby right behind bass fishing. The Country Music coming ouf of Nashville now is pathetic IMO. The only, what I consider real country music is coming mostly from Texas right now. I love Willie, Waylon, Johnny, Merle, Hank, Hank Jr., etc. Those guys sang real country music. Now a days you turn on the radio and you get to hear crap like "HonkyTonkbadonkadonk" and "She thinks my tractor is sexy" (Kenny Chesney has pec implants by the way). Guarantee you Waylon rolls over in his grave everytime crap like that is played. I won't even start on Big N Rich b/c I get R-Rated. It saddens me that guys like this make a living performing "country" music and guys/bands like Jason Boland and The Stragglers, Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Stoney Larue, Mike McClure, Randy Rogers Band and many others only tour the honky tonks in Texas. But then again, I get to see all these guys at my local bar b/c they love what they do. Again, Sorry, that is my vent. The topic of Austin vs. Nashville comes up a lot down here in Texas.
  11. 8.74lbs. caught on a 10 inch worm.
  12. Oh... I loved every minute of it. The thought that the next cast could be $10,000.00 is nerve racking and very exciting. I'll get there. The lake is very big and still new to me.
  13. Well, I didn't win, and the fishing was pretty tough. I caught some fish, but the big one never came. I flipped 1/2 oz. jigs and 10 inch worms to o cypress trees most of the day. There were 400 or so boats fishing this tournament ($10,000.00 for 1st, $5,000 for 2nd and $3,000.00 for 3rd). Most people I talked to weren't catching fish of any size. We had a heavy rain about 4 -5 days ago. The gates were open all week and we have had current. But Saturday comes along and The gates were closed and almost zero current. Morning temperatures were about 15 - 20 degrees cooler the past few days as well.

  15. I am fishing a big bass tournament on saturday. The lake is fairly shallow (4 - 10 ft) w/ a river channel (20 - 30 ft) running through it. I guess my question is how would yall fish a 1 big fish tournament? I caugt a 4 lber and a 5 lber last saturday flipping jigs to cypress trees. As of now my plan is to do the same thing all day and fish for a few bites and hope. I am going to concentrate on the cypress trees that are close to ledges, creeks, and ditches. Jigs and 10 inch worms and lizards are probably what i'll be throwing all day. One more question and it a swimbait question (imagine that). Does anyone fish swimbaits in stained to probably murky water? It seems to me they perform better in clear water situations.
  16. It would be nice to get an unbiased fishing report, but in the days of sponsors and money that is probably not going to happen. A local guide service around where I fish puts out a weekly report as well. It is kind of funny that the bass are only biting the baits/lures that are on his sponsor page. In his defense, if I got to guide for a living I would say and do the same thing. Only real information I take from it is water clarity, water level, and release rate at the dam.
  17. I think it is probably more of a problem in small bass clubs that don't do much to prevent it. And I wouldn't be surprised if it happens at most small tournaments. I hate to judge people by the way they look, but sometimes it is hard not to, and I hope I am wrong everytime. But when $500.00 or more is on the line for a day of fishing, you can bet some people are going to cheat.
  18. Just wondering. I am fishing a Big Bass Tournament on Saturday at Millwood Lake in Arkansas. Biggest bass takes the prize. Well knowing a little bit about bass behavior, I know the bigger bass are probably going to be close to the ledges, channels bends and ditches since the spawn has been over for about a month now. But the heavy boat traffic is making want to venture away from the main river channel to some smaller creeks that are close by. Last year there were approx. 300 boats on the lake. And the river channel is the only way to get up and down the lake. So there is going to be boats constantly running up and down the river.
  19. N. Illinois huh... be glad I am not an admin, b/c I would track your IP address to your general location. And notify every member on this board within a hundred miles of your general location to notify anyone that owns a private lake or pond to be on the watch.
  20. Who does everyone like??? It is an impossible race to handicap. I'll be pulling for Curlin. I always root for the Horse that comes out of Arkansas. He is one of the favorites right now, but he has a lot of history going against him. He is trying to become the first horse since 1882 to win the Derby without racing at age 2, and the first since 1915 to win the race with three starts or fewer. One of these days I plan on making it to Churchill Downs to watch the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby. Anyone ever made or had a Mint Julep??? I am making some tomorrow for the occasion.
  21. I guess I should have been more specific. I am not really looking for strategy / technique books. i have a million bassmaster magazines and this website for that. I guess more along the lines of biography books like Fishing on the Edge, etc. A Good Life Wasted: Or Twenty Years as a Fishing Guide is pretty good so far. It is basically about a guy who had a good job, a good future, but couldn't stand the Corporate world. So he quit leaving the good job behind to go be a fishing guide.
  22. I picked up "A Good Life Wasted: or Twenty Years as a Fishing Guide" by David Ames last night. I was wondering what good books about fishing everyone else has read. I have read Ike's book, I have a million bass magazines it seems, but what books out there have yall read and enjoyed that pertained to fishing?
  23. I am a fan of fishin frogs in thick lilly pads. either the horny toad type or the plastic hollow frogs. plastic worms/lizards, etc are good when dropped in holes and pockets/openings. if the pads are thin enough try a buzzbait. The herbs dilly is my fav. buzzbait type lure to throw in pads. also, if you know where I can pick up some herbs dilly's, let me know. they quit making them and I am out.
  24. I throw buzzbaits and frogs. Anyone remember the "Herbs Dilly"? I love those things. I am about to run out and they aren't making them anymore >
  25. Lake Hamilton is in Hot Springs and Lake Ouachita is just outside of Hot Springs. I have never fished either, but both hold their fair share of bass tournaments. Lake Hamilton also has a FLW tournament or two a year.
