  1. The Science guy is BACK??! I loved this guy when I was a young lad. I'll have to check it out. Yeah, he's back. I still show some of the Bill Nye's to my science classes. They all thought he was dead.
  2. No, tell Long Mike he's depleting the ozone layer!! ;D
  3. You know, I've watched a little of Planet Green, mostly the "Greenburg" show. I followed it for about six or seven episodes and then lost interest/got too busy. I did notice that Bill Nye is back on there with "Stuff Happens". Other than that, I don't watch any other "new" channels. Just my old favorites: ESPN, History, Discovery, Food, HGTV, VH1 Classic, etc.
  4. I'm with you bud, but some people just can't help but take advantage of the system. There are rotten apples in every bunch.
  5. Even though I know I should, I find it hard to do. :-[ We just moved from a city that started charging us an extra $5 a month on our water bill for each of us to have a recycle bin (cans, plastics, newspapers, glass). We were supposed to put this thing on the curb on Wednesdays and let them pick it up. Trash pickups were on Tuesday and Friday. My problem with it was that the trash service wasa going to make money off of my recyclables. Why would I put my aluminum cans in there when I can take them and sell for 80 cents a pound? I guess I'm kind of selfish on the matter, but isn't that realistic? Even though I know that it takes about 90% more energy to make a new aluminum can than a recycled one. Does anyone else feel this way too? The smaller community we now live in doesn't offer recycling services. If I am to recycle anything, I will have to drive at least 15 miles in either direction to deposit these items. That's around $8 of my hard-earned money (round trip) to recycle. If I'm being irrational about this, someone please set me straight. I'm just being honest about this. Here's my take on what we need to do: If our gov't (EPA I guess) wants us to recycle, then they need to offer more incentives. How about offering a tax break to those of us who recycle "X" amount of products per year? (Maybe have recycling centers give us reciepts or something) I really think that the average citizen might actually lift a hand if they see something more immediate in it for them. Just my .02 as always. -Fisher Jimzee, Did you try reporting that to your city officials?
  6. Maybe they were sick. . . sick and tired of being at work. Agreed it's not fair for you to cover for their "sickness". Why can't they just be honest enough and take a vacation day for their recreation? At least have sense enough to duck when the TV camera's are around. :

X2 i probably think i agree w/u on dat 1 Someone needs to remind others that we aren't communicating by text on a cell phone around here. In addition, there's a way to properly punctuate and capitalize words on your keyboard as well.
  8. I didn't say anything bad about your post. :-/ All i said was the dude is amazing for his dance style taking advantage of his body like that and putting it to use in a dance. Maybe you don't see it like that but i do. Lighten up Grimlin, Long Mike is being. . . well, he's just being Long Mike. . . I think he mean't it as a joke. As Brent says, b ;D -Fisher
  9. Verrrrry Baaaaaaaad! That poor sap is a dead man!
  10. Yes, although not a Yankee fan as well, it is sad to see it go. I've always wanted to go to a game there. The house that Ruth built. . . RIP! :'(
  11. Thanks for sharing that, Matt. You definitely had someone looking out for you. I've had some close calls like that several times in my life and than the good Lord above every time. You are right that we need to live every day as if it were our last. Thank everyone you can, tell everyone you know that you appreciate or love them, and set the very best example you can. God has a plan for you Matt!! You are blessed! -Fisher
  12. First of all, welcome to the forum. I'm assuming that you are borrowing the 32 lber and are going to purchase the 30 lber? I have probably the same 1232 Tracker boat as you do. If you are bow mounting it, you can purchase a trolling motor plug: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_16072_200002004_200000000_200002000_200-2-4 Drill out a hole in the backside of the bow cover and mount the plug outlet into the hole with weather resistant screws. Before mounting, you may want to fish some wire through to make the connections. Be sure to use a heavy gauge wire. I ran my wiring underneath and attached it about every two feet with some wire clips screwed into the underside of the circular part of the gunnel. I just left about two feet at the rear of the boat and put some round terminals that are attached with the battery's wingnuts (I'm sure you could add some sort of direct plug here if you want, although that might just be another place to have a bad connection). I'm sure there might be better ways to do this, but it's not that diificult to do it the way I did. Hope this helps. -Fisher
  13. Great thread Russ! There's no need to apologize for being "emo" as you say. Some men just can't let their guard down enough to be that way, much less shed emotional tears over something. It's not a sign of weakness. As a Christian, I have always related to the shortest verse in the Bible: Jesus wept. To me, there's no greater man than one who would give his life for another. BTW, my best friend is my wife.
  14. Guys, I, in no way, wanted to make false accusations and call all crotch rocket riders idiots. That's just the perception around here. The dad in question was accelerating beyond 120 mph (a police officer witnessrd him racing another and flashed his lights at them) before hitting a car who pulled out on the other side of a gentle hill (if he was going the speed limit, she would have been in the clear). If someone wants to go that speed (car or bike), they need to take it to a track. Riders around here are always talking about how drivers don't respect them. I respect the cruisers because of their track record and their example. The rocket riders have done little but turn my opinion in the other direction. I guess if you bought one, you should know your limits and practice the golden rule while riding one. Respect is a two-way street. You guys are right about "hating the rider, not the bike" (and I'm not hating anyone though, just their riding habits). I may have been out of line a bit in my vent and apologize for offending anyone who read my post. -Fisher
  15. Will do Robert. Keep us posted as to her progress!! God bless, Stacy
  16. Crotch rockets. . . well, you don't want to get me started. A young man at my church was killed on one a couple of years ago and left a four year old daughter without a dad. I really don't see ANY need for these on the streets. Around here, most of them are operated by irresponsible idiots! (excessive speed, in and out of traffic, wheelies at 70 mph, cutting off cars, etc.) IMHO. If I were to ride (and there has been some desire to do so), I'd go with a cruiser as well. I would have no desire to ride around all bent over and crouched down all the time. I also think you'd get a little more respect from the driving community on a cruiser. I have to admit, I don't think too highly of crotch rocket riders due to their reputation (I bet you couldn't have guessed that already). Sorry if I sound so brash, but seeing that little girl come to church each week without her dad really makes me have a bad feeling about these cycles. She's never been the same little girl since he passed. Just my .02! -FOM
  17. Agreed it was a great game. So far I really like the chemistry of the NFL. All games I've watched have been entertaining. I've kind of been out on the NFL for the last couple of years and shifted my attention to college. I have to admit that I'm going to watch more NFL this year. Don't forget next Monday night with Jets Vs. Chargers! The Jets look a little better than I expected them to. They could have had a win this last week if their D would have stepped up late. The Chargers have to turn their losing ways around and will be ready as well. Great times in the NFL!!
  18. I didn't see any postgame interview, but I think Shanahan's decision might have been one of sportsmanship to (as the announcers stated) let SD have a chance to stop them "fair and square" for whatever that's worth, instead of letting a coin toss decide it in overtime. I really don't care which team won the game, but San Diego's defense had multiple chances to stop Denver before they got into the redzone.
  19. Dom, I'll add her to my list. My prayer activity is much greater today. Tell her to be careful with that kind of infection. My wife was in the hospital for a couple of days last year over a toe. God bless, FOM
  20. Thanks Matt. We will lift them up in prayer.
  21. Reporting from hometown of Paris,Texas (2 hours west of my home): Wind is picking up now, light rain becoming more constant. It looks like what used to be the eye will now move east of here a little bit more. Home should only get up to 1" of rain and maybe 2 here. I have a brother in Spring (just a little north of Houston). At 6:00 AM I talked with him. They were experiencing gusts up to 50 and had been without power since 3:30 am. I only get his voice mail now and am a bit worried. Does anyone have any current reports from down that way? I'm seeing less on the news as it starts to dissipate. Please share. -Fisher
  22. I live North of Fort Worth and am relieved that Ike (or remnents of) will go farther East than expected. We are visiting my hometown of Paris and returning on Sunday morning. Originally, I was really concerned about 60-70 mph winds in that area, but the track takes the storm even farther East than there. Also, it looks like it will boogy on to the North before we leave on Sunday. I was a little uneasy this morning as I heard the NWS bulletin that went something like this: "If coastal residents don't evacuate, you are facing certain death." Ooooooo kaaaaay. I guess they mean business. I pray that everyone makes it to safety soon.
  23. Let's not forget our men and women in desert camo, either! Dan, So I can keep this thread honorable to those who lost their lives that day, please check your PM box. :-X -FOM
  24. I think you give him too much credit. . . more like scumbag! I pray the guy converts and asks for forgiveness, because hell is a hot place! I'm sorry, I know I should sound a little more forgiving, but that's a hard one to forgive. Only God can do that.
  25. We are having a special part of our pep rally dedicated to 9/11 today. I was talking to my 7th graders about it earlier and realized that they were in kindergarten when it happened. They didn't seem to "get it" completely until I mentioned that there were kindergarteners who lost their parents that same day. 9/11/01 will never leave my memory. I remember how surreal it was as I listened to radio reports all morning in my classroom. It only started to sink in when I got home and saw the towers fall. Very tragic! My prayers go out to ALL those affected by this unnecessary tragedy. -Fisher
