I figure these games might get overshadowed by the Olympics, but I always thoroughly enjoy watching the youngsters play. Does anyone else follow them, or do you have a local (near you) team competing? Here's a link to a schedule of divisional games that will begin this Friday: http://www.littleleague.org/series/2008divisions/llbb/series.htm -Fisher
  2. peta OR THE NAKED SKINNY GIRL? Both... I've skinned better looking hides than hers and they were worth more too. ;D Thanks for the 411 on the swim team captain. After some research, her name is Amanda Beard, I think. I'll have to root against her, now. Why is PETA so darn attractive to celebrities? What about HUMAN RIGHT causes? Sorry for the rant. Back to the original post, I have to admit that I'm kind of hooked into this years olympics. I haven't watched very closely in the past couple, but we have watched coverage each night for at least an hour or so. I'm usually a little more into the winter olympics. Yes, Muddy, the media coverage really urks me. I'm not real happy about how much they glamorize China. I find myself so rooting against the Chinese, but I have to remind myself that the athletes aren't the government. I have to feel sorry for them. Many of them look like robots in their routines. For instance, take the little girl weightlifter. The coach would bark at her, she would bark something back, lift her weight and walk off the stage with a blank look on her face. Not until she won the gold medal did she show any emotion. It makes you wonder if they truly WANT to be there. The gymnists last night looked like deer in the headlights until they won the competition. It's kind of sad when you think about it.
  3. I asked my future father-in-law and was told that of his three daughters who were ever engaged, I was the only one who had asked for his permission. I know it is good form to ask, even if not necessary. Guess who the favorite kid-in-law is now? Yeah boy!!! You know, come to think of it. . . I never asked my wife's dad (really her step-dad) for her hand. I can't remember why I didn't, perhaps that we dated for three years and I figured they expected us to get married anyway. We get along fine though because I fish and he fishes. My wife's little sister (14 years younger) just got married to a "pretty boy" in Fla this weekend. They "had" to get married (baby on the way in 7 months). I guess I'm still the #1 son-in-law, considering the circumstances!! ;D
  4. Famous last words. We'll see.
  5. "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me This has become a staple song in contemporary Christian music about what one would do when in the presence of Almighty God. You can watch the video on youtube, I think. Very powerful. Russ, thanks for posting the story. I heard a blurb about it on NBC the other day, but missed it when it originally aired. That's some truly inspiring stuff for my Tuesday. Thanks!!
  6. Yes, the swimming has been exciting. My whole family was up and yelling on that last lap. Great fun cheering for our country! As far as the topic, yes, I think he can do it. Of course there's always the chance that he may make a mistake, but his routine seems pretty tight. Eat, sleep, swim. I wish I could eat all those calories and not break 200 lbs!! Then again, I'm sure all those laps in the pool would cut into my work time.
  7. I was just relieved after reading the headline that it didn't involve a little guy in a UPS truck. ;D Geez, can you imagine how heavy he had to drink to get THAT drunk. Really sad when you think about it.
  8. wii

Is the game the same as the PS2 version? Good question. I have the PS2 version and don't remember any Nile perch on mine. "Wii" bought one to give to our daughter for her birthday in September. Time will tell if "Wii" have the patience to wait that long before opening it. (Sorry couldn't resist.)
  9. Well guys, The tire search is over now. I purchased some Michelen XC LT4 tires today at Sears for the Tahoe: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_09579369000P?vName=Automotive&cName=Tires&sName=All+Tires They were about $30 more per tire than I orginally anticipated, but still $20 cheaper than the LTX M/S's. These are supposedly manufactured for Sears by Michelen and are essentially the same tire. On the forty mile ride home, the ride was very smooth and responsive. All aspects of the tire seem great!! One of the sales staff claimed he had gotten 80,000 miles out of his set (highway miles). Time will tell on the mileage that I get, but I'm VERY encouraged. I just wanted to thank everyone once again for all your input! Regardless of your opinions, you challenged me to look long and hard before making an $800 investment. God bless, Fisher
  10. Funny. The same joke has existed down here in Texas for years. Although it happens at a "Daaaaaairrrrrry Queeeeeeeeen" in Mexia (Muh-hay-uh). ;D
  11. That's pretty good, Dangle. It's nice to see the talents of members around here. BTW- Welcome to our site!! -Fisher
  12. AL, Is this "home for good"?

  14. OK, now I'm second guessing myself. I've called around locally and can't get a Fortera in my size without driving to the Metroplex (about 45 minutes). I also scrolled down the page that RW gave me and read some dissapointing reviews on the tire. I haven't had good luck with tires in quite a few years, so I'm trying to be really picky and not being cheap about it. Now I'm getting frustrated.
  15. Yes, Burley, they are P265/70R17's. The wheels are upgraded factories according to the window sticker. OK, let's up the aunty to, say, $175 :'( One quality that I want most is a smooth ride and good treadwear. Like I said before, we'll probably not go off-road much at all. Thanks for the replies so far, guys! Also, there is about to be a nationwide increase in the price of tires by about 10% to 12%. The price increase is coming from EVERY major tire manufacturer. They are all rainsing their prices due to the expense of the petroleum based products they need to manufacture their tires. It takes place for our company tomorrow, but I am not sure if that will be the case everywhere. Just so ya know. Yes, I've heard that about the price increase. I've even been told they might go up from one day to the next. I'm leaning toward the Goodyear Fortera. It really sounds like it has the qualities I'm looking for. I'm going to check within the next couple of days on getting some. If I can walk out for under $800 mounted and balanced, I think I'll be OK with it. Having a sound warranty and rated at 70,000 miles, I think it will be worth it. Thanks guys for all your help! I'll chime back in and let you know how they roll. -Fisher
  16. Praying for your safe return! It'll be here before you know it! God bless, Fisher

  18. Hey guys, I own a two-wheel-drive 2004 Chevy Tahoe (it replaced our 12 year old Suburban) and would like to put some new tires on it before embarking on a vacation with the family in a few weeks. The wheels are 17". We won't be going off-road much, so I would like to have a set that rides very smooth, handles good on wet pavement, etc. I've always heard that Michelen's are very smooth riding, but I've never owned a set. I would like to spend less than $150 a piece if possible. Any advice from you guys would be awesome (particularly if you are in the tire business). Thanks, Fisher <><
  19. Ditto. I have a Canon powershot (A650 I think). It has served us pretty well.
  20. If I remember correctly, I think Jack in the Box was one of a few restaurants that got caught serving horse meat in their burgers back in the late 80's/early 90's. There was one in my home town for a couple of years before it closed down somewhere in the mid-nineties. One has re-opened since then. We have one where I live and the food is pretty good most of the time. You can't beat the 99 cent breakfast jacks. The tacos are nothing to write home about, but free food is hard to pass up. They are normally only two for a buck anyway. They'll recoup that in drink sales for the day.
  21. No. We don't get out to the movies much, so if they stink I don't feel as bad spending five bucks for the DVD rental. I've seen several bad reviews on the movie and probably wouldn't have bothered anyway. That's sad too because I've liked most of Shayamalyan's movies and I"m a fan of Mark Wahlberg. "The Strangers" looks very creep too, so I might have to check it out.
  22. Guys, I get where you are coming from, but I've bought my wife vacuum's, household gadgets, kitchen appliances, etc. for years on Mother's day/birthday, Christmas, etc and she's thrilled with them. But my wife is different. She's NOT into jewelry and clothing like alot of women. Anything that can help make her life easier she sees as a gift. I guess I'm really lucky to have a "common" wife in this sense.
  23. At first you had me worried Raul! I thought you were gonna say you had sold all your fishing tackle. I, too was bitten by the archery bug back in college. Fortunately it only lasted a few years.
  24. Thanks, Mrs. M!! Since the back surgery last Monday today's going to be a little slow. It did start with breakfast in bed and we're going to veg out and watch the Indiana Jones trilogy videos all day as well as play the new Lego Indiana Jones PS2 game. This back surgery recovery's harder than I anticipated! It's very frustrating not being able to mow the lawn or care for the pool (much less get in it). I know. . . slow and easy, but that's never been my style. -Fisher
  25. Regardless of how many times it took, that's still pretty amazing. Thanks for sharing, Sam!
