Prayers needed
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, guys!! I had my surgery yesterday about 1:00 pm and returned home this morning around 9 am. I had great care in a small doctor's owned facility (24 beds). Today I have some numbness in the lower leg and some pain in my lower back due to the 1 and 1/4 inch incision. I had a hard time coming out of anesthesia yesterday afternoon so I was glad I stayed overnight. Thank you Sam and Falcon for the good advice. I am VERY stubborn about such things as I don't like to be down at all. In regards to our housing situation, we have been made aware of a couple of rental properties in the area and will be looking at one of them in a couple of days (the owner is doing some painting). An inspection and appraisal on our house is still pending on our house as well. I do have to say that a little delay in the process might not hurt. I do have faith that God's timing is perfect even though it makes no sense to us. Thanks again guys for all your prayers!! I'll keep you updated with my recovery. -God bless, Stacy

Prayers needed
Hey guys, I haven't been in for a while due to lots of things (end of school, house is under contract, looking for another home to no avail, etc.). Anyhow, you guys know my faith and also know that I am a believer in prayer. I'm usually not one to ask, but I feel close enough to you all to ask for your prayers. I am undergoing minor back surgery tomorrow and will be in the hospital overnight. I will need to be on light duty for about two weeks to follow. We are supposed to close on the sale of our house around the 25th of the month, so I should be closer to 100% by then to do some light lifting. I've got a couple of friends who have volunteered to come and move the heavy stuff for me. Please pray for my speedy recovery as well as for us to find a place to live. Our goal is to move up the road (about 10 miles) where I teach and serve on the church staff. Right now, no homes are available, but I have faith that the right property will open up soon. If worse comes to worse, we can store our stuff and stay with relatives here and there for a few weeks. We've also considered getting an RV and do some camping through the summer. Oh, well. . . I'll see you guys real soon. I'm sure in my recovery I'll be spending a little more time on BassResource.com. God bless, Stacy

Kids will be kids
If some kids ran into me and were stoned out of their mind, I would have called the law immediately. I didn't like it then, but an arrest back in the day helped turn my life around to the straight and narrow. Like I said in my bio, the bad things in my life taught me way more than my successes.

I think it's time for me to get a dog.
Well if you ask me, you can't beat a Lab, but they tend to be larger framed and the hair is mid-length. My in-laws have had two Jack Russells and they were both hyper spazzes. However, they don't necessarily spend much time with their dogs. I would guess if you were willing to spend time with them playing ball and such, they might settle down. Good luck with the search, Robert. Post us a pic when you get one!! -FOM

Just when you think you got rid of a guy...
Congrats on the new job! I sold fishing tackle for a living through college and it was great!! I've been in and mostly out for awhile, so I assume the pizza job played out. I hope it ended on good terms? Employee discounts are GREAT, meeting the reps is great, but the best is building new relationships with local anglers and finding out where all their honey holes are. Well, how'd your first day go?

Micro, Thanks for sharing those amazing pics. I'm assuming that the Kingsnake is immune to the Copperhead's venom? -Fisher

operation Bass Pro Shop!
I'm with Sam. Dumb, stupid, yes. Funny. . . yes. Come on guys. As much as I like to visit BPS, it isn't sacred ground. It's not like there are endangered species in the fish tank. Like someone else said, they have to deal with boats, swimmers, etc. in the lake. As far as why the employees didn't do anything, they were probably more in shock than not concerned with catching them. Seriously, who would have seen that coming?

Lights, camera,action
Jake, I was told by a police officer years ago in Paris, Texas that if you were into the intersection (past the stop lines) after the light turned to red, that you had right-of-way. Your situation sounds very similar. I might go as far as to contest the accuracy of the camera. . . even if you lose, you'll still have to pay $75 (unless it costs you some time off work or something).

Girlfriend Complaining About My Fishing...
I think good points have already been made. It sounds that you two are in a serious relationship (3 years) and "finding another girlfriend" is a desperate measure. Communication is key and will continue to be if you are married. Try to sit down with her and objectively voice your concerns. If she truly loves you, and she's aware of how important fishing is to you, she should be understanding of it. I'm sure she has some activities that are just as important to her. Try and relate them to your ability to fish. Also let her know that there are lots of other things that you could be doing (clubbing, drinking with the buddies, etc.) Are your fishing trips at a time that routinely cuts into something that is special to her? Perhaps some compromise might be in order to re-arrange your fishing trips. Again, the KEY IS COMMUNICATION. Let us know how it works out.

Charlie Moore Revisited
Neat story, but I'm with Leo. Russ has even made contact with people close to him and still no cigar. For the sake of CAST for Kids, he could fish with LBH. Sorry, but I'm no fan of Charlie's, but then again, he's entitled to his choice. . . its his show.

Elite Member for May 2008: Fisher Of Men
Thanks guys!! I'm really honored to be the May elite member. Your words are very kind. Having kind things to say and seeing the glass half-full is a motto that I've tried to uphold both in my career with kids and around my peers. Jimzee, I'm hope I get to see you and many others at a gathering sometime too. The downside is that the trip is usually one week after our school spring break and with state standardized tests coming up, it's not a good time to take off work. My 8th grade Science kids took their state test today (alot rides on these things; more than necessary). I am really relieved its over for another year. I wanted to make it over to Fork last year, but family illness took precidence. Maybe I can carve out a day or two to spend time with you guys next year or the next? You never know. Again, thanks to all!! Stacy FOM <><

Re: New members and post count
Listen to the man!! He owns the site. Besides, he's right. I don't keep track of how many times I talk to people each day, so why would I want to do it here. Just like real life, some of us are shy and some of us are outspoken (some more than others :). Do I welcome everyone who introduces themselves?. . . no. Did I introduce myself? I don't even remember or care whether I did. We just need to enjoy the diverse amount of personalities around here and have a good time!! God bless- FOM <>< BTW- Welcome all new "new" members and old "new" members. AND in case I never did. . . hello, I'm Fisher of Men. You can read about me in the sticky topics. Pretty cool!! Thanks BR staff!! 8-)
