Cigars?
C-Gars. Ahhhhh. Love em! Good to see a cigar thread in here. Unfortunately I have cut my cigar smoking way back in the past year. Can't smoke in public in Mass. I came up here from Pittsburgh where you could go anywhere and have a cigar and a drink. I really miss being able to go out and do that. Combine that with the cold weather (I smoke in the house sometimes but don't really like to) and it makes it a chore at times to enjoy a good cigar. At any rate on with the list. I love trying different cigars so I'll give just about anything a shot. My go to cigars when I don't have the cash to smoke what I want are Fuente 858s, LGC Series R Robusto and CAOs. I like the Criollo, it's got a nice earthy flavor. When I splurge, which is more than I should, I like an Ashton VSG, Fuente Don Carlos, OPUS, Padron Anniversary. Others in the mix of fav's are the Rocky Patel Vintage line, Torano 1916, H. Upmann Cameroon. RyJ Reserve Real are good for the money. If I'm in the mood for something strong I'll have an Puros Indios. Riskkid, Been super busy lately and haven't had a chance to sit down with my "birthday cigar" yet. But they'll be a full report when I do. I forgotten about it.

I hate being 15
Hookemdown, Glad you got things worked out with your dad. Made me really happy to read that. To you and all the other pops and sons that read this don't forget to keep the communication open. Let's face it we're men and some men typically don't talk a lot when it comes to feelings. Some times it just takes a simple conversation to make a world of difference.

I wasn't going to say anything...
Unabasser, So sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Just remember he's in a better place having a grand time.

what to do with this coldness
I say start with a rattle trap or a white spinner bait. Use them to search out bass. If the bite is on and you're catching fish maybe switch to a plastic to search out the bigger ones. If the bites not on keep throwing the trap and spinner for reaction bites.

the bass obsession...
If you have the fishing obsession then yes it is normal and there's nothing wrong with it at all and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Fishing can be a very rewarding obsession to have if you're doing it for the right reasons. The biggest reward for me is the peace of mind that it can bring when you're out fishing and enjoying nature. That's what it's all about!

red hooks
Personally I don't think it makes any difference what color the hook is. From my experience it's more about the color of the actually bait and presentation. In my opinion this is one of those things that unless fish talk we'll never know the answer to.

Yamamoto Senko's and imitations
I fished *** worms for the first time last week. I feel you get the same action and sink rate as the Yamamoto and for a fraction of the price. I've tried quite a few of the knockoffs looking to save money and really feel that the *** are the best out there. And hey even if you try a few packs a don't like em your still not out that much.

C.A.S.T. For Kids fund raising success!!
Well my day for this event started about 3:30a when my alarm clock went off. My buddy showed up a 4a god bless his soul. ;D Made the drive down to RI and started fishing. Went all day and we each only caught one fish but I have to say it was a great day of fishing just knowing that the whole thing was for a very good cause. Big Thanks to Delainey for having the presence of mind to put something like this together along with the rest of the Broggi family for making this such a big success. It really felt good to be a part of something so positive. So again thanks gang for doing it all and can't wait to see you guys again in August at the C.A.S.T. event!

Looking for a low profile reel
If you're looking to stick to Abu's I agree the Revo is a great reel but very fast. I've been using the Ambassadeur 2005 LP and love it. It's still 6.2:1 but IMHO is very smooth and a nice reel for about $80. http://www.abugarcia.com/prod.php?k=50125&sk=0&p=PUR2005LP

What have I done....
Look on the bright side, when it's 100 degrees and so humid you sweat at 6a in the south we'll be enjoying a very nice summer day. Granted it still gets humid here but I can handle this humidity in the summer much easier than what I had in KY.

We are fishing in NH!!!!
Nice job. I'm in MA and my lakes are still frozen. With the bad weather coming it's probably gonna be another couple weeks before I'll be on water.

That's a bummer to lose gear that you've had that long. Maybe it'll pop up when you least expect it. Sooner rather than later.

***Fork Video***
EXCELLENT VIDEO! Amy will get a kick out of the birthday cake nod. I'm missing Fork and the BR crew already. Even though I was outta commission there for a little while and we had more than our fair share of travel problems courtesy of US SCAIRWAYS this was still one the best fishing trips I've ever taken. Everybody that showed up was just awesome to be around and I had a blast hanging out and fishing. Also I know these people may not even read this but I have to thank some people that really helped us out and without them our trip may have not even happened. nbouchers wife for driving us from Providence to Boston to make our flight down. Russ's friend Nancy for helping us find a flight earlier than what US SCAIR could do for us. Art Pasley for picking us up in Dallas and driving us to Fork at midnight. You guys really saved the day. Anyway Congrats to all you who got personal bests. I had a blast this year and I've already got a change jar started for next year. Can't wait to see all you guys and gals again and can't wait to meet those we didn't see this year. '08 NO EXCUSES.

MOOK SIDE OF THE SAGA 100% The Truth
Absolutely Hilarious! ;D That is one heck of a story. Maybe we could sticky this thread. "What not to do while operating a boat." LOL. That's awesome you can look back and laugh about it. A lot of guys would have let it ruin their whole day. "Ron opens it up all the way and all I can see is sky" Classic. ;D

My fishing paradise, questions about pond
Sounds like you're already fishing it right. I like to throw a Rapala shallow shad rap in the pond I fish where the water only gets down to 3 or 4 ft. Maybe try different spinner styles (colors and blade combinations). I have a 4 blade spinner that looks really nice when retrieved.

Re: walleye
Very nice looking "eyes". Maybe it's just the flash but seems like there's not much color to those fish?

BassResource.com Bank/Boat Fishermen Survey
I marked boat. But I do hit the bank on the way home from work or if I'm not in the mood to drag the boat out.
