Live Bait Riggin
If I fish with live bait I fish with med. shiners for LM and minnows for Crappie. The shiners, I just use an octupus hook I forget what size, hook em in the back and let them free swim. For Crappie I'll usually use a medium size round plastic bobber on 6lb line with a split shot about 8 or 10 inches up from the hook.

Have you ever dropped an anchor....
Haven't dropped it in untied but had it untie while I was fishing once. I just happened to glance over and noticed there was way more line than there should be in the water. lol. Luckily the line was longer than the 8 ft of water i was in so most of the line was floating and I could troll over and get my anchor back.

Question on a Pickerel I caught
Notice the chain formation down the body of the lighter fish. The Pike has dots. Also the pickeral has the vertical line going straight down from the eyes. Either way to nice fish. I'm sure they were fun to catch.

Ike - Opinion update
I really like him. He's a young guy who loves the sport, looks out for the future of the sport and does what he can to get kids involved. He's just one of those go, go, go type people. Sure he's gonna be more animated than others and sure he does some of it on purpose but if that's how he makes his money then more power to him, I think his hearts in the right place.

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Hey Fish, just wanted to say good luck with the panic attacks. I have dealt with them on and off all my life. It wasn't until about 10 yrs ago that I actually figured out what it was and got treatment. For me daily medication has been an answer to my prayers. I know it doesnt work for all people though and not all people want to depend on it. Some things I've tried: Breathing exercises - Really helps. I'll shoot you a pm. Valerian extract - I tried it for a while but didn't really see any benefit but what doesn't work for some may work for others. Chamomile teas - my favorite is Celestial Seasoning's Sleepytime. I don't know why but this stuff works really well for me if I'm having a mild attack. Be careful though it can make you kinda drousy. I also use it when I can't get to sleep. Don't let anyone tell you panic attacks aren't real. Even doctors. Good luck man.

Keeping a hooked fish away from branches and junk?
oh, line diameter. I'm don't know the exact numbers but I think the 30lb test is around the area of 10 or 12lb mono.

Keeping a hooked fish away from branches and junk?
As far as casting, if your using a baitcaster you have to be able to thumb the spool really well. It'll get knotted up a lot easier than an 8lb test mono. Spinning rigs, I think it casts pretty much the same as any other line in the 8-12lb range. One of the good things about braid is it doesnt really stretch so you feel can really feel pretty much anything you're line comes in contact with. One of the bad things about braid also is that it doesnt really stretch. The slightest movement will move you're bait a lot more than a line with some stretch in it. You have to be really careful with hooksets not to set to quick and pull the bait out of the fish's mouth. It's not something I use all the time but anytime I'm fishing wooded areas and weeds like your talking about I use it.

Some bass are dumb
This first fish I ever caught was on a hook w/o any bait. I was very young and I guess my parents got tired of putting new bait on my hook because I was playing around with the pole and knocking off the bait. They said oh don't worry about it you don't need bait to catch a fish thinking that would keep me content for a while. Next thing they know I'm going nuts cause I've got a fish on. Guess what kind of fish that was.

Catch & release or keep?
I fish for Bass for the sport of it. I release any Bass I catch. If I'm hungry I'll fish for Crappie. Like Avid said maybe try to educate him a little on what it can do to the place you fish if a lot of people are keeping fish like him. Especially if your fishing a small pond or something.

Keeping a hooked fish away from branches and junk?
What kind of line do you use. 30lb braid would do the trick I would think.
