why just one lol I fish 3 basic jig colors. Black, green and brown. Then I have variants of each. For example, pb n j is a brown and purple or black with blue. I don't fish the country but in California if I had to pick one color (thankfully I don't have to) it would be pb n j.

Something I havnt seen mentioned. How often do you retie? Knots can get damaged by a variety of factors. I start my day with a fresh knot and at a minimum I will retie after every decent fish.

I fish some deep dredger ponds but I think they are 40 feet at the deepest. I wonder how cold it is down there and if there is a thermocline? Early in the year it is very clear, like 15 or more feet of visibility. As summer temps get up to 90 to 100 the bid ability has gone down. I catch fish off the bottom

Started fishing around 11 am didn't get my first bite till 3. Was fishing a deep drop shot off a point. Decided to throw the jig in some heavy pennywort. Usually this is very productive earlier in the year and come summer the big bass are deep. I cast my jig way back in the dense foliage, jiggle and BAM. Fished pulled a bunch of drag! What a surprise. She was just hunkerd up in the pennywort right off tha same point I was fishing but instead of out on a rock pile in 30 fow she was up shallow! Didn't get a weight but she was 23.5 inches

What other bottom contact baits are you using that are way more productive than jigs?

Same the only exception for me is some rods balance different between weights so the mh might have better balance which could be perceived as better sensitivity.

I found that to find THE jig rod for yourself will take some trial and error. All the recommended rod manufacturers have a different "feel". I have gone through several rods to find the tip and power that is right for me. I use a 734 Dobyns for football jigs and dragging worms in rocky or open bottom and a 735 for heavy cover. I went through half a dozen rods before I found what was a fit for me

I boil em and then pull on the tail about 10 seconds then hang em. I store most of my hudds, ospreys etc in tupelwhere

Definitely made me laugh! Probably not putting that jig in the right place. I thought I was fishing "heavy cover" until a friend took me out. He was casting his jig way back in the pennywort in places that looked so overgrown I figured there was no way a bass could live back there. I was wrong!

I recently purchased a Dobyns fury 735c. Great rod with a faster tip than the fury 734c. In my opinion way better for jigs. I was comparing my 734 fury to my 735 and noticed a few things. The cork on the 735 is obviously better quality. I don't know if that is just a rod by rod deal or what. After close inspection, I have noticed the guides are completely different! Both rods have 10 guides but they are very different. I will call Rich on Monday, was wondering if any one has heard anything. I bought my 734 as soon as the fury was released. The 735 I purchased a few days ago

Decent jig. Get some strike king rage craw trailers. They will catch fish Worth 2 bucks all day and twice on Sunday but I would NEVER pay 8 lol

Dobyns is the greatest rod ever built! Everything else is like hand me down underwear! Lol

Why are guys asking the same questions over and over? Best 100$ rod? Best cheap rod? The question has been answered 1000 times lol! I get it if people want a specific review. For example, how are the dobyns fury rods? Which one would be good for this or that? Rant over.
