  1. I've been fishing Bombers for many years and have never had one that didn't run true right from the get-go. You can find some good buys on them on the lurenet.com website.
  2. Bass Pro still markets an inline, although apparently no longer with silicon/rubber skirts. Instead, it's a bucktail skirt...not necessarily a bad thing at times. http://www.basspro.com/Uncle-Bucks-Bucktail-Skirt-Buzzer/product/15428/-576859
  3. 5" Hag's Tornado 5" Senko style Sweet Beaver Zoom Finesse SK KVD Finesse 4" That pretty much covers it.
  4. My rigs run between $200-$300...mostly around the $200 mark. I wouldn't know what to do with anything more costly....neither would the fish.
  5. For as much bashing as they get, I actually didn't do half bad with the Helicopter Lure. Buddy of mine that owned a bait shop had given me one to try. It worked rather well in slop, didn't seem to pick up a lot of trash.
  6. If I were inclined to add to my already overfilled plastics boxes, it would be the Pit Boss. Maybe after I use up the mountain of stuff I already have...........
  7. Check your settings. You can customize your screen to either show all data or turn off whatever you don't use. Possible that somehow your temp got turned off.
  8. For almost all of my spinnerbaiting I use a 1/2 oz size. Easy casting and I can burn it or just slow roll the thing.
  9. I went thru toothpicks (couldn't get them to stay snug), the rubber peg-it strips (had a horrible time getting them threaded through the weights), and the screw-in sinkers (never did like those at all). I finally settled on the rubber bobber stops like the Danielson product mentioned above. You can find those in a lot of tackle shops under various brands. I get them locally with the Eagle Claw name on the package. They work very nicely.
  10. Line: SilverThread co-poly Reels: Shimano Rods: I have several different brands of rods and like all of the ones that I selected. I'm not a slave to rod brand. Hardbait: Again, I have several different brands I use depending on the mood I'm in. I use lures from Bandit, SK, Bomber, BPS, and a couple others. I've caught fish on all of them. Soft Bait: Hag's Tornado, YUM Dingers, Zoom Trick Worms. Storage: I have boxes from Plano, Flambeau and Falcon. Overall, I guess other than reels I don't have ONE solid favorite ;D
  11. Rod: AllPro 7'MH spinning rod w/soft tip Reel: Shimano Sahara 2500 Line: PowerPro 20lb braid w/12lb copoly leader Jigs: Mostly football in either 1/8 or 3/16 Lures: SK Finesse Worms, Hags Tornado, Davis Shakeyheads, or Zoom Trick.
  12. When it comes to writing about techniques, lures, etc., the best writer in the business is Steve Quinn from In-Fisherman. I used to look forward to his writings in their Bass Fishing Annual, but lately I haven't seen much from him.
  13. The Abu round reels are perhaps the easiest reels to take apart and clean/repair of anything on the market. I've fished with a bunch of them. I still use an old Quantum Iron IR4 for 99% of my cranking chores and it's still going strong after all this time.
  14. There's nothing more fun than shopping for and buying a new rig. The question is, how much can you afford? Your boat is only a couple of years old. If you're satisfied with the boat but not the motor, I don't see any reason to run out and buy another rig. The 2011 Z6 is rated for a 115hp engine so I assume that's what you're looking at.
  15. I have the 898 with the Navionics Platinum chip. I should have saved $50 and just got the Premium instead. The Platinum offers the 3D option which I don't use. I have the Premium in a Lowrance 334 at the bow and it's great. Occasionally, Cabelas offers chips at a sale price so you might check there, or any one of the online marine electronics dealers.
  16. Like the reader above, I too have read that in a pond, bass and crappie are the wrong mix. Bass and bluegill is preferred. There may just be a huge influx of the smaller fish that are competing for food. It would probably be a pretty good idea to harvest those crappie and also keep some of those smaller bass for the table...kinda like thinning the herd.
  17. I had great success with the TimberDoodle while fishing the backwaters of Lake Erie and other northern lakes. The 4-tailed grub that comes with them as a trailer was all I ever used. Works great working around lily pads and grass.
  18. I imagine a lot of people on here will disagree with me, but.............I never change my line until the spool goes down from cutting, re-tying, and then I only replace about 50 yards. In spite of not refilling every year or more, I have not ever lost a fish due to the line breaking. I have lost one or two due to not retying after several fish and the knot broke....my fault, not the line.
  19. Haven't used the Excalibur, but I've used Super Silver Thread and AN40 for years and I can't say enough good about it. Great abrasion resistance....I've never had the line snap on me.
  20. Shimano Sahara. $80 thru *** w/free shipping.
  21. I'm with the guys who use the Magic Eraser. It just doesn't get any easier than that
  22. Sadly, all WalMarts aren't created equal . The one where I live hardly ever has anything on sale/clearance other than junk they can't give away otherwise. They do, however, constantly sell YUM Dingers (my favorite) for $3 for a full size pack 8-) .
  23. Mine does the same thing with the Navionics. I can select the depth I'm looking for and it color codes all water of that depth. 8-)
