  1. Exact same way I store them! and it works better than anything I have tried. Allen
  2. Do-It just started making them in the smaller weights but you will have to buy 2 different molds to cover that range. Let me check my molds tonight and I can post the model number. Allen
  3. I think this may have to do with the all kill tournaments? There are tournaments where all the fish are eaten at a fish fry afterwards. Allen
  4. Do not launch at Four Locks go up to McCoy's Ferry and launch at that ramp. The area around McCoy's Ferry is too shallow and the ramp is not big enough for large boats. If you want to learn about the river buy Ken Penrods book on fishing the Upper Potomac river. It was written about 1990 but he explains the different sections of the river usually from Dam to Dam. The book lists all the public ramps and even gives directions to them. Allen
  5. Unfortunately yes. > What size is your boat and motor? Allen
  6. I keep them in their original bags unless I cannot clearly see what they are? I then store all similar baits in a 1 gallon clear freezer bag. This is the best method I have found to carry the most plastics in the least amount of space. Allen

Man 6 pages Like others have said my baits I carry range from $.99 dollar bin to $35. I will use any bait that works but in the last couple of years with companies outsourcing overseas the quality have gone down. Bandit use to be my favorite crank and whil I still use them the new ones suck. Yes I would rather pay $15 for a bait that runs correct than 3 $5 lure that cannot be tuned. Since my time on the water is valuable I do not want to spend all day trying to tune baits. Price does not equate fish catching ability? I have some Megabass Visions that do not catch anything but grass! I also have a SK wild shiner I found for $.99 that is missing half the paint from catching fish. Since I carry 3 lure retrievers I hardly ever lose any baits anyway. This year I have found more lures than I have lost. My TM head breaks more lures than I ever lose :-[. Allen
  8. Dam 3 only once and the water is low so I do not think I can put my prop boat in there? Dam 5 is about the same as Dam 4 except less walleyes. Allen

Anyone else becoming a bait snob? I find myself buying mostly expensive Japanese baits these days. Now I still carry the $5 baits but hardly use them because of the LC and Team Diawa baits. Allen
  10. kbkindle, I have a unpainted factory poes crankbait body you can have. Not sure what kind of cedar it is but someone at a saw mill should be able to tell you? Allen
  11. Besides the rods you already have the only other rod you should get would be a 6'6" - 7' crankbait rod. St. Croix makes one in the premier series for about $90 that works great. Allen
  12. Dam 3 is at Dargans bend which I believe is in Fredrick county? I have only been there once this year and we drove through Sharpsburg to get there. Dam 5 is south of Clearspring and about 30 minutes + or - 10 minutes. Allen
  13. Big Slackwater is the name of the boat ramp and area above Dam #4. Four Locks is above Dam #5 and Dargans bend is above Dam #3. Allen
  14. I use them on a drop shot and they work but they are not special. Allen
  15. Yes, at the Big Slackwater ramp 6-7 LM on a Baby brush hog Allen
  16. http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog.cfm/materials-~and~-tools/crank-bait-components/1-crank-bait-body:1648 Life made easier! Allen
  17. Now you've done it...you'll probably get some PM's. I have 4...the three pictured and a backup in the green. I do like them, but honestly I won't pay for what they fetch on ebay. I'd be willing to trade you for NIB Lucky Crafts or something. I hate those inflated prices on ebay! If I can find it I will trade you for 2 LC 1.5's sound fair? Allen
  18. I switched from a Motorguide to MinnKota and the hole pattern was the same. Not sure where you fish but after bending 2 MG metal shafts I switched to MK composite and have never had a problem. Allen
  19. Some things I have learned about making jigs: Light even coat of powder paint or it will drip off during the curing process. Now that I have a fluid bed this does not happen anymore. Like someone mentioned get a thermometer to put in with the jigs as my toaster oven is way off. Lead melting in oven: Definately was not pure lead. Tin or Bizmuth is mixed with lead for sinkers, etc. and one of them has a melting point of like 375 degees. Using melted down saltwater sinkers for pouring shakey heads I have had this happen. I melted the lead off a small shakey head with a Bic lighter. Allen

4 1/2" Alwfe or Tenn. shad are what I usually use but some days the hot pink just outfishes all others. Allen
  21. The_Natural, I maybe willing to trade the chocolate wobbler since you like it so much? Once I return to Maryland I will try to find it as it is buried somewhere in my extras box. These I picked up at BPS in Missouri in early 2006 and I known I picked up at least 3 in different colors. Allen
  22. I fish Slackwater all the time and this year the LM have been hard to find. This is the time of year that you will catch the most LM though. Jerkbaits, shallow cranks and spinnerbaits are what I like to use for the fall. I should be going fishing there Saturday with a boat I plan on buying this week and will have an open seat if anyone is interested? I have to tow the boat back to Maryland from Missouri on Friday (12 hours) and then find a ride to the BWI airport to get my car. Allen
  23. Which one is the chocolate wobbler? I have the one in the bootom of the picture but it does not have red hooks? What are they worth? Allen
  24. Munkin replied to jwo1124's topic in Fishing Tackle
They still work they just aren't as popular as they use to be. Allen
  25. The usual places are listed but if you plan on pouring a lot check out captainhooksdiscountwarehouse.com for the best prices on hooks. Allen
