  1. Lead wrapped around the trebles is from way back before they made suspending jerkbaits. What bait is that anyway? Looks like a MB X-70 to me? Allen
  2. Caught 3 SM the other day on a black bear hair jig. I don't think there is a better lure for sub 40 degree water. Allen
  3. If you start weighing them the fish you catch will become smaller. Allen
  4. I see you are from Columbia , Maryland which I am familiar with. I would say overall for the state a double willow nickel bladed white bait works best. You can message me on the specific places you are fishing and I might be able to provide better recommendations? Overall in the State of Maryland nickel blades and white skirts work best. Allen
  5. Wondering the same thing? Allen
  6. Everyone should look at their state's DNR website and see what the Crayfish (Crawfish for the Southerner's) look like. I think the color of crayfish determines which jig colors work better in a given area. For example I think it was Catt that posted a picture of a Crawfish that was black with red spots? In 43 years of fishing around Maryland I have never seen one that color. Allen
  7. Red just doesn't work for me the same as firetiger. Allen
  8. The quality of EC black nickel hooks has gone up the past couple of years. Allen
  9. I have one lake where there is no such thing as too big of a jig. The jig I use is a 3/4oz with a musky starflash skirt and a Zoom Hornytoad as the trailer. This thing is like 6" long and the size of a baseball in the water. Doesn't caught a lot of fish but all the ones I have caught were 4-6lbs. Allen
  10. That is a great color for tubes as well around here. Allen
  11. Going to try a couple of these this year. There are a ton of good jerkbaits on the market: LC Pointer, Smithwick Rogue, Rapala Husky Jerk, Team Daiwa Minnow are all proven baits for me over the years. Allen
  12. While I know how to tell the bottom makeup by dragging a bait I just can't explain it? After 20-30 years of fishing a jig you just "know" what the jig feels like. The best advise I can give is just fish the bait and get used to what it feels like coming across the bottom. You will learn what the normal feel is of the bait" i.e. not catching a fish" so when something abnormal happens set the hook. Only thing that still messes me up is hooking fishing line broke off in the water which always feels like a fish. Allen
  13. Are you unable to paint the heads or do you just like them plain? Everything else is looking great. Allen
  14. I know he was selling off his bass fishing gear after he moved to the coast with family. Started posting year in 2006 I think? Does that make me an old timer? Allen
  15. Going to try out the deep diving jerkbait technique A-Jay posted a video about. I catch tons of fish on a jerkbait in 8 FOW or less. Allen
  16. Have you checked Cast Industries? Largest U.S. Manufacturer of Lead Fishing Tackle (castind.com) Allen
  17. Lucky Craft Mann's Bandit Strike King Rebel Daiwa Rapala If I had to pick 7 these are the Top 7 companies I go with. Allen
  18. Practical experience using them is the bill is squared off on some of the baits making them run shallower. Colors are more suited for salt or brackish water and the hooks are duratin instead of black nickel. I have one I have been using for over 10 years for SM that works. Allen
  19. Personally I have been impressed with the FA (Fine Art) painted baits. Just need to find a FA Wagasaki 110+ Jr (Its like the FA Ghost Wagasaki on your chart without the purple on the tail. Allen

    Its 1/8oz, 1.5", 2-5' diver Allen
  21. Munkin replied to Munkin's topic in Fishing Tackle
This bait is 1.5" and weighs 1/8oz.
  22. This is the lure I am most looking forward to this year. Based on the shallow clear water I fished all last summer this should work. Allen
  23. Ordered some baits lately and this is one of them that showed up. I knew it was going to be smaller than average but I am not sure if I have a rod light enough to throw it? This thing should catch some fish! Allen
  24. Flukes catch fish of all sizes for me not just smaller fish. During the summer usually the biggest fish caught is on a fluke or topwater. Allen
