Fly tippets as leader material for casting reels?
it'll work. but your paying close to .50 per yard for rio floro. the most expensive line i buy on a regular basis is sunline sniper floro about $30 for 200yds or .15 per yard. im with turkey sandwich. i fly fish quite a bit and have gone to building my own leaders with maxima, which out perform the knotless ones, and use regular line for tippets.

I need a lesson.
240,000 cfi. That's hard to wrap your head around. The arkansas river at 70,000 cfi is dangerous.

I need a lesson.
Kentucky lake has become famous for the offshore/ledge bite. Bass are known to move offshore almost immediately after spawning. I would flip the bushes some to make sure. But try to find the shad in 10-12', depending on the water level that could be all the way out to the ledges on the main river channel or the first drop out. I don't know for sure but seems to me the carp, which have taken over on ky lake, might be driving the bass off shore. I know when we were there last year, the big head carp were so thick in the bushes i don't know how any bass could stay there.

I need a lesson.
Was there the last week of April 2017. Fishing was pretty tough. Only reliable patern we had was in the very back of the pockets, and I mean very back, burning soft plastic jerk baits over top of what was probably nest guarders in the mustard weeds. We had better luck with the smallmouth on secondary points on football jigs. Highlight was my brothers 7 lb, 23.5 inch smallmouth. We caught fish but it was work.

Throwing
You’re in a great location. Time on the water is the key. Staying on the fish, then staying ahead of them. I don’t remember who I heard it from in an interview but the phrase stuck with me, that the key to catching big fish is being where they’re coming in to you, not where they’re leaving.

Launch with a truck bed cap
That'd work great till the battery went out on your remote. I fish by myself most of the time and a rope works great. in fact, i use it even when i have someone with me. they usually just slow me down. one thing i learned the hard way: when you pull the boat up to shore after launching, drop the rope on the ground not in the boat. had to go swimming after my boat on the river once.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Prespawn is officially here. I love pitching jigs in the cypress knees when the girls start showing up, and the in close battle. This is the first one that looks like she's been fanning a bed. Bottom tip of tail is a little red

Shad spawn here during that time. White buzzbait is my favorite.

braid v floro for pitching
I have on light line/spin reel applications. Thinking I might have too many break offs in the heavy stuff. I’m fishing a cypress jungle right now. Seems all the pros are pitching with heavy floro, but they get paid to sell line. I’ll keep running both and see what has best results. It’s jig fishing time here and so fair the braid is winning out.

braid v floro for pitching
I've gone back and forth last couple of years on type of line for pitching to wood cover. For grass i definately prefer braid, but for wood I can't make up my mind. If any of you have experimented with the two and have a preference let me know. My two lines of choice are 50lb powerpro braid or 18-20lb sniper floro. On the power pro i like the easy handling, strike detection, toughness, and durability (and the fact I can swap ends on the spool and get double the life): i dislike the feel coming over wood and the fact braid cuts into itself after pulling hard either on a fish or hang up and the fact that sometimes you want to break off. Sniper floro the main disadvantage is cost, and it doesn't handle quite as easily as braid. There is a perceived advantage of floro being invisible to fish and possibly more strikes, although I'm not sure that's the case and may be offset by improved strike detection using braid. Lately I've been pitching jigs with the braid and pitching t rigs with the floro. I'd be interested if any of you see an actual increase in strikes when using floro while jig fishing.

Favorite water you've fished.
I love the big O down in clewiston, but i think if i fished it everyday i would miss the arkansas river. not gonna catch a ten pounder, but it changes daily(heck hourly) based on the flow. Its like fishing a new body of water every time out. I never get bored of it. never fished the st johns, maybe that would be best of both worlds.

The ozarks. Take a vacation to Mtn View, Arkansas. Small town, world class trout fishing nearby, smallmouth, largemouth. To you there is no winter.

You should be hitting the fall bite about right in those areas. You'll probably be going right by toledo bend, a stop there and day with a guide would be worth it.

Pond baits
t rigged worm will work anywhere. best pond bait ever. i have to give some warning that i haven't fished a pond in a few years. but when i did, the worm was hard to beat. couple of hooks and weights in your pocket and a pack of mann's jelly worms and your good to go.

WHERE TO KEEP EVERYTHING!!
I keep them in the orig package then in gallon zip locks labeled for worms, craws, flukes etc. Put them all in an old case for a laptop (it was free), a back pack would probably work good too, but i'm cheap.
