Show your ride...
If you went 83 with me in a tourn as nonboater you'd have some seat cleaning to do.

Rods without a hook keeper
I've cut them off before if there in a location that bugs me.

These old lures worth anything? Cleaning out tackle box!
That might be a pre-rap wiggle wort in the last pic. One that is upside down with orange bottom. If it says "wiggle wort" on the bottom of the bill it may be worth $25 or so.

That one thing you never thought you needed...
The app that shows the river gauge and flow. Fishing the river is all about flow rate and know where they set up at different rates of flow.

The latest sale thread
Dick's dumped a bunch of inventory into the Kmart going out of business sale. I guess stuff they didnt want to discount so deeply at their store. I got a pair of Korkers wading boots (regularly $190-$200) for $18. The fishing stuff was pretty picked thru but they still had tents and camping gear. If you have a Kmart nearby its worth a walk thru.

Missing fish / Bad hookset
The lower you are the less line you are picking up with the rod sweep, and you can't get any lower than a yak. Make sure you reel up a lot more slack than your used to on the bank. A longer rod and less stretch in the line would help as well.

Using spoons to catch bass.
Big flutter spoons are all the rage on Kentucky lake these days.

Flourocarbon to flourocarbon for line shy smallies
attached 6x floro tippet to floro leaders all the time while trout fishing without issues.(keep in mind that's with very light rods and small hooks) blood knot or double surgeons knot should do the trick. there's a good you tube video of a guide tying a blood knot with a tooth pick. the tooth pick trick works and makes the knot much easier to tie.

Tips on casting with fluoro?
Use mono backing on half the spool and don't overspool the floro. It'll help the casting and save some cash.

Finding creek smallmouth
It's not the lake it's the smallmouth strain. Most, if not all, of the native stream smallmouth in sw Arkansas are not lake combatable. Game and fish tried stocking native strains in lake Ouachita but stopped due to lack of success. They resorted to getting fish from Tennessee to stock. If they are native then they don't like lakes. I think they are called neosho smallmouth. I don't know that they never go to the lake but they won't stay there.

Stupid mistake
I say well done. You'll never have to do laundry again.

Help!
Look at your line where it broke. If there's a little curl,it's your knot. If it's a clean break, could be bad line, drag too tight, or big fish got you around a limb or something.

Fishing road trip
Another couple of areas to check out between Little Rock and Memphis is lower Arkansas River near Pendleton, AR little south of I-40. You have some big backwater areas there (coal pile, merisach lake) that are loaded with big bass. You can also check out the lower white river, tons and tons of little horseshoe lakes (1/2 of which are named horseshoe lake).

Favorite Time for Numbers of Big Fish
I like post spawn as well. I love buzz bait fishing and it's on fire in the late spawn and post spawn. I catch a lot of numbers in summer deep cranking but a five pounder is a little tougher to come by.

First Bass Boat
I was thinking same thing. In 10 years they have made a lot of improvements to tin boats. You may find the 16' fishes bigger than the 17.5'. are there any electronics?

Summer fishing without electronics
Sure. Any shallow obstruction will show up as disturbance on the surface in current. Whether its a rock pile, sand bar, jetty, or a riffle. Deeper water is almost always on the outside bends in a river. On bigger rivers with rock jetties and wing dams there will be disturbed water on the upstream and downstream sides of the submerged jetty and a slick right where the rocks are located, once you've seen a couple they're real easy to spot. These submerged jetties are hot spots in summer and good things to avoid while boating. Also, if you see areas where trees wash up on shore, there is usually more out in the river that are submerged. The debree tends to be deposited in the same spot over and over.

Summer fishing without electronics
fish rivers. you don't need a sonar if you can read the current, even in large rivers its obvious where the deeper water is and where the current breaks.

Trolling motor foot pain
Catt, I was thinking of a hand control. Makes sense for several reasons; less clutter on the deck, lower price, less things to go bad. What model do you use?
