  1. I don't know how the two interact together but, I do know on that sometimes on the Susquehanna in PA I have had some big carp pick up my tubes and make a two Zip Code run. I have caught them up to 40lbs. Put the trolling motor on high, loosen the drag some and hang on!!! Its he** on the old #8 test line, lol.
  2. I don't care what any of you say, I am going to continue to use my Steetz rods with my Zebco 202 Snoopy reels !!!
  3. The Torpedo line, Tiny, Baby, etc. and the Devils Horse.
  4. Abu Garcia 5600 series C3 or C4, hands down.IMHO.
  5. I wanted to put in a poll for a yes or no on bedding bass. I don't want any names or want to start a big fiasco. I just wanted to get a idea of what fisherman think about fishing for bedding females so, please don't send any opinions either way if you don't mind. I feel it would just turn into one of those no win arguments.
  6. You will need knee surgery !!!
  7. Hey Avid, No, there are no real off limit areas except for two that I know of in the spring. We have a season like most states where it is catch and release only. The two places I am speaking of could have been a experiment for all I know. I fished the Federation trail for a lot of years and I remember making a 25 mile run from Gunpowder near Baltimore to Havre De Grace on the Upper Chesapeake Bay and they had a place marked " NO FISHING " in which is a spawning area. This same thing happened to me when we left Washington DC and ran to a creek called Nanjamoy on the Lower Potomac River and it was marked as well. My big push was after the floods in the Upper Potomac around 96 when we had a fish kill of over 50% because the fish got trapped in the C&O canal and died. We wanted a no spawn bed season for at least 5 years but, it never came to pass. I went today and the smallies are looking healthy and we had a lot of 2 - 3 lb fish. I would like a happy median between bed fisherman and the ones against it. I would just like to see maybe one or two bedding areas per body of water shut down around the month of May here in which would keep everyone happy. Does it hurt fish to pull them off the bed? I guess I cannot say either way. I still believe in my heart that leaving at least some of the fish alone would help. JMO. I have received a lot of negative feedback on this. The guys like to catch those easy big fish to brag about. I still think its like shooting fish in a barrel but, I used to do it and I am not a bad guy so what can I say? Like I said earlier, if you can't beat them join them. I am awful tempted but, I know, at least for me, I would not feel right about it. It would be like shooting a ten point out of the truck window. There is no satisfaction in that. JMHO.
  8. Flippin the Hydrilla with a 4 " or 5 " Black/Red Flake tube or a Zoom Speed Vibe in Junebug paired with a Gammy G-Lock hook and a 1/2oz to 3/4oz pegged bullet wt has always been a tactic that works great for me. There is a lake near me that just gets full of this stuff and most guys quit fishing it when it does but, my buddy and I go into it with this tactic and catch some good fish.
  9. You just cannot beat a Team Allstar for the money. Another good one for the money is a Gator Rod.
  10. Abu Garcia 5601 C3 or C4 Abu Garcia 4601
  11. I rode for about 15 years until 1983. To make a long story short. I was on a back road went around a turn on this very narrow road and met a van head on. I broke 13 bones, my female passenger broke both arms and my Candy Apple Red 1981 Harley was toast, to say the least. I have not been on a bike since.
  12. I am with Alpster. After 35 years of chasing bass I have to say a red shad and black shad are two of the best, hands down. I only carry six color worms anymore. Culprit Red Shad, Black Shad, Blueberry Tassel Tails and Blue Fleck Power Bait Worms along with Green pumpkin Trick worms. I also carry Wasp pencil worms in Green Pumpkin. Thats all I need personally.
  13. Honest I did not do it intentionally. It was a accident but, funny as he** none the less. Boy, does he owe me big time .
  14. Yes, we have to here in Maryland until May 15th at all times while on the river. He was just asking me the last trip if I thought the self inflatables really worked, we got our answer. I know I shouldn't have laughed but, when that life jacket blew open I could not control myself. Fortunately we both carry dry cloths in the vehicle for just such a emergency.........lol. ;D I am sorry, it was great he had on a PFD, you just had to be there, lol. ;D
  15. Rule 1: Never have the trolling motor on high and hit the pedal when your best bud has one foot on the motor in the back of the boat and is taking a whizz !!! The water was 57 yesterday and I think he experienced shrinkage !!! By the way, how much are the rearming kits for the Mustang Sospenders, lol. ;D Oh no, I didn't laugh. ;D He changed my name yesterday from Jim to SSOAB,lol.
  16. Now you two stop that, didn't your Moms tell you it would make you go blind !!! ;D
  17. Right on Avid. I drink my sodas out of a plastic bottle and I drink my milk out of a plastic jug, so...........lol. ;D
  18. Let me correct my spelling, its not Battonkill LA, its Battenkill LA. I got mine on Ebay for 125 bucks new in a box. Good deal. This is a great reel for what I know about fly reels. I have never had a problem with it. For Redline or whomever is interested here is a link. - 45k
  19. Chhhaaaaa-Chinnnnnng, nice bird !!! They make your old heart pound, don't they?,lol. Good job.
  20. Touche' T-Rig. First of all what I was saying did not sound very nice and I apologize for how it came out. Secondly, I think maybe after all these years of attempting to get " Zones " instilled to guard bedding bass, at least in some areas of each lake, it all seems for nothing. Here I am typing while there are a ton of guys out there this morning pounding the beds and just slaying the nice big bass. I have gotten some calls the last few days on some of my friends outings and they have caught some big females off the beds. Maybe you are right T-Rig, if you can't beat them, join them. Have a good year and thanks for the interesting info.
  21. Wow, I am comfortable in the fast water of the Susquehanna and big smallies with my 7wt Lefty Kreh TiCr rod and Battonkill LA reel. I am obviously doing something wrong if I am using a 7wt for these fish and you are catching 9.5 bass on a 5wt along with 9-10 catfish. Also, #10 bass on 1wt's? Everyone is saying a moderate action rod is best for beginners. I had one and when I bought the fast action I found it easier to cast, at least for me. I need to go to a fly fishing school. I am embarrassed. I obviously need to go back to square one.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up Fishers of Men. I have been obviously duped !!! ;D
  23. Dont feel guilty because if you dont do it someone else will!
  24. Sorry Raul. I just copied what it had on the web site. Any way you slice or dice it, you would need a backhoe to pick up his piles, lol.
