  1. Great pic. Thats half of the fun for me while fishing, watching the great outdoors unfold under my eyes. I see deer, turkeys, foxes, eagles, etc do all sorts of neat things while on the water. Again, thanks for the pics, way cool stuff.
  2. I use dynamite and C-4. The neighbors complain about the noise but, I don't have any more moles !!! ;D
  3. I have a remedy, when your Senko gets tore up just put on a new one and be thankful your getting bit. I for one am not going to spend my fishing day patching up Senkos and saving 50 cents.
  4. I am with RW on this one. I only through natural darker colors and sometimes white. I threw a pink stick bait once and a smallie came to my boat with its fins on its hips and told me " Thtop it you thilly boy, you smell like fish you big brute "!
  5. I use the Team All Star 6' 10" for my spinner baits, its also a great worming rod. The rod Flechero built me is a 6-10 all star, says "fast" but it's much more of a balanced flex. works great for multiple app's.
  6. Hey FlyPhisher, no harm, no foul. Yes, I did get ruffled when you spoke of shooting dogs. I love dogs big time. If you are a farm boy I can see your point somewhat. I grew up working a dairy farm. When you first posted it just came about as you shooting anything that walked on your property, thats all. I cannot think of any reason to shoot a dog though unless you have a pack of wild ones that are getting into the animals. I know we had a small bunch that used to come in and attack the newborn calves and eat them from time to time. They had to be shot, as you know the price of dairy cattle from good stock. I guess I was too quick to judge and it is something I have to work on. Have a good one. From one farm boy to another: Letter from a Farm Kid (Now at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, Marine Corps Recruit Training) Dear Ma and Pa: I am well. Hope you are too. Tell Brother Walt and Brother Elmer that the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before all of the places are filled. I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m., but I am getting so I like to sleep late. Tell Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay... practically nothing. Men got to shave but it's not so bad... there's warm water. Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc., but kind of weak on chops, potatoes, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie, and other regular food, but tell Walt and Elmer you can always sit by the two city boys that live on coffee. Their food plus yours holds you 'til noon when you get fed again. It's no wonder these city boys can't walk much. We go on "route marches," which the platoon sergeant says are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it's not my place to tell him different. A "route march" is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys get sore feet and we all ride back in trucks. The country is nice but awful flat. The sergeant is like a school teacher. He nags a lot. The captain is like the school board. Majors and colonels just ride around and frown. They don't bother you none. This next will kill Walt and Elmer with laughing. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk head and don't move, and it ain't shooting at you like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes. Then we have what they call hand-to-hand combat training. You get to wrestle with them city boys. I have to be real careful though, they break real easy. It ain't like fighting with that ole bull at home. I'm about the best they got in this except for that Tug Jordan from over in Silver Lake. I only beat him once. He joined up the same time as me, but I'm only 5'6" and 130 pounds and he's 6'8" and near 300 pounds dry. Be sure to tell Walt and Elmer to hurry and join up before other fellers get onto this setup and come stampeding on in. Your loving daughter, Tammy Jo
  7. Thanks P rock. Its good to have you back around. I missed your post. Most of the guys in that section of the U.P. have been fishing it way before it was popular to do so. My friend owns the bait shop across the street from the ramp. It is a party section where a lot of kids come to the bank on the weekends and party and there are a lot of night fisherman fishing for Catfish. I have seen most of them clean up and take their trash with them. Its always just a few that do not. This group I talked about are trouble. They are also a pretty tough bunch. I have to admit, when I pulled up to the ramp and saw them I knew it was going to be trouble, big trouble. I am not one to pull the gun out and would just as soon nobody knows I even carry it in the boat. I fish alone on that section frequently and just feel safer with it in the boat. I am sure they had a gun as well. Yes, the old posse coming to the ramp from the shop with shotguns was a welcome sight, I must admit, lol. I have seen that rough crew since and they said a few things but, that was about it. I guess them knowing I carry in the boat keeps them toned down somewhat. I let them ramble. They always throw beer cans and paper in the river if I go by and I just laugh at them. Its usually all drunk talk anyway. I pick up the stuff when I can.
  8. I use the Trojan brand in the banana yellow color. ;D
  9. Hey Catt, why not use 8 or 10 small 12" bass instead of the 4 pounder? or are you just pulling our chain?,lol. ;D
  10. I agree 100%. Along the Upper Potomac here in Maryland along each little path leading to the river I always see empty worm cartons, empty tackle packs and drink bottles. Most of us go in a bag up some of the stuff after the fishing day. We don't get it all but, every little bit hurts. I saw some guys camping last year and when I was going back down river in the afternoon they were leaving and had a virtual land fill laying in the area. I told them I had some trash bags in the boat if they needed them and they told me to to come in and pick it up if it bothered me. They were hammered. I just went on down river and called the DNR on my cell. They got fined big time and stopped at a local bait shop along the river and asked the guy if he knew me and went to the ramp and waited on me. I pulled up and they were going to clean my clock. Some of the guys from the shop came down to the ramp expecting what was going to happen. They had shotguns with them and never said a word except to me, as in Hello Jim, fish biting? I pulled my .357 Colt Python out and laid it on the butt seat without saying a word. They just got in their car and left, lol.
  11. Four pound test, eight pound test? Fishing equipment is a tool. You are using the wrong ones for what structure you are fishing. You need a baitcaster, MH rod and #20 test for fishing the narly stuff. I use #8 in open water but, light line and brush is just asking for a break off.
  12. If you notice, everyone is smiling except the guy holding the snakes head, lol.
  13. Hey Countryboy, I would love to shoot 3D with you. I would even use my junkie PSE bow, the one thats taken 9 nice bucks and can hit a quarter at 10, 20, and 30 yards practically every time and thats with my old butt pulling it. The old PSE Baby G is a few years old but, still still spits those Carbon Force arrows pretty fast and puts those 100gr Spitfires right on their mark
  14. ...and have a nice day.
  15. Hey MKtrout, have you ever thought about becoming a diplomat, I think you missed your calling. ;D
  16. Dear Abby, opps, I mean, Dear Avid, I have tried going into town and picking up girls ( literally ) like Ernest T. Bass and I got arrested. I also tried throwing a rock through their window with the same results. What am I doing wrong?
  17. Hey, thats not funny, that was me !!!! ;D
  18. I was just expressing my own opinion Flyphisher. I understand there is a need at times for pest control. No need to get all puffy. I was going to lash into you until I saw your age. I am not going to argue with a kid. I guess you just had a bad day. Relax. I am on your side. I hunt and fish too although I think your practice of shooting dogs is cheesy. Sounds to me like you are a immature guy who is trigger happy. I hope you grow out of this as you get a little older and wiser.
  19. Remember Avid, tuck and roll my friend, tuck and roll. ;D
  20. Good informative post Rolo.
  21. I guess I will not live long enough to see another Triple Crown winner, lol. I was not convinced that Street Smart had it in him and really thought it was going to be Hard Spun, and it dam near was. I was shocked when Curlin won, especially when he stumbled at the gate. He showed his heart on the third turn and last leg though. What a good race.

Same high wind here Avid. I feel beat up. Two foot rollers and you had to wrap your leg around the butt seat to stay in the boat, lol. We had a cold front as well. I fished for two hours before I finally got a handle on them. I stayed with a 1/2 oz spinnerbait in white with Indiana gold blades and we managed 35 green ones on the wind blown shores on the outside of the coves. My biggest was 4-14. Man, w :)e really had to work for those fish. I am couch bound, I am getting to old for this stuff. My buddy stuck with his no. 7 Shad Rap and did well also.
  23. Yea, I rig mine the same way RW. I would say my hookup rate is about 90%. Maybe I have been too quick on the draw. I just don't seem to have this problem with other soft plastics. Maybe its in my head, lol. I use #8 and a MH spinning rod for FI's in the local lake where I have been fishing lately. Maybe I should go back to the medium. I just don't like a medium for green bass myself but, I will give her another shot. I am in open water on the drop offs when I have been using them. By the way, how are the smallies doing down there? It has been a excellent year here so far. Lots of quality fish, and the bite has been non stop so far. I went with my buddy the last few times for green bass because he purchased a new glass boat and wanted to run it. I have had enough of the green ones and lake fishing. I am getting back in the tin boat jet drive with my good ole stick steering and heading back up for some real bass, the brown ones!!!,lol. ;D
