  1. Since my health is crap, and my friends are goobers, I am still having the party !!! I am going to make a cut out of Mars with the canals and all and hang it in a tree, lol, ;D, I am sure they will still hang out and drink my beer, eat the shrimp and ribs.
  2. My stand is 30 yards from my deck so........
  3. Thanks for the headsup CPVENOM. We were all going to have a BBQ at my house and look at this through the telescope. I looked in Astronomy News and saw nothing concerning such a event. Da**, I was looking forward to it. So, this is just another internet farce that comes out from time to time?
  4. I as well chose to fish deep most of the time, and as was said, thats relative to where you are fishing. That being said, if I am at a body of water and the crowd is down I love flippin shallow cover like wood, trees, and isolated weed beds. I have caught some real hogs fishing like this, plus its a blast, at least for me. A flippin stick, #20 test line, along with a Jig, worm or tube is one of my favorite ways to fish for green bass. My first choice is a 1/2oz jig, usually black, and a Zoom Flippin Blue or Sapphire Pro Chunk as a trailer.
  5. Muddy, ;D ;D ;D, you don't happen to live under some power lines or near a nuclear plant do you?,lol. That rendition of A & C was great. ;D
  6. Shhhhhhhhh, RW, don't tell these guys about the Hula Grub. Hey guys, don't ever use a HG for smallies, they don't work. ;D
  7. Avid, I am amazed that you put a Dylan Thomas poem in. He is one of my favorites. I used to get angry in school about his poetry. Its always seemed so fragmented but, I found out it wasn't him, it was the reader. He had a solid grasp of the English lanquage that was on a way higher level than most. He was pretty amazing for a high school drop out and full blown drunk. RIP Louisa May Alcott quote- "I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship." The older you get, the more sense this famous quote makes.
  8. RW, we found out up here what the problem was as summer smallies can be frustrating at sometimes, at least for big ones. My buddies talk about the " summer gremlins ". They live under the bridges and along the river in those trees with the holes in them. Around the middle of May they shrink all the smallies and reconstitute them around the end of October. Yes, we have seen them, usually from my friends deck whom lives along the river and mostly during BBQ's after many cold beers !!! We will try to get a picture.
  9. Muddy, Why don't you send Avid the " Muddie PC Doctor Tool Repair Kit "? Black electical tape, Duct tape, wire cutters, vise grips, and claw hammer?
  10. ----------"When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." - Chief Aupumut (1725), Mohican.--------
  11. I fish the rivers here in MD and smallies don't always go by the book I can assure you. However, three places keep us in tune and our rods bent that come to mind for summer smallies. First thing in the morning I fish the grass, usually with a Cavitron, Spittin Image or Super Fluke. As the sun comes up I fish the main river channel almost exclusivly. I know our rivers like the back of my hand and if you are in a place where the average depth is say 1-5 feet and the main channel runs 12-20 feet it gets easy. I follow the channel with my depth finder or flasher and pinpoint underwater ledges, boulders, rocky bottoms and sunken logs. I usually go to a 1/4 to 3/8oz jighead/tube combo and throw straight up river. I like a 6'6"- 7' rod in med action with fast-xtra fast tip and #6 line in the summer while channel fishing. I make long cast because of the deeper water. Just cast, let it hit bottom, pop,pop works. Also, I like to fish the overhanging shade trees at times when I can't get anything else going. I have had some good days doing this, although, its not much of a big fish producer. Another area that works in the summer is " the push ". It is the area above a rapid, ledge, bridge pier, etc. For example. When the current has a little speed and hits a obstruction, like a bridge pier, it creates a dead spot in the current, hensforth " the push ". Smallies will take advantage of this area to rest and use it as a ambush point for food being washed downriver. Mid river grass beds are still my favorite way to fish in the summer even though I like the channel better. I have caught some big smallies on 90+ degree days in 2' of water that is crystal clear, that tuck themselves in that grass. The shad, minnows and such use this grass in the summer as a home so, food + cover = bass. I rarely go near the bank in the summer unless the river is on a fast rise and getting muddy. Good luck.
  12. We give a lot of patients Chantix. It seems to work well. You still have to be in the frame of mind to quit though. No coffee, beer or anything for awhile that gives you that connection to cigs helps. Sunflower seeds or Pumpkin seeds with the shell takes some of the edge off and can be addicting as well. I never go fishing without my Sunflower seeds, lol. Hang in there, it will be well worth it. Drink orange juice or apple juice for awhile in the mornings. After sex, have a lolly pop, lol. ;D
  13. Seems like you have a good setup for smallies. Welcome to the club. Largemouth are fun but, smallmouth are a addiction. Good job.
  14. Tubes, tubes, tubes. Depth? It depends so greatly and the variables are so wide that time on the water is going to tell you that. Its something you have to learn on your own depending on where you fish, via a river or lake, night or day.
  15. Yes, next to fishing, bow hunting is my next love. I hunt in my yard as I have three acres of woods and my stand is 25 yards from my deck so, yes, as long as it is a bow. I do not shoot a gun here as I am to close to a county road and I stay legal. I guess each state has its own regs. I like to shoot 3D and there is a archery shop about 10 miles down the road. It will hone your skills.
  16. Nice chunks T-Rig. Yes, there is no better time of the year than winter for good bass. Here in Maryland and PA it seems around Nov to the ice along with high muddy water is my best time, in the river. I have a few questions since you are Swiss, if you get time. I find it interesting that you guys have bass. If I remember right didn't you tell us once that some soldier brought them over. 1. How is the population of bass and are there just certain areas that hold them? 2. Are there smallies? 3. Do you have a good spawn where you fish? 4. Does a government entity regulate your fishing? 5. How popular is bass fishing there? 6. What is the biggest you have witnessed? 7. Do you guys have tackle supply shops or do you have to order from here? Thanks, Jim

Not because there's a shortage of outstanding desktop PCs on the market. In fact, the opposite is true. The list of high-quality personal computers could fill a phone book eMachines, Gateway, HP/Compaq, ThinkCentre, Systemax and Sony VAIO and their various models, to name just a few. For instance, are you searching for a media center personal computer? Are you looking for a desktop that your kids can use for schoolwork? Maybe you're operating a home business and you need a couple of computers that can take care of all your administrative and networking demands. Some folks buy a desktop system as a spare - a backup in case the primary PC is on the fritz. And many first-time PC buyers are swayed by the sexiest ads and all the bells and whistles. While we believe that nearly everyone would benefit by owning a desktop, it's a good idea to take a step back and decide exactly what you're going to do with the PC once you buy it. That way you avoid purchasing a computer system that's way too advanced for your needs, or conversely one that's ill equipped to meet your demands. Making Your Budget Work for You Once you know exactly why you're buying your PC, you have to decide how much you want to budget for a desktop purchase. Should half your equipment budget be devoted to desktop computers and other PC expenses? Do you want to invest in a system that's loaded with the most advanced computer components so you can position your business digitally to keep pace with future trends? Perhaps you want to consider a refurbished desktop computer. It's a great way to purchase an excellent PC that's been quality inspected - but at a great savings. Maybe you want a desktop simply for the Internet, emailing and doing routine word processing. Regardless of your decision, a bit of careful thinking and research will land you a terrific desktop computer.

Hey Avid, before you go that route, check out www.TigerDirect.comGood luck.
  19. Muddie, once again, ;D ;D ;D. Man, I hope I never get that problem,lol.
  20. Thanks RW. I have a hard time with this technique but, have trained myself over the years to do it. I love cold water ---38-42 degrees for smallies and you have to use this technique most of the time. It will really increase your catch whether it be with a hair jig, Senko, Centipede, or tube. Its just so hard to do sometimes. I am a cast, let it hit bottom, pop, pop, pop and reel in kind of guy, lol. Again, thanks for the heads up on the article. ---------Yes, great pic T-Rig. Where was it taken? Looks like a great area.
