  1. Ha, ha. Thanks for taking it so lightly guys. It was meant that way. The personal tags are fun. If you are sponsored then, yes, wear your sponsors logo's. I fished the Federation Trail for a long time and had to wear that stuff but, they were giving me everthing for free, and I mean everything. I was pround to be a billboard for them. Boy, did they get a bad deal, LOL. We all know the guys I am talking about. It just cracks me up sometimes. We have all met them. Wrapped to the gills and bragging like heck. Early in the morning before the tourney meeting and everyone is sitting around bull craping and a guy next to you gives you a comment like " I already have this tourney won, we are have been on them all week". Yea, right, in tidal water you have them fiqured out, whatever dude. Hey FishCris and Redline Robert its all in jest but, if I ever see you fishing in 100.00 Hager Slacks, I am going to pull your chain for sure, lol. I enjoy your post guys. LBH, I would be proud to wear a ICAST shirt. I do a lot of time with the kids in this area. How much? I will take one.

    Welcome
  3. I am interested in a old pre '64' .257 Roberts in good shape. Know of any?
  4. Please don't take this the wrong way and don't be mad because of my observation and opinion, its surely not meant in a bad way but, I can't help it. The personalized tags, stickers all over the trucks, shirts with a thousand patchs on them and all the other stuff drives me freagin nuts. I had a friend whom just started bass fishing about 8 years ago and is pretty good. We don't fish together anymore because his truck, boat and cloths look like a billboard. I mean, we are going fishing for fun and he is dressed like a complete pro, wears dress pants, and shirts with patches galore. Stickers all over the boat and truck, ghessh, it makes me nuts. Just me though, so take it lightly guys, you have read my post and you know I am a goober, lol. Its just a pet peave, thats all.
  5. Maybe I will catch heck for this but, I am in the healthcare field and it needs to be said to all you young guys with the raging hormones, and I can't stress this enough. Cover up my young friends. STD's are rampant in this day and age and teen pregnancy is way up. Don't take it lightly. Enough said. :-?
  6. I would also like to stress the importance of taking a CPR class. Not only adult CPR but, a more advanced class that includes Child CPR along with the training in the use of a AED Defibrillator. A lot of Malls, stores and such have this equipment now for quick access by the public and you can purchase them for home as well. They are user friendly nowadays and some will coach you through your CPR process. I think everyone should take CPR and a general First Aid class. Call the American Red Cross or your local Hospital for info on classes.
  7. I only use a straight off set shank hook in two instances. One, is when I use big 12-15" worms this time of year for green bass. I use 5/0 hooks for these big worms and run the point almost all the way through. I have gotten much better hookups while using these big worms while using these style hooks. Also, I fish my Super Flukes with a exposed hook in the rivers up here. Let me add that I said Owner Hooks were what I used but, since a suggestion from RW last year I really like the 3/0 X Points for my flukes. These hooks really have awesome penetration. They also keep their sharpness more because they are made of a harder steel. JMO
  8. Smelly Jelly in "Bass Feast" a little dab behind each ear, and maybe in that "secret spot" Drives the lady bass CRRRRRRRRRRrazyyyy Avid--- we don't hate you because you are beautiful !!! 8-) If a nurse smells that Smelly Jelly in that Secret Spot she is going to recommend PCN.
  9. I use a 3/0 for about all of my smallie fishing with the exception of Senko's I use a 2/0 EWG. I pour all my leadheads with a 3/0 nickel coated hook. For Flukes I use a straight 3/0 hook with a offset made by owner.
  10. Yes, I will admit it too. I was fighting that 25lb test for flippin one day and forcing the loop through the eye and my partner said.............. and I thought it was a miracle, lol, how can something so simple escape me !!! Like everyone else, Duhhhhhhh !!!! ;D
  11. Thank goodness you are alright. Hey, that was your warning. Some changes are not optional. All the Plavix, Lipitor, nitro's for Angina, etc, etc is not going to help you without a lifestyle change. diet, excercise, quit smoking, no caffiene, cut back on your carbs and starches and you will be fine. I see them come in all the time for " heartburn " and when I asked how long they have had it they tell me a few weeks. If you are having chest pains, vertigo, malaise, numbness, sweats, and a general sick feeling get to a ER or dial 911--PERIOD, like RIGHT NOW. Age does not matter either. I was giving a 28 year old guy a EKG one day because he was complaining of chestpains and he had a heart attack before I was finished. Be well my friend.
  12. You are fishing in 15-20' of water in thick grass? Jigs like the one CATT was talking about would be my first choice but, another good choice we use around here would be a 4" tube, 4/0 Gammy G-Lock hook with a 1/4-3/8oz bullet sinker that is pegged. Insert a rattle. A great all around choice as far as color would be Black/Red Flake, it works everywhere for green bass. Also, don't be afraid to try Green Pumpkin or Junebug as well. Remember, that grass floats on top but, underneath it can open up. This time of year fish the dropoffs. Say a area runs around 2-8' then drops off to a creek channel. They like to move up and down these channel walls this time of year. Later and higher the sun, thicker and deeper the cover. By all means thats not a rule, just a suggestion. Let them tell you where they are at and don't be afraid of the thick stuff. I see a lot of guys go along the outside edges because its easy. Don't be afraid to flip in the holes way back in the thick.
  13. Load up for next year? Its only August. The good fishing won't start again until late October up through January. Don't put that stuff away during the best time of the year for big fish namely December.
  14. Fish deeper structure during a cold front although, this is for later in the year. As hot as its been around the country I don't think the cold front they are talking about for a couple of days will change much of anything unless its enough to drop the surface temp 5 or 6 degrees.
  15. Hey, watch it there buddy, I am a Catholic, but, it was funny.
  16. OK, RW. If its as good in those snowing sideways, ice at the ramp and snot running down my chin days as it has been in the warm weather, I will restring all my spinning rods with it. If it breaks on me I am sending a bear to your door!!! ;D
  17. You go boy !!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure it will be the Cats A**, thats a Western Maryland compliment by the way !!!
  18. I am a winter smallie kind of guy fishing water temps in the 38-42 degree mark. I would not use YS in the cold weather although I have not tried it enough to really make that statement but, say, with water temps in the thirties I don't think I would trust it as much. RW could tell you more about its properties in cold water. I do like it in open water and deep water situations. I am going to give myself away and probably get laughed at but, for smallies in the rivers I fish its mostly if not all, BPS Excel line in #8 test---Green. 1500 yards for ten bucks and I change my line often. Its not the best line out there but, it works so well for me, its what I use. Its a great winter line. It does tend to be stretchy so a hard hook set on a long cast is needed plus the stretch is a good thing in the winter. I have lost very, very few big smallies on this line. I consider the YS #6 a finesse application line. It is good stuff and at least for summer it performs well. Very abrasion resistant I might add and I have never broken off a fish with it. We are not talking little smallies either nor slow open water but, fast water, rocky areas, is where I am at 99% of the time.
  19. Gman, absolutly use a whisker bisquit. I love mine. They don't affect your shooting in a noticable enough way to worry about it. Mine shoots great. At 10,20 and 30 yards I am hitting a 50cent piece sized mark every time. Thats on my target in my yard and being ground level now. I will, although, recommend using a release alone with the WB. If you want to use your fingers, thats fine, but, when I went to a release about 10 years ago it improved my shooting 100%. I also use the solid WB and not the V cut one. No problems.
  20. OK, we did the braid thing so I might as well get it out of my system. Here goes. I still use only copoly without any hassles. I do use a blend in #6 test of Yozuri Soft that I like. I have tried pure flouro and in my opinion it's too stiff, it gets brittle, and although I think the abrasion is good so is XT. Rough it up or get a kink in it and it stands out like a sore thumb. It is completly useless on spinning gear, other than maybe big reels like a Shimano 4000. It sinks so, buzzbaits and most topwaters are a waste on it. So, whats the point. My green line does fine. Ok, I am going to tuck and roll again, see ya !!!!
  21. What a memory Ronnie. Its hard to expain the beauty of that state unless you have been there. Its pretty amazing. Doors open, I PM'ed you and no problem.
  22. Wow, I am happy about this post. Everyone maintained well. I really thought it would be a shooting match. I am not a braid hater. I just don't like the feel of it. And yes, I can see where it can be a tool for top waters in the spatterdock or in the slop. I personaly will never use it again but, it certainly can be a good tool. Thanks for keeping it kind. Now, about that crappy brittle, too stiff, pure Flourocarbon..................
  23. Huh? What? Whose there? You have to speak up sonny!!!! Oh, sorry I didn't hear you, I was in changing my Depends !!! Happy B-Day dude, and many happy healthy ones to come. Now where did I put.................................
  24. Cajun, thanks for jumping on board, but, save yourself boy, lol, I have a feeling that by the time this post is over I will be in my basement crying like a little Nancy Boy in the corner, lol. ;D
