Flurocabon For Topwater You Shoul Give It A Try
If you want a subsurface walk the dog effect or something comparable, why not just use a Bagleys Bang O Lure ( one of my best smallie baits ), Floating Rapala or even a Baby 1 Minus which has a wide wobble?

Snappin Turtle Soup
When I was young the guys used to set " Bush Bobs " for snappers which consisted of the old black Dacron line tied to tree brances along the local river and ponds with cut bait added to the hook. We use to make two kinds of soup. One was like a potato soup and one was like crab soup. I have not had any in years. They used to put them in wire cages and lower them in a old hand dug well to purge them for a week or so. I do remember they looked like a pain to clean. I thought maybe you southern guys still made it. Anyone?

Glad X 2
Good luck on your fishing these ponds. I would bet they contain some hogs. When I was young I used to rabbit, pheasant and quail hunt a lot. I used to ride by this farm and see all these pheasants everywhere. It was a Mennonite farm. I finally got the nerve one day to ask and when I approached them I told them that if they would let me hunt, when it came time to bail hay and straw every year, I would help. I had long hair and a beard when I was a young one. I never thought they would say yes. I worked a dairy farm milking all my life ( 208 head at one time ) and I was rented out to pick corn and Combine every season. When they found out I was on the up and up, they gave me permission. I hunted that place for many years and killed a lot of pheasants. I always offered some to them, as well as, some rabbits. I helped bail every year. We got to be friends. After awhile when I was done hunting they would invite me for lunch. I always timed it right. Their lunches consisted of beef, ham, chicken, beans and everything else out of the garden, homemade breads and deserts. It was great. The Mennonites and Amish sure can cook. Great times I had there. But, when those people work, they work. They about killed me !!!,lol.

Omega 3's
Raul, on your next doctor visit ask him about Omacor. Each capsule provides 1gr of Omega 3 Acid. I take two a day. The company is Reliant. The drug reps give us this stuff all the time and it has become popular with some of the local physicians here.

Team All Star 6' 10 " MH. It is fine for flippin, and is a good rod for wormin and pitchin as well. I use mine for a spinnerbait rod, as well. Its a great all around rod for the money.

what works better?
I love early mornings but, for smallies I have had more luck in the evenings around here. Topwater and about a hour before dark seems to be good for some reason. Some of the best big green bass are caught in the afternoons though, say between 10:00am and 2:00pm. They are just tighter to cover, like shade from a overhanging tree, boat docks, grass and such, or a little deeper.

This sucks for me
That bites. It may be a blessing in disquise. If you were somewhere with no decent medical attention it could have been much worse. The Pulmonory test and Scratch Test will at least give you the causitive reasons. Thats half the battle. I have a feeling that you will be lugging some Epinephrine around, which is used to treat anaphylaxis and acute bronchial spasms for just such emergencys. Its the same thing with people allergic to bee stings. After the test the physician will come up with a diagnosis and alternatives for you. Also, it was a wake up call to show you what is really important in life. Without sounding like a Guru, one of the worse things about getting older is realizing your mortality. You lose a sense of innosense when you get older. But, you also get wiser and stronger. Sorry about the spelling, I am too tired to check, lol. Good luck, it will be fine.

wonder why superstar athletes get paid Huge $$$$??
Avid, yes, she is pretty fine. I played soccer all through high school. I loved that game, well, at least playing it. Its the biggest game in the world. I just don't think it will take off here. I think one of the main reasons is the NFL. It will never take over that. The NFL is so American and Soccer is so Euro and South American. But, nothing surpises me anymore. We are from the old world, kids think different now, so who knows. Who would have ever thought that a guy like me would follow tennis, tennis mind you. I love that game now. I watch and follow the scores all the time. It all started when I first saw Anna Kornakova.............. Man, sorry, I need to regroup.

When smallies don't act like smallies.
A friend dropped by the other day to pick up some leadheads. I bought all the stuff years ago to make them and sell them. I have yet to make a penny, as I always give them to my buddies, lol. We were having a cold one and he brought up about the time we were fishing a small club tourny and it had to be close to 98 degrees that day. The river was low and gin clear. We were at the Harrisburg Pa airport. I ran the boat up first thing to fish some deeper water by a steel mill. It runs 6-12 close to there. We thought that would be the ticket. Nada, none, 0, fish in about three hours. It was also a bluebird sky day, in which always is tough for me anyway. By noon, either one of us had a keeper. We were perplexed. We floated over a big pebble covered shoal in about 1' to 1 1/2' of water and saw all these fins sticking up out of the water and trashing about and thought they were suckers or small carp. I cast over to the area and caught a nice three pound smallie, he cast and did the same. We limited out in like 20 minutes. Before we left I had to run over and see what was bringing them in and I saw a bunch of crawdad shell looking things in the water. We deduced that the crawdads or at least some were molting their shells in that area at that time. Pretty neat stuff. So, you never know what the day will bring. Sometimes maybe you just have to think outside of the box I guess.

Hot river smallie bait
RW, a few years back I was working a table at the Baltimore Boat Show and got to talking to Woo Daves whom was helping with his friend whom owns Gator Rods out of Fla. ( check them out ) and we went and got some hotdogs and B.S.ed for awile. I was complaining about the fish in the summer on a lake near me and he was a fan of The Ledge Busters. I bought some and never looked back. They are great on the deep points up here in the summer. Hey, I am going to by some LC Slender Pointers too. I am as bad as the next guy listening to all the boat ramp talk. I just never admit it to anyone, lol. ;D

Jerk Bait questions
You are right. The Tenn. Shad Huskey Jerk in no. 10 and I use no. 8 in real low, clear water, is a producer on the Susquehanna and Upper Potomac. I get peed when some of the finish came of because of the rocks but, the bass don't care, so I don't give them away anymore, lol.

what Glenn posted on Houston thread makes sense
Without going into things I have no control over, such as the Vick case, allow me to say this. Muddy, you have opened up some of your past to us, you did not tell us all but, I can paint the picture, and I am sure that you getting from that point in life to this, was not a easy task, to say the least. I think you set a fine example of how people can grow and change. Fine job. Let me interject something here for the young guys. Don't get caught up in all the crap out there. Use your freakin heads young ones. Guys like Muddy are role models to look up to. You have choices.

Re: Throw tubes up river.
Yes, it could have been a good thread. I did not pick up my rod and go home HPBB, I just felt myself getting a little angry at the terminology used. Misleading, and inaccurate were strong words and two I deemed inapropriate for the conversation, in other words, I was readin between the lines. I just nipped myself in the bud and shut it down. Plus, that section of river is big and a numbers area in the winter and when Bassnleo pushed " drifting ", trust me, you cannot do that there. I was picturing one of the young guys in here going there and getting himself killed. He was not seeing this area. I agreed with him that some sections " drifting " can and does work. I don't do it but, have taken many flyfisherman drifting in the Harrisburg Airport area and see guys catch fish that way. We were talking of high, fast, water. Like you said, two different rivers. The Susky can hurt you. I am still confident that working your way up, and throwing up is going to put many more fish in the boat. Again, its preferance and a persons ablilitys and confidance that puts smallies in the boat. Its yesterdays news anyway. Hell, I am not mad at a difference of opinion, just the disrespect of the words, misleading and inaccurate. Plus, I got a lesson on tube wts. Ghezzz Louise, I have been smallie fishing for over 35 years and was a river guide for over 17, I mean, don't insult me to boot. I am not mad, I am just older, have not felt well, and grouchy, so I keep myself in check anymore before I do act like a idiot, ya know?,LOL. Have a good one fellas. ---Jim

Hot river smallie bait
LOL, Nothing L. S. has is a secret. Have you noticed how much those Walleye love those Jerkbaits? I don't fish for them but, a guy whom we call " Mr. Walleye " fishes for them exclusivly between Dam #4 and Shepardstown and I talk to him from time to time, real nice guy by the way, and he said to use this and that, and one thing he had mentioned was a Rogue or Husky Jerk in silver with a blue back. I put one on one day up around #4 and cleaned up on them. I had two over 25 inches. I could not believe it. Pretty cool stuff. He said Jan and Feb are the best times for them if the river is not froze over. I am smallie fishing then but, I will give the Walleye a shot now and again. Plus, they are delicious.

Trailer Lights @%#&!!!
Four things, Sealed trailer lights ( I don't unplug mine ), buy a soldering gun, solder and shrink tubing ( the kind you slip over your wires and use a lighter to shrink. On your trailer and in your boat there are probably a lot of quick connects and cheap hook ups. Trash all of those and solder all your wires and cover them with shrink wrap. I spent a Saturday doing this and rarely if ever have a problem in either my trailer or boat.

A serious reminder.......
When my son was in Iraq, I cannot tell you how I felt, with the worry and hoping I would not get " the call ". What you have suffered, and the couple that just lost a son is suffering, I cannot even fathom. All I can say is, I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart, to you, the couple you had spoken of and anyone else whom has lost a child.
