Get the heck out of here! What the heck is this...
I was just surfing around checking out some smallie info and ran across this. Is this the infamous " Black Box " I have heard about. I am really naive on this subject. It is truly one of the most crazy things I have ever read. Splain Lucy !!! http://www.bassfishingweapon.com/deal/1/

Muddy - thoughts and prayers tonite
Glad you faired well Muddy. We did not get it as bad as you. Hail, lightning and wind was spooky. My power went out about midnight and came back on around 3:30am or so. I am glad you were not on the news way up in a tree with your " Mooks Gone Wild " tee on being rescued by the local FD. All kidding aside, it is a shame some people lost their homes. That always saddens me.

WHAT IS THE BEST ROD FOR?
My personal favorite is a Team Allstar, 6'10" MH. I use a Abu Garcia 5601 C-3 reel and #15 to #17 test Big Game line for green bass. My smallie setup is a 6'6" Gator Rod in Medium action ( they run a little stiff ) and a Curado 201 reel with #12 BPS Excel line. Its the perfect spinnerbait setups---for me.

Fishing for food
I am not a big fish eater but, in the summer when we would visit my grandmother in Colonial Heights Va outside of Richmond they used to take me fishing for " Flyers " as they called them. We would bring them home and fry them in corn meal and they were excellent. I think a flyer is in the sunfish family. Oh, also, eat all those nasty old green bass you want, just leave the brown ones alone. ;D

Who makes the blanks for Gander Rods?
I was recently at Gander Mountain in Winchester Va. and had a few Pro Guide Series spinning rods in my hand. I really thought they were alright for around 140 bucks. Are the blanks St. Croix?, or should I say, the same ones SC uses, as they sort of felt like it to me.

MOOK shirt....modeling
I was trying to be nice. Its not easy for me with a attractive women wearing a Mook T shirt, holding the best fish species there is. I thought I did well. You don't know how hard it was for me to control myself. I am getting better. I run my mouth too much in here is it is. I am working on that too. I am sure everyone is tired of Justfishins post, ya know? I am just consumed by this sport, as I have for been since I was 8.

What does Finesse Fishing mean to you?
I agree CATT. As FM said, you can use a 14" worm and finesse fish. To me its slowing down, picking a area apart, knowing what to use and why, and being precise in your presentation. Although, I have a lot of days Ron mentioned as well.

Susquehanna River Conditions.
http://newweb.erh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=ctp&gage=HARP1 I thought maybe some of you younger guys whom bought a jetdrive could use this site. NOAA has river conditions for a lot of rivers in any part of the country. This is the one I go by for the Susky. You have to learn the river to decipher what this means for other areas. For instance, if its 4.50 in Harrisburg you can pretty much run at Duncannon or Clemson Island without any problems. You still have to learn how to run certain areas. My optimum river height is between 5.5 and 6 foot as it pushes them on the banks to the eddies. If you are new to the river I would not advise going there if it is under 4' or over 6' for your first few trips, Go with someone whom knows this river, it can hurt you and your boat. I run it at 10, but....... Kind of a rule of thumb, but not always is, river on the rise, fish the eddies on the bank. On the fall, fish the islands. This is just a base line though. Water temp, how fast its rising and other variables you have to learn on your own.---Just trying to help. WEAR A LIFE JACKET WHEN THE GAS MOTOR IS RUNNING AND KEEP YOUR KILL SWITCH HOOKED UP AT ALL TIMES !!!

Trim on old evinrude
I had a similar problem a few years ago on my Evinrude Jet. I have power tilt and trim and it kept leaking off. I had to have the cylinders redone. New packing and wiper rings. Its been fine ever since.

wonder why superstar athletes get paid Huge $$$$??
I really like soccer but, I played it all through school and have followed it since. I can see how it could be boring if you did not grow up with it but, there are more boring things. I have been seeing some of the most boring shows recently. One sport that comes to mind is Curling, ya know the one with the two people with the brooms sweepin ahead of the Curling Stone, now thats boring. I also turned the channel the other day and it showed a audience holding up all these signs and screaming, go, go, go. When it showed the stage, it was a freakin Scrabble Championship,IMGoodness. The fans were going beserk, lol. Oh well, I am a old wore out bugger whom likes to watch Tennis so................

IF You Could
My Dad, whom passed on my 21st birthday. The older I get, the more I miss him. I wish he could have met my son and granddaughter. I would love to spend a day on the water with him, as he loved to fish.

What is your states record smallie?
Well RW, the genetics certainly are there for the potential. My heart thumps at a six pound smallie. I cannot imagine a 10 and up. It does not take much to change the looks of a smallmouth in very short wt increaments. When you catch a 4 its a good thing but, you can tell when you first see them if its a five. A six looks huge to me, and when you get them to the boat, you can tell. The day the guy hooked a seven plus and broke him off in my boat boat, I knew what he had. That was a awesome fish. Believe it or not it was in middle of the summer and I did not expect a fish like that. If I had to take a real educated guess, I would say he was real close to 7-4 or 7-6. Even though Erie has potential, and Cali certainly does, I think the next WR will come from the south. Wilson, Kentucky, Pickwick, Dale Hollow, who knows? I would like to see you get him RW. I would like to hear the story of the day your partner caught that fish. Have a good year.

what Glenn posted on Houston thread makes sense
I was not going to get on this thread but, I agree with RW. There is a difference between " I am sorry " and " I am sorry I got caught ". On the news this evening, he was reported as commenting that he was sorry for his lack of judgement. Never mind saying he was sorry about his mistreatment of the dogs. I just don't understand people like him at all.

What is your states record smallie?
In Maryland it is 8-4. In Pennsylvania it is 8-8. I fish both of these states mostly. I was just curious as to what the potential was for your state and what waters hold the best chance to overtake the current record. I feel that in both MD and PA the individual state records have a good chance of being broken in the next ten years. The fish have been healthy and the rivers are looking good. Although, the 6's have been fewer over the years in the Susquehanna. They are still there. I am all about getting out of the routine of fishing where I always fish and searching out new water in old water, ya know? Also, the longer, warm weather periods I feel will up the chances. Where do you think the next world record will come from? in which I think would have to be 12lbs, correct me if I am wrong.

RW, Loomis BronzeBacks.
Thanks RW, thats what I needed to know. It always scares me when a company makes a attempt at a single species special rod. I prefer a much tighter smallie rod than that. I really like a M in the 8-17lb class. I like a lot of backbone and about the first 8 inches a little stiff, but sensitive. I really prefer a X Fast rod. I was just wondering. I liked the idea of the 7'4" for out in the main river channel. One of these days I will find the perfect rod for me. The closest I ever came was a Pinnacle Tri Wing Ti3. I know it was a cheap rod but the action was to my liking to the T. Only problem was, it only came in 6'. I prefer a 6-6 and would really like a 6-6 and a 7 to this spec. 8-15lb line---1/8-1/2 lure wt in a Extra Fast. Oh well, I would really like to sleep with Anna Kournakova and Maria Sharapova at the same time too but, thats not going to happen either.

A Super Fluke or a Sluggo.

The Question EVERYONE can answer.
Hmmm, I tend to agree with you. The MH 6-6 sounds better for what you are fishing and the 5600 I think might be a better choice over the 4600 if you decide to go with the Abu Garcia and #15 test. Its even a better reel for flippin and pitchin. You can't hurt them if you keep them maintained as you should all reels. Good luck.

Smallies in Lakes - Hard to Find?
C- Rig is good nboucher. I don't use them but, thats why I recommended the Mojo rig. I do use that to cover water and use as a search tool to get a feel of the bottom structure. I use a spinning rod, #6 o #8 test and a 1/4oz Mojo wt about 18" up the line, with a 3/0 EWG hook tipped with a watermelon or green pumpkin Zoom Centipede. pegged. Its basically a finesse C-Rig. I think its a better offer for smallies. Asking around is good but, for me, I like to unlock the water myself. Guys tend to get stuck on areas, and finding your own water is good. I tend to get in ruts as far as area's myself and sometimes I just go to new places to search around. Just my opinion though. Good luck fishing for those smallies, Brown Bass Rule !!!
