Yozuri ultra soft?!
Thanks RW. I have the #6 and I must say, I really like it so far. I put it on my personal smallie rods and it seems to fit the bill. I was curious about the #8 for spinning and green bass. I will not go over #8 on a spinning reel and just wanted a little more umphhh for the spinning and green bass situations. I have yet to have tried the #12 on a couple of my bait casters but, I see trying it in the future. Have a good year.

Wacky Rigging
Before wacky became popular we used to use this method on the gin clears lakes around boat docks using a green pumpkin Zoom centipede. I still do at times.

Knots for drop shotting
First of all, I use drop shot weights, usually in 1/8oz. Secondly, I tie a Palomar but, the only thing I do different is I pass the initial loop through the eye twice. Its seems to give the hook angle a little more substance to keep it in the traditional drop shot manner.

Yozuri ultra soft?!
RW, is there a significant difference, or shall I say noticeable difference in handling, between the Y-soft in #6 and #8 test?

Meanmouth???
I had the thoughts of a hybrid situation at first Chris. The fish you caught were unique. I came to the conclusion that these fish are genuine smallmouth. I agree that you just have a unique situation going on in the lake you are catching these fish. I am just sorrow I cannot be on the lake as well, lol. You go get them. I think you are doing a great job and feel that what you are doing is not luck but, hard work and research that has put these fish in your boat. I will say this. If you put a #12 in the boat, I am selling my home and moving, lol. Good luck and good job.---Jim

I am always timid to throw white baits
I agree with RW. White should be part of your arsenal. I don't use white very often but, it does have its time and place. If the river or lake is Shad populated, this is a great time to swim a white jig. I use them on the Lower Potomac in which is tidal. When the tide is draining the creeks I like to be on the main river at the mouth and swim white jigs, it works. Also, sometimes when I cannot get anything going in the rivers around here it seems a white grub will always boat a few. Good luck.

Favorite western movies?
I loved all the John Wayne, Clint Eastwood , Henry Fonda westerns. In fact I love all the westerns. I would have to say I really liked The Cowboys , The Shootist, Outlaw Josie Wales, Rooster Cogburn ..... they are all classics in there own way. I guess the days of good westerns and the bigger than life heros are over, sad. :'(

i suck at pitchin' with my baitcaster....
Turn all of that crap off and educate your thumb by feathering your spool. When I flip and pitch, I have everything practically free spool. You just practice and it will come to you, good luck.

You got to love the Scots sense of humor. These were actual "Personal Ads" in a Scottish Newspaper: >--------------------------------- Heavy drinker, 35, Edinbourogh area. Seeks gorgeous sex addict interested in a man who loves his pints, cigarettes, Glasgow Celtic Football Club and has been known to start fights on Patrick Street at three o'clock in the morning. >------------------------------- Bitter, disillusioned Ness man, lately rejected by longtime fianc ée, seeks decent, honest, reliable woman, if such a thing still exists in this cruel world of hatchet-faced *******. >------------------------ Ginger haired Perthshire man, a troublemaker, gets slit-eyed and crappy after a few scoops, seeks attractive, wealthy lady for bail purposes, maybe more. >-------- ------------------ Bad tempered, foul-mouthed old wretched, living in a damp cottage in the arse end of Pitlockry, seeks attractive 21 year old blonde lady, with a lovely chest. >-------------------------- Limerick man, 27, medium build, brown hair, blue eyes, seeks alibi for the night of February 27 between 8 PM and 11:30 PM. >-------------------------- Optimistic Mayo man, 35, seeks a blonde 20 year old double-jointed super model, who owns her own brewery, and has an open-minded twin sister.---I know I have to be related to this guy !!! ;D

Cool Tritonman. As far as the Gaelic, I wrote some lowland in here but, if I wrote Highland nobody would know what I was saying, lol. We used mostly the Lowland/Anglic mix when I was young anyway. Its not that hard but, I still can't remember some of it. I am going to look into the meeting of the Clans this year. Should be good whiskey, lol. I am not much on Scot food though. I had enough of that crap when I was young. Give me beef over mutton any day and Haggis?, no way, no how. I think road kill is one step up from that stuff, lol.

Well they found cancer on my grandpa.
First and foremost, prayer is needed. Also, be there for him. He needs you and the rest of the family's support. The good news is that a early diagnosis is critical and it seems this was the case. Treatment nowadays is state of the art and his chances are great to beat this beast. Good luck and my prayers to your grandpa, you and the rest of your family.

Anyone else of Scottish Heritage?
All my people came over in my great grandparents time so, I am not far removed. What a bigger than life bunch my family was when I was a kid. They liked to stay traditional. That is one reason I can still write in Gaelic. We did when we were kids. I have forgotten a lot though. My great granddad was a larger than life guy. He went into the coal mines at 9 and ran the mule teams bringing out the coal. At 13 he went into the mine and retired at 91. He was a pistol. Typical Scot. I remember on Saturday nights, even at his age he would go to the local fire hall and have a touch of " The Whiskey " and dance with all the women, lol. He would push me on the couch and sit on my head and pretend he was farting, lol. They were a lively bunch. I have tons of stories. Being a Scot, I guess you remember when someone died and they would have the wakes, plenty of food and drink and its a wonder they didn't raise the dead with all the noise, lol. Hae ah great yare of fishing, I howp your rods stey bent !, ney remember, don't eat the Haggis !!!
