  1. Good point Catt. your home should be inspected to make sure that there is a secure and locked location for your rifle if you have kids your home should be inspected regularly(6 months maybe) to make sure there still is a secure location -------This government inspection will not take place in my house, I can assure you. Also, let me reiterate a statement I made earlier, a gun never killed anyone.
  2. I look forward to hunting them every year. Morrels are one of my favorite foods. I live in a mushroom paradise. They grow all around my woods. I have three acres and plenty of shrooms. Nothing better than a pan or venison tenderloin simmered with green peppers, red peppers and sweet onions along with morrels rolled in egg and flour and fried in butter, UMMMMMMM Goooooood.
  3. Double beard 22lb 10" and 12", svvvvvveeeeeeeettttttttttt !!!!! Seems I can only get some Jakes coming in so far but, it will happen. I love spring turkey hunting, it makes my heart pound hard !!!
  4. A MH 6' 6" baitcaster and 17lb test Big Game is my setup for traps.
  5. JIgs are my confidence bait. I use them more than anything else and that includes soft plastics. I agree with Avid on this one. If you are new to jig fishing, fish with a tighter line. For me, I always have a finger on my line. I fish a jig on controlled slack. First, 80% of your hits will be on the initial fall. Most of the time it is either a WHACK or THUD feeling, but, then you have the familiar tick, as well. Also, that mushy feeling or the weightless feeling happens too. The more you use a jig the more you will be able to interpret what is going on. Jigs are big fish baits so don't be shy with the hook set. Others disagree in here but, for jigs I use 20lb test and when I set the hook I tend to cross their eyes, lol. Good luck.
  6. First of all, a tip given to me at the end of the day was always a compliment as well as, a sign that your clients had a good day. Its not always about the amount of fish either, as you know they sometimes don't cooperate. I charged 250.00 a day for two for 8hrs. Most of the time each client would give me 25.00. It was rare to have a bad day on the Susquehanna. Some days were better than others and times of year certainly make a difference as well. Big fish times are late Nov up through Dec and mid April to mid May, winter being the best. I don't like to look at it as you would a restaurant bill like 15% but, more as a compliment. I don't think there is a set price for tips. Give him or her a tip according to how your day went. I always tried to laugh, smile, teach, eat well and work my butt of to make sure the day was a good one all the way around.
  7. Yet again, Al Sharpton Wins. His wanting everyone to walk on rice paper without breaking it, " his rice paper ", is succeeding and certainly won, even in our little forum. This is just a personal statement from me, and is in no means a answer or opinion on anyones decisions made in here, its just a personal belief and statement that I feel is self evident in how this particular post was handled. Have a good fishing year, all.
  8. Cephkiller hit the nail on the head. Ok, I am done complaining now. Its back to fishing, or attempting to catch them. These fronts in MD are killing me although, they are rockin and rollin on the Susquehanna in PA right now. Everyone has been catching some good ones. They are biting pretty well there. Tubes in Green Pumpkin/ Smoke Purple tail and a 1/8oz jighead have been a killer on them.
  9. Moby Bass, yes it is Tipper Gore, sorry, I don't know what I was thinking, lol. I certainly do not want this post to turn into a race issue. I did not mean in along that context. My main point was, why is there a certain few, and I will say it again, that can get away with policing our freedom of speech. I say, let Al Sharpton watch the Chapelle show. I like that show and take it as comedy but, if I wanted to cry about political correctness, this show would be it. Hmmmm, I never heard Al say anything about this show or him complain about how black woman are treated in black video or music. He is just another clown putting the lime light on himself. Someone needs to tell him to STHU. I hope he goes on the O' Reilly show, lol. That would be fun.
  10. Thanks RW, sounds good. I am going to make it this weekend. Tell me, when you served it down at Fork did it sound like the Blazing Saddles Scene when the cowboys were eating beans around the campfire?,lol. I'll bet it sounded like a someone firing some .50 cal muzzleloaders !!!
  11. Let me make a statement first. I think what Imus said was insensitive and was a typical Imus speaking before he thought again. That being said, I only have one comment. Who died and left Al Sharpton in charge of rewriting the rules of free speech? Do we have to ask him what we can and cannot say? I don't agree with some of the things Imus says and it was money, sponsors and being insensitive to political correctness that got him fired but, again, where does Al Sharpton get the gall to ask for a resignation. Isn't that up to the FCC and the networks own policing of their shows? Why doesn't he police the rap groups lyrics? They are much more female insensitive and racist I feel. If my post is out of place then delete it, these are just my thoughts and qualms. Its just lately it seems that a few in this world, such as , Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the Tipper O'Neils whom think they have the right to tell me what I can and cannot say.
  12. Maybe the fishing world should get together and put up bill boards all over the country with the president of PETA holding a dog by the tail while giving it a lethal injection,eh?
  13. Hey Avid, I am by far not a " techie " type. Although, my job keeps me on a pc 10-12 hrs a day, it certainly means I am a user. I am not adept at TS. I just suggested the Mozilla Firefox because I really like it better, personally. Its just a browser so it will not harm anything to try it. If you are happy with IE then by all means..... It was just a suggestion. Have a great fishing year my friend.-------Jim
  14. Thanks Glenn for explaining. I just wanted to help somehow. It seems that most of the problem is on my end, evidently. There were a lot of guys in this post that are not having any problems whatsoever so, it must be just me. Have a good one my friend.
  15. If you are going to get Mozilla Firefox, which I recommend, and you have IE 6 thats fine. If you were set up for auto updates and you already downloaded IE 7, dump it. I had problems with conflictions. You will like MFF. www.mozilla.com
  16. You are right LBH. I understand from previous post that Glenn wants to handle this site solo. I see his point, as well. Its obvious he will not except money. I also understand that times of the day, users on line, ISP servers have a lot to do with the idiosyncrasies we have on this site. My general statement was I would like to know what we could do as users. Simple things in a list to avoid such problems, at least to a certain extent, such as, smiley's, too much input on answers, etc, etc. Its obvious that we all like it here or we would not stay here. Basically a list of do's and don'ts would help, I feel that this would help immensely. Just some thoughts, thats all.
  17. The best way to use crawdads is to dip them in butter mixed with a little Old Bay Seasoning !!! Jim
  18. I was curious. Is there anything we can do as users of this site to help speed things up. Lately it has been brutal, at least for me. I understand that Glenn is doing everything he can to adapt to the number of users but, is there anything we can do to help in order to speed things up. I am referring to less input, less smilies, etc, etc. I just want to help if I can and maybe make all of us aware of what is good and not good for this site. I feel this is the best fishing info site on the net as well as being the most fun. Financially it is hard to keep a site like this up and fast per all the users that have come on board. I guess I am asking, what can I do as a user to help? Thanks ---Jim
  19. I have one thing to say. Cabela's Aqua Glow Sticks in 5". Two colors. Watermelon Seed/ Gold Flake, Grape/ Gold Flake. 2.99 per ten pk. Try them is these two colors, you will be happy.
  20. Funny LBH, lol. You were not into the Peyote Buttons while in Texas were you?, lol. ;D
  21. I am a big spinnerbait thrower, especially during the post spawn when they scatter. Its a great search tool for this reason. I really like a short arm spinnerbait as I like to throw them along the breaks and let them flutter down before I begin my retrieve. I have caught a lot of fish this way. What say you my friends?, long arm or short arm and why?
  22. It was a good concept but, don't waster your money.
  23. I have mentioned G-Locks on this site before. I have been using them for flipping 4" & 5" tubes for a while now. They are great for this and I use them on the Fat Ika's as well. They stay on so well if you are flipping trash like wood and spatterdock. I am a fan. :)
  24. Happy Easter to everyone and their family's. Remember why we celebrate this day.
  25. SFC_Al, You might not remember but, you sent me a lot of kind words and some wisdom when my son returned from Iraq after 18 months. Again, I thank you. He is doing pretty well. He still has some things to sort out but, all in all he is well. I just wanted to thank you for your words and I wanted you to know that my prayers are with you and your family during your deployment. I salute you sir, as well as all the men and woman in the military doing their jobs.----Jim
