I never would have handed the rod over... play the fish. Tire it out. And grab it's jaw. Nets help wonders but are not a necessity! You could have got that fish all by yourself ! My PB just over 8 I landed with no net, and was by myself. I'm positive many men on this site have caught bass bigger than mine without a net. Again, I know the net is convenient but is not a necessity.

He was a good friend. So he took it in stride. I had to eat crow one night tho we were fishing a power plant lake. (I had been hitting the bottle a little) and we came into this channel that was coming right from the powerplant. The water was super warm and we were catfishing . After an hour or so we had a run and he had a nice catfish on the line . He had it at the surface and was trying to pull it in.. and I was trying to net it.. and it shook the hook.. I didn't look like such a pro then.

Lol whatttt!?????????? Im sure you have many techniques that produce..but put that on your to do list for 2017. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Have you ever used a GY product that didn't catch bass ? I haven't. And I think this could be even better than the senko in certain situations.

You're missing out seriously !!! It's hard to find them .. I like shopping in person. Cabelas / bass pro/DSG/field n stream etc.. none of them carry the IKAs in my area... I have to order them online. And I do. Do yourself a favor and get a pack. Any color. With a 4/0 EXTRA wide gap ewg( they're very thick ) and rig it skirt up.. These baits work best late spring through early fall though. I'm not sure what your weather is like in West Virginia. I might try using the jig the most if its cold. And a suspending jerkbait. You need to make a summer trip to see your fam!

Ha-ha top 5!!!! That's funny... yea the x-rap is sweet ! I have a x rap shallow shad that is killer when I go pond fishing. Also an x rap countdown that has caught a couple decent ones bombing it out in the middle when they are suspended deep with that summer heat... my favorite is probably the jointed shad rap. I was out on a Jon boat with my buddy one time on a lake I'd never been to. This was awhile ago 5-6 years.. I don't remember what he was throwing but we were getting skunked til I tied one of those on. And caught 3 in 3 casts. He was a little irritated cuz it was "his lake" ha-ha.

I like the fluke. But nearly every product strike king makes is a winner. I'm drooling at the idea of an untouched 6&8acre pond. Senkos. Weightless And the fat ika. Shad rap, And a nice jig. Good luck buddy.

I have a couple.. I'll have to give em a go next time im fishing at night. ! I'm also going to try some chtterbaits next season. do you usually use a trailer ? If so which ones ? Ha-ha yea !? I have a couple that are retired.. mostly because I've had em since I was 12 (over a decade ago) and somehow managed to keep them.. do you have a favorite model ? I know they have em for all situations but surely you have one that's your favorite.

I don't use many buzzbaits. But have a couple nice booyah spinnerbaits. Ditto on the rapala man!

Wow if I could sell what I have in Canada for that price I'd have 1600 dollars easy. Then I'd just go re stock. I think I might just quit my job. Lol

I think the only " at least" to be said about this situation is that one lived.

My Walmart had a bunch of zoom super flukes for 99 cents. I've been using those packs for a few seasons now. And have managed some decent bass on them ! Gotta love that made in the USA sticker too.

You can definitely do that . I only use my phone when I'm on this site.

Ohio offers alot of great fishing. Your location (regionally) is definitely not a problem.. you've been given some good advice. It's supposed to be fun ! Obviously it's more fun when you're catching fish but there are alot of things to enjoy about being on the water . My #1 is I'm not at work. Ha-ha. Fishing isn't as easy as some people (people who don't fish) think. There is alot to know in order to catch bass consistently.. I still haven't figured out how to catch large bass with regularity. But it's part of the game. I may never be able to without some sort of electronics. All the folks who catch big bass consistently seem to have electronics as a common variable. Time on the water trumps everything. Learn something every day, and you'll be on your way.

Do you or have you used the GYB fat ika?

If you Google "drop shot from the bank" many articles will come up from bass resource. And many people will say they have great success with drop shot from the bank. Including one of the mods.

I like the 4/0 deep throat ewg for the ika. That's what I planned on using for the hydra.
