  1. I am from the great N.W. where we fish deep clear water- I would like to fish 6lb floro on one of my baitcasting setups. my 6'9" kistler magnesium ts with a scorpion 1001 mg. I have spinning gear already so I know it is prefered. I would like to give the baitcasting combo a try in not so deep water with a spider jig/grub with a 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig head. What do you think? Is 6lb just to light for a baitcaster? I have baitcasting experience- just some thoughts...
  2. wow this is from before I was member- an interesting read for sure! best part was, "the senko is just a "fad""- wrong, I think about every major soft plastic bait company makes and markets a type of "senko" bait. The name senko is to soft "pen shaped baits" as the name Xerox is to copiers!
  3. the only spros I own are the dean rojas frogs... :-/
  4. I have been looking at that zillion as well- what a gorgeous looking reel- can't go wrong with shimano or daiwa. I am like you I own all shimano's but the zillion intrigues me.
  5. the gycb hula grub is a great bait for smallies- nuff said
  6. I was wondering if any of you guys fish the gary yamamoto kreature deep like more than 10ft? If so do you fish it; jighead, t-rig, C-rig...ect?
  7. like many of you guys- I keep them in their original bags then into the gallon ziplock and finally stored in the plano guide box with no dividers in it.
  8. I got a kvd quantum for xmas last year- not bad but very heavy- for the price it is very reasonable. I have been ruined by higher end reels and so has my pocket change. If that is your price range go for it- obviously there are better reels but the price tag increases as well.
  9. soft plastics: 70% spinnerbait: 15% crankbait/jerkbait:10% topwater:5%
  10. I wanna hear your guys' presentations with this bait. I love'm but am always open for some new Ideas. I like to slow crawl'em on the bottom or just deadstick'em in open water like 10-30ft water is usually clear. What do you guys do?
  11. green pumpkin/watermelon; dominates my plastics- some others but these two are "staple" colors.
  12. not going to count!!! heaps upon heaps of tackle at my house!
  13. I'd put my shimano scorpion 1001 mg up against it anytime... I have a bit invested in it but no more than the Revo STX. I hope the revo's are good- nothing wrong with a little competition. I like shimano for baitcasters and daiwa for spinning gear. Don't see myself going for abu anytime soon...
  14. any of those would be good or I would go with a kistler- I just got a magnesium and it is very nice especially for the price. I is as light as a glx and has been getting very good reviews.
  15. well my scorpion 1001 mg with a moded out carbon fiber handle is also pretty:
  16. the Kistler magnesium is as light as a Loomis GLX! I like loomis/kistler the same far above the rest. I would like to give megabass a try just hard to get a hold of.
  17. Munkin, that ghost minnow sure works well on the smallies huh. man last spring I couldn't keep'm off the line- I found my staysee 90sp ghost minnow to be the best performer- I am sure you have it- if not get one now!
  18. I have the scorpion and like it-ohh so light and smooth; however it comes with a very short handle on it- feels like your turning a wing-nut, I hated that. I did change the handle for a carbon fiber one that is longer- the reel is the best I own now. I have not used the revo so don't know about it. The handle was spendy- $80.00 with bearings to mind you- by the time I got it. I love that reel but it ended up being $250.00 reel after upgrades. I am just warning you about the short handle- I had no idea it was that bad til I got the reel in hand from Japan. Felt so goofy like I was reeling a toy or something! ;D
  19. that is a really neat looking bait- gunna have to get one. I like the why not aspect ;D!! If you are looking for a great popper look no further than the megabass pop-max wow that is a great bait!!!
  20. like the others say- great read and thanx-
  21. yeah I got mine for $22.00 got it to catch fish not collect dust... I quit collection baseball cards when I was in junior high. wow I wonder how much my pop-max pm ragio is worth it has 2004 on it- but I have seen a few of those running around- I do still have the box-
  22. I like my curado- that revo is suposed to be pretty nice tho-
