I caught a 31" channel cat on a crankbait earlier this year! That was a fun fight! I actually caught a catfish on a popper last year too! That was about the last thing I expected to catch on a topwater lure!

Definitely not a smallmouth. Smallies are brown colored, do not have the dark horizontal lines, and usually have some vertical markings.

Not from the shore, but just the other day I was throwing a wacky worm and somehow had the hook get caught in the split ring of a kvd square bill that was in great shape. Couple years ago I found a fully rigged a-rig in a tree, which is not legal here in Iowa!!!

So....how do you feel about that after tonight's game?

I usually start shallow and stay shallow!

I've had good luck with the powerbait shakey worms and roboworms.

Never caught one, but Wednesday night I had one fly in front of me while running down the lake at 50 or so and just miss the pedestal seat by inches! I thought for sure I was going to catch a face full of bird!
