Which braid to FC knot for dropshot leader?
With the line that small why don’t use double uni knot? Easiest of the bunch. Less chances to mess up and as strong as other knot.

Tatula year model changes?
As far as I know there are only 2 Tatula model, the OG and new cork model 2018?, except Tatula XT (stay the same since first came out) and new Tatula Elite rod and AGS. The Tatula elite get update a little in recent year with new size add. The OG Tatula # start with “TAT” the 2018 is “TTU”.

I am done with Abu Garcia. Again.
I found that after I add all magnet, the reel performed very good, better than my Daiwa reel. I can cast weightless baby brush hog with the reel no problem. Now what lb test is your braid line? If you want magnet let me know I have xtra.

Split ring pliers
I use Xuzon pliers. It works for my tiny split ring.

If your spinning rod doesn't have a hook keeper where do you locate yours?
9:00 as when I look at my watch, left side as same as my handle side most of the time. I might try reel stand with hook keeper as @bulldog1935mentioned and a few of my friends like it. added.... okay I went to check as this is my placement of hook keeper at 10:00 on both rod.

If your spinning rod doesn't have a hook keeper where do you locate yours?
I got a few Fuji hook keeper on my spinning rod. I place at 9:00 or 12:00 as long as it far enough to not interfere with my index finger.

Swap 3000 a 2500 spools?
You might be able to swap between ballistic and Tatula spool, not Fuego. I know that 1000 and 2000 are interchangeable but not sure on 2500/3000 size Ballistic. Question, why do you want to go with smaller size spool than what you are using? Added... I checked Ballistic LT schematics for you and most part are the same except Rotor between 2500 and 3000 size. Meaning rotor on 3000 size might be bigger than 2500 for those bigger spool. Therefore smaller spool should fit in bigger rotor. the problem is you might encounter with line lay issue.

When you’re fighting a bass. Can you estimate the size by the fight?
Just a few day ago, I caught two bass not back to back but 15 mins apart. Same setup, same lure same drag. First one was about 4lb caught in 10 FOW around 50’ out in open water no cover at all, second one around 7lb about 5-6 FOW and 20’ with a lot of tree. The first one definitely pull harder, tried to go deep, then came up and jumped a few time. The second one tried to get into tree at first hookset. I had to thumb the spool firm and walked back instead, the bass gave just a few head shakes but easier to pulled out of cover otherwise my 8lb leader with 15lb braid not gonna stand a chance. The first one definitely took me longer than second one to land. first bass open water. second bass with lots of cover.

Reel handle that pivots on a hinge
@bulldog1935i like it might get some myself. A couple friends installed those and like them a lot. It is easier to hook crappie jig in place a lot better than rod’s hook keeper or in my case Fuji hook keeper. Our group use a lot of JDM rods which doesn’t come with hook keeper at all.

Older Shimano Aldebaran Mg7
8-10lb FC I would say perfect. 20lb braid, I never tired that small but if you plan to throw only lightweight lure, you should be fine.

What do I use and why
If I have to choose one would be nail weight, less bulky part sticking out less snag. I also want that tapping sound when shaking around rock so I don’t push nail weight all the way in. I’d used both regular nail weight and ball head nail weight. Now all I use is this. DIY screw in weight.

Shimano Curado 70 MGL vs. Daiwa Tatula SV 103
I don’t have Steez CT. Tatula Sv should be about the same size as SS SV (I assumed). The reason I bought both reel base on size and line capacity alone (replaced my bantam MGL/scorpion 1000XT).

Shimano Vanford drag upgrade, 1000 size
I don’t see the need to upgrade drag on my Vanford 2000s. I can pull up 4lb bass easily with stock drag or even 5-6lb catfish. I set drag on my spinning pretty loose compare to baitcaster, all I need is just a touch from my index finger to slow the drag down when needed. If I’m gonna upgrade the drag I would use smooth drag only. I see available stradic 1000/2000 3 pieces which should fit newer shimano 1000/2000 across the board. Call them directly for info. http://www.smoothdrag.com/price.html

Shimano Curado 70 MGL vs. Daiwa Tatula SV 103
- Daiwa Plug
And I’m still using crappy Ping G30. No need to say your ex-wife was miserable once you married new wife. IMHO- Cast control knob tightening while casting
I don’t have this problem with all my old Daiwa reels, 2 pixy. Alphas purple and TD Sol. I can see the problem can happen if you don’t set drag star tight enough, it become too easy to spin backward. If you have this problem a lot, the easy fix would be convert to clicking drag star, at least it would have enough tension to hold drag star in place.- Tatula LT 2500 can’t cast
Some say I overfilled, but I never have problem with all my Daiwa. I cannot say for mono because I only use 10lb braid or Nanofil.- Cast control knob tightening while casting
I meant to say O-ring lol.- Cast control knob tightening while casting
What I have heard most is loosened up not tighten. Does the cast control cap easy to turn both way? May be new washer would do the trick.- Used Very Good Condition Shimano Metanium 13 or New Curado MGL 70?
I’m not sure if the 13 or 16 Met that have USDM with 150 size spool instead of JDM 70 size spool. Line capacity might be another factor if you plan to use larger than 12lb copolymer, 15 FC. The Met is huge compared to curado 70.- Used Very Good Condition Shimano Metanium 13 or New Curado MGL 70?
To me, 13 Met USDM would be good for moving bait. Chronarch would be good for all around, 12-15lb FC line or 30-40lb braid. Curado MGL bottom contact wit 8-10lb copolymer or pitch and flip with 30-40lb braid. How do you plan to use the reel that how I would make decisions. I like small most comfortable to palm for bottom contact.- Tatula LT 2500 can’t cast
That is weird, you can cast with Abu but not tatula, same set up, lure weight? Casting spinning should be the same, there is no spool rotation, nor thumb control come to play. I agree with @mrpao too much line? Too much whip? When casting heavier lure on spinning I like to have at least 2’ from lure to rod tip.- What is this tool I found in my grandpa's old tackle box?
It is fish gripper that popular in Asian, mostly for those type of mackerel fish. Ideally for those you can’t lip and might have sharp splines. I don’t like it for catch and released.- Buying Reels and Tackle Overseas...???
Lol, I ordered a reel from here or Japan and sent or delivered to my friend in Thailand. The reels in Thailand aren’t cheap like you thought even it made there. I did buy some reels from Thailand though, Chronarch 50e and Curado 71. I think Singapore might be better price and more selection. Anyway I’m Thai if you don’t know yet, LMK if you need help planning a trip there. Giant Snake head and barramundi are top target, then MaeKhong Catfish is when you wanna reel in 100lb catfish. Checkout these two major Thailand tackle sites. http://www.parknum.com/index.php?lay=show&ac=article&Id=293788&Ntype=1 https://www.7seasproshopthai.com/categories/reels.html For example I just bought 2 reels from Japan Daiwa Alphas SV TW and Zillion SV TW. 220 and 320 from Japan, 250 and 350 if you buy in Thailand.- Concern about soft plastics not sinking fast enough
Count me on D-Shad, my favorite even over Zoom. In fact I fish all brand of fluke even the floating one from Zman and all kind of size from Magnum to tiny fluke. I caught this one a few days back, thanks to OP mentioned the Fluke and I haven’t fish one for awhile. The fish crushed it while it falling after the first jerk. - Daiwa Plug
