  1. It is a personal choice, standard bass gear trend to start at 2500. I choose 2000 over 2500. I like smaller and lighter reel, it a lot easy on my wrist and my shoulder for finesse type fishing. The 2000 has less drag but I found it adequate for regular bass fishing. Casting distance might not be as good as 2500 but again, I don’t need to cast far for this technique, mostly it target fishing. Line management, I use braid so smaller size spool is not an issue. IPT, I don’t need 34 IPT for bass fishing, that even more than regular 7.2 gear on most baitcaster, to me speed up is a lot easier than slow down. The only thing I like on 2500 size is longer handle. Again personal choice. I use spinning only Finesse down to UL so 2000 fit me better. If I’m going Finesse up to light power fishing like Jig, Senko, weight Texas rig, I might go for 2500 or even 3000, but that my baitcasters are there for.
  2. I’m too really appreciate all you comments. Did it help me catch more fish ? Not really but it sure heck make me a better fisherman. Some of your comments might sound harsh but that because of the level of sincerely toward us. Just like old wise guy said (not you) Give a guy a Senko and he might catch one fish, listen to you and he can fish for a lifetime. LoL?????
  3. I was gonna say goldfish too. Our lake have one that really yellow and huge. It has been caught but I guess he released it back. I saw it once.
  4. Let me check with my wife. . . . . . . . . . Nope. No plan.
  5. I guess it is gone then, 4-5 days ago, still a few left. Only Tatula available now
  6. Don’t know never fish with Tat SV, but if you really want to go with Finesse route. You should try one of the Alphas SV 105. The Alphas SV 105 is long discontinued so you might have to get use 140-170, or act now Plat Japan have alphas CT SV on sale, about 200 OTD.
  7. If I were you, it is time for UL set up. Those panfish are fun to catch as well especially when bass bite is slow.
  8. If you can cast weightless trick worm with your current setup into wind, I don’t think you would need to do anything else. I’m not sure how soft on the tip of that rod (is your Fast or Moderate action?). BTW the st Croix Moderate rod got super soft and flex tip section, very good for light weight lure. If you plan to fish a lot of weightless worm, I recommend M or ML fast rod, that has lure rates down to 1/8oz. . Changing bearing? a lot will say it help, which it should, but I just don’t give them many thought. I believe using lighter line would help better. I have at Croix avid x Medium/Moderate, that rod can cast way below lure rates, but I don’t like using moderate action rod with Texas rig style worm (fast action is better to dive the hook into roof of bass mouth.
  9. I have been following this reel for awhile and almost pull the trigger so many times. I’m waiting for those that don’t mind spending just to get a new thing to compare side by side with SLX DC. Still wondering why that reel test guy hasn’t got one yet since he was the very first one showing that clip and he is crazy about nothing but distance. From my understanding it is the same frame as regular SLX DC, spool are the same diameter but shimano modified the spool to have shallower and narrower slot for line lay, make it 70 vs 150. The line with travel left to right shorter make it less resistance travel to line guide. The guy from Japan using this reel casted lipless crank (I believe) 90 meters. I’m not sure if there are any other different. The SLX DC 150 weight 7.6oz while 2020 SLX 70 DC weight 7.5oz, wondering spool weight might not be different much either.
  10. Man those Daiwa guys might be on vacation? Let me share some info, but please don’t quote me, I have limited experience with Daiwa as well. I never fish the new Tatula but have SS SV 103. First of all, they both not true finesse reel oriented, to expect those reel to play well with light weight lure gonna be tough. If I have to choose one, SS SV might get my vote, both should be able to handle 1/8 weight Texas rig but gonna be tougher on 1/16oz. Some say “reel just hold the line, ROD to cast lure” This is true (might not be 100%) meaning ppl give too much attention to reel than rod, in many cases rod is as important if not more than reel to be able to cast especially light lure effectively. You don’t mention about the rod, so it gonna be hard to tell if you are capable of casting such weight. Let talk about your SS SV, you said you swap inductor with zillion one, did you swap just inductor or spring as well? I don’t own Zillion SV but I think SS SV spool also G1 spool???? How the cast after swapped? You might not see much different, if you swapped both inductor and spring. If only inductor you might not get all distance but you get more control. I swapped mine with only Ray’s inductor and I’m happy with it for combination of distance and control, I fish a lot at night where control is needed. Since you gonna have both reels anyway give it a try yourself, you might be surprises of what you and the reels are capable off.
  11. Meaning you really have to improve your knot tie. Or may be the knot goes through guide too many times, and loose it’s strength. Why 10’? I have 8lb leader to 8lb nanofil only 2-3’ top. I sometimes loose the whole length but oftentimes only part of the leader or at the lure tie knot (contact point with whatever underwater).
  12. Tom, do I have to pick from your list or you save some for me already?
  13. What is lb on your leader and mainline? How long is your leader? You loose the whole length or just a part of it? I’ll be glad to just loose the leader than main line and that is one of the reason a lot of ppl using leader just to save main line. The leader would be the one that stay contact with rocks and timber most of the time, and over time it would become the weakest point. No matter which knot you are using, you will loose some strength of the line. If it isn’t break off at your leader, you might end up loosing 10-15 yds of main line or might end up cutting the line off at spool (using high strength braid) If you plan to bend the hook out to save the lure don’t use leader but plan to re-spool more often.
  14. I’m always here and always post. I haven’t had problem with windknot on my Sahara 750 for over a year and I’ve been using it pretty hard.
  15. I’m not sure how did you do it or that line might be pretty, very, super bad to be able to pull and broke off that easily. I can’t even do it with my 8-10lb braid. I’m still convinced that braid slip and not broken off or poor knot tied. Do you see a piece of braid knot on the leader side? Is it clear cut or frayed off on the braid where it broke off? You can try again, this time with some marking pen at the end of both lines after trimming. Take picture of both end of you can and post here, please. Another way to test your braid, cut a 24” section,20 wraps each end on wood dowel or screw driver handle, now you can pull and see if you can brake the line without knot.
  16. If you are planing for FL 2500 and 3000 size, weight save on Tatula LT is nice especially for finesse fishing. The ATD drag on Daiwa help a ton when fighting fish with light line. The Tatula LT is one smooth reel and hold up just fine for me. For 1000/2000 size, I might consider FL for the benefit of MGL rotor and Long Stroke Spool. Those are step up over Tatula. As @ImThatGuymentioned Vanford is also a nice upgrade. It is basically FL on steroids.
  17. Blood knot is not good for braid to mono leader. It has a lot more potential to slip unless you do 10-15 wraps. Try other knot, easiest one of the bunch is double uni knot. Another thing is your leader 14lb mono is a little too big to clinch tight on tiny braid. Might as well try Crazy Alberto knot.
  18. I think I’m in too for hand pour worm and other if you think it would work here.
  19. So which line that broke off, braid or leader? Which connection knot you were using?
  20. Do you plan to buy a new setup? Why don’t you just try with whatever you have to see it it work as you hope or what you don’t like and we can go from there. You already have rod and reel all you need just a bag of senko and a bag of 4/0 Gamakatsu Ewg hook.
  21. Thanks, but not really interested in 2500 size, my bass are too small for that size reel lol.
  22. I guess it is too late now for you lol. Come on now, you know you want them lol. What size? I really want to know spool diameter of size 500 and 1000. Shimano japan listed 43mm on 2000S but none available on 500 and 1000. Mostly Shimano Japan will sell 500/1000 under different model like Cardiff, but no info yet.
  23. You actually should get two or three, one in 500 of course and 1000 and 2000. Please I’m dying to hear a real input on these size.
  24. If you want to spend that much, you might wanna try Daiwa Tatula LT. It is head to head better than my old ci4.
  25. Depends on the price, Pro is light weight and a work horse but new material “ci4+“ FA and FB is better plus MGL rotor on FB is way smoother than older model. Spool on my CI4 2500 F also wobble a little bit since this model don’t have spool bearing support, I guess. I saw the FA and FB price at around 150-180 for a good used one.
