New reel drag issues
It seems like you are so proud of that line spooling station. I saw you posted this video a couple time. I wouldn’t say it is a gimmick, but that guy might also be sponsored by the company. There are two most recommended way of spooling spinning reel. From tackle shop which line goes in straight but cast out twisted, or behind running boat which line goes in twisted but cast out straight. No matter what both way will not stop line twisted overtime. you will have to manage or clear twisted every once awhile. A spinning reel with good line roller bearing would help line twisted more than that tool, my .02. I spool line just like baitcaster no tool need but line come out from under spool instead of all top. This way I can apply pressure across the whole length of spooling (I’m not sure how you keep pressure on that tool)

Zoom fluke questions
Same here love fishing Fluke. A few years back I caught pretty good quantity and quality. I fish from Magnum Fluke all the way to tiny fluke including other brand like D-shad and caffeine shad. Hardly use it for the past two years. Been busy with crappie and new techniques.

Alternate Uni to Uni
No never tried that. I only use double uni knot to connect braid to leader and it hold up just fine. I will modify it a little bit next time by using Double, double uni knot where double braid mainline before making a knot. This might help thin braid cutting into leader when clinch.

New reel drag issues
I guess I know what he meant by “Fraying”. it just the sound of line being pull out in tight drag where it crushed each other. You can just upload to YouTube and link to that video here

Finesse top water baits
I couldn’t be happier if snakehead are around lol. My schedule changes I have only Thurs-Fri night off, of course Friday is for my wife so I fish my ... off Thursday. As you can see on my IG, I caught bass almost every night. Yes Canyon Lake is named to be a best place to catch bass but timing and location is important too. I went back to the spot just now and caught another 10 crappie, a good hour get away.

Finesse top water baits
No, I got these 2 years ago. You know I’m Thai, snake head land. If you want the Crappie experience, make yourself available Thursday Night. Last night my friend and I caught about 40 or so crappie under fishing light. He kept 10 or so of 10-12”

New reel drag issues
Why don’t you post some pictures of line being frayed from just pull out from reel. I have seen you post a few time about this issue. Sometime described is not as accurate.

Applications where slightly SMALLER handle size would be nice?
Doesn’t matter much to me, whatever stock I’ll use that, but only left hand reels that I have to have 90mm or up to get a smooth reeling. I don’t see a lot switch to smaller/shorter handle, the only reason I can think off is to shade more weight of the reel. There were once I wanted to switch to shorter handle on my SteeZ EX (100mm handle), because it got in the way when cast a few times.

Superline question
The last 20 bass or so 1-4lb caught was on this 8lb nanofil and none have knot slip issue with 7-8wraps double uni knot. Just last night I tried to lift 2lb bass and leader broke at the hook (8lb izorline to 8lb Nanofil), maybe because I haven’t re-tie from the last few Bass. The wind knot issue can be prevent by stop the line before lure hit water. You know what, PM me if you want to sell Nanofil, I’m in need of 4 and 6lb.

Zoom fluke questions
Another way to rig 4” regular fluke weightless is Donkey Rig (Double rig) if you worry about weight and want to cast further. I even crazy enough to double rig weightless 3” tiny fluke lol.

Zoom fluke questions
Yeah it is confusing. Isn’t it. I forget regular fluke is the kneel type, then Jr. Super Fluke, then Super Fluke. The fluke I mostly use it for dropshot and again weightless just like any fluke. I’ve never tried with bullet weight, because there are plenty of others type that get better results. It it works for you then keep using it. I even seen some with ball jig head type and still catch bass.

The Dark Side is Calling
I have had a lot of fun lately on Fairy wand which I haven’t touched for years. Started off from left frozen shoulder forced me to hold the rod on my right, with only 2 spinning, now I have 4 more, talking about bait monkey. I can’t help you with high end rod, ever since I broke my Shimano Crucial DX68M, I had been thru a few rods with dissatisfy until I found Daiwa Tatula original 701MF. I’m whole again. Two night ago, 4lb bass, Neko rig Zman FinesseZ, Daiwa Ballistic FW 2500S-C and Daiwa OG Tatula 701MF, this setup weight close to nothing 5.8oz reel and maybe 3.5oz rod.

Zoom fluke questions
Any plastic can be use in Texas Rig weighted, would it be better than worm? maybe not. I even use super fluke and swimming fluke on dropshot. Agreed to all above, fluke type is better weightless, slow shimmering sink and dart left and right with twists in shallow water. One of my favorite way to fish fluke on bottom is to let it sink all the way down, twist rod tip from 3:00 to 1:00 and let it sink down on slack line, rinse and replete. This could get the fluke up about 2’ of bottom and take awhile to sink plenty of time for bass to see and strike. If you can’t cast far enough, maybe you use too big of a line or too stiff rod, there is no shame to use spinning tackle with fluke either. Regular Fluke with 4lb bass. one of my video fishing slow and fast for fluke depends of depth. This is D-Shad but I fish regular fluke the same way

Senko hook question
Maybe try flipping hook type? I never tried on Senko but use a lot with trick worm in weed area.

Drop Shot
Seem like you don’t like or want to believe in this technique, end of discussion and let’s move on. From the look, even IF you wanna try, but if you don’t have confidence or at least believe that it would work, then it ain’t gonna work. To learn new techniques, even though, it doesn’t require any skill but patience and willingness is a must. You might get skunked a first few tries but after you get a hang of it the outcome might be great. Some tried this technique and don’t like it, some use it all the time because this help them at least catch some fish on a bad day, but you, you just dont seem to like it at first hand. A few years back at least 60-70% of my catches were from dropshot (shallow muddy, a lot of vegetation in small pond) Nowadays I only use it a few times, only when target woof pack in shallow weedy type, for numbers. My dropshot technique is not even close to what others describe, I shake the hell out of it and fish it super fast. Most of the time my tag end is short 8-12” I don’t use light line, the #8 copolymer is my usual setup on any medium baitcaster. I adapted the technique to what my liking and catch fish. Maybe it is a western thing, after all.

BFS Rod Suggestions
So what do you plan to use snaky for? I like snapbean better in small pond, snaky to me seems to work better in stream (running water)

Drop Shot
that why you don’t use dropshot, because you just want 1-2 lb bass. BTW I also use baitcaster as my main dropshot setup even I have perfect spinning setup built for dropshot specific. Dropshot requires nothing special only one knot to hook if use mono/FC, 2 knot if use leader just like everything else. Yes sometime ppl knock off something they don’t understand, but if you wanna catch more fish, you’d better learn dropshotting.

Please tell me how big my bass is
Congrat on your PB. It can be as heavy as you want since nobody can say for sure. You didn’t long hand at all and also pull back to same level as your face. That could be a solid 4-5 lb or more for sure. What do you think this one weight.

Superline question
I’m also use Nanofil hard this year for both bass 8-12lb and panfish 4-6lb. I actually like it a lot for it super light weight. I caught quite a bit number of 3-4lb bass with the line using simple double uni knot (7wraps on nanofil, 5wraps #8 izorline). Yes line fray pretty easily and leader is a must. I like this line for Nekorig and Ned rig where I have rod tip high and shaking all the time. I switch to braid and I can feel weight of braid make the shaking not as smooth.

1" Light-wire EWG hooks
Gamatkatsu #2 EWG and #1 Roboworm rebarb hook should fit 4.5” finesse worm. I use these with 4.5 Roboworm, dropshot or Texas rig 1/8oz weight. I think it is not 1” but about 1.5”.
