Shimano slx combo vs Fuego Ct/ Dobyn fury
You have both coming, you will soon find out what is best suit for you. If you like the look of your CT combo, then don’t worry about xtra price you are paying for it. Both reels are and best used in similar class, all around reel for medium to heavy lure. One is magnetic braking system while other centrifugal set it and forget it type. You will get tons of opinion which are not as important as your own. I’ll go with SLX all day long, lighter and smaller more comfortable for me to palm. I use SLX for everything, bottom contact, topwater, chatterbait spinnerbait and 3/8 Jig.

Scent additives.... Waste of money or worth it??
Someday it works, most days don’t. I do believe more of location and action of the bait than scent. Do I use it? Sometimes especially when I smoked or used sun screen. These day I don’t bother much (quick smoking for good, I hope)

Bad Estimates of Bass Weight
I used to fish with a guy from work a few times here in Canyon Lake. He also knows someone and fish at camp ground a lot. He always talks about 5-6-7 or even 10lb bass he caught here or what lures should I use to catch those. I stopped fishing with him, may be, because I feel bad or envy that I don’t catch bass that big or as often. The kick is, he didn’t even know how to flip 1.5-2 lb bass over the rail. I don’t know I’d rather catch my dinks than do a big talk.

Need new paddle.
Thanks everyone, I did considered all you guys mentioned here, especially Aqua bound Stingray fiberglass 90 bucks and bending branches angler classic 120 bucks even Werner Skagit. Yes I still have Pescador pro 100 but as I said I haven’t use it a lot only once or twice a this year. I considered a lot of pros and cons, wasn’t gonna get Carlisle Magis Plus due to its weight at 40oz compare to others 30-34oz but with price tag at 60 and too lazy to shop on Black Friday. I ended up order Carlisle 230cm today. If I use it a lot next season I might consider upgrade along the line.

Need new paddle.
Thanks all, I’m not really looking for long range paddle and definitely no current but quite windy in 5-10 mph. I’m not looking for fancy ones either but at least some blade quality that not gonna wrapped, why my budget only around 100. My old one is just a local brand aluminum shaft 230cm which I had no problem with (only hit the size of kayak every once awhile) I have a few paddle in mind though. 1. Pelican Angler Symbiosa 90 bucks, adjustable length 230-240cm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0845GMYBP/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1&th=1 2.Carlisle Magic Plus https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B084KP86LR/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=AU8KF031TC39C&psc=1

Need new paddle.
Looking to buy new kayak paddle to replace the lost one. I don’t use kayak very often so I’ll go with a budget type around 100 dollars. Any recommendations? I’m 5’7 and my kayak is 32” width, I should look for 240cm paddle. correct?

What’s your fishing style
I can go from 3oz swimbait to 2 grams lure in a pinch. I do have more gears for ultra light and finesse than power fishing. I sold my big swimbait gears early the year and might sell the remaining soon.

Will I find a Stradic on sale for black friday?
Or you can find a good used one from flea market.

Gram to Ounce Conversion
This is what I use the most 1 gram 1/32, 2 grams 1/16 4 grams 1/8 8 grams 1/4

Carbon fiber handle
For budget but good handle, look for basszone or Ray’s Studio. Anything else between 15-30 bucks mostly came from same manufacturer.

spinning rod set
I’m suck at casting anything heavier than Senko with spinning reel. I’m also get tired faster when using heavier spinning setup. My choice would be 7’M/F for all around 1/8oz texas rig, Senko, neko rig and 7’ML/XF for dropshot nedrig weightless worm. I’m not sure how much benefit would you get from long spinning rod 7’6 ML. Typically, long spinning rod got long handle, you might only gain about 3” of blank but 3” on handle might make it more inconvenient to move around with finesse tactics. Anything require MH rod, I would op for baitcaster. If you search around you will see 80-90% of fishermen often use baitcaster for heavy, power fishing like frog 3/8 and up jig, Harvey topwater lures, crankbait, lipless and such. I don’t say spinning is not good (a lot of ppl still using it for everything) but baitcaster might be better suit for those. Don’t quote me but you can do the search yourself.

What hook?
Owner weighted beast swimbait hook. I’m not sure how long that lure but probably 6”, so 6/0 might fit. Take the lure to Tuners, they carry owner beast in stock. You have to consider about gap from body of plastic to shrank of hook too, for better good hook set.

Shimano Chronarch MGL question
You can but with handle adapter. https://www.ebay.com/itm/8x-Strong-Fishing-Reel-Handle-Spacer-Rocker-Hole-Loop-Adapter-5x8mm-to-4x7mm/324131556257?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20190917065201%26meid%3D5781db3eeeb843518da11955d0c3493c%26pid%3D100935%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dco%26sd%3D154017793492%26itm%3D324131556257%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2332490%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithDarwoV3BBEV2b%26brand%3DUnbranded%2FGeneric&_trksid=p2332490.c100935.m2460

Daiwa Ballistic vs Tatula
Shallower spool, you might have to go JDM route, or buy spare shallow spool SLP WORKS which would cost you about 80 bucks including shipping. I don’t really care much for shallow spool, I backing with 4lb mono, then wrap with plumber tape, just one time hassle.
-
Reversing Braid Question
Not always true. I got Tatula LT spool direct from Daiwa for 26 bucks. I can buy SLP WORKS spool that will fit my ballistic about 50 bucks or buy maybe fake? SLP spool for exceler at a whopping 19 bucks. Shimano, on the other hand will cost me about 40-50 bucks for CI4. The Nasci 2500 spool is 30 bucks from shimano.

Shimano Star Drag Nut
I tightened it all the way down, but not forced with star drag. After that install handle, tightened the handle nut by hand until right. Use wrench just a bit of turn and align the nut cap screw hole. After installed I check by loosen the drag all the way and line should be able to pull out with not a lot of resistance, with no play or loose on handle.

Daiwa Zillion SV spool
Alphas SV 105, might get a little bit better distance compare to SV 103 (inductor modified). Pixy all variants (except SPR) would do a better job, but if you want new, maybe Alphas CT SV. Try smaller line diameter 6-8lb mono or 8-10lb braid. BTW nothing wrong with plastic worm gear.

Reversing Braid Question
Or you can buy a spare spool, and save that spool just for this task. It would help if you plan to do it a lot during the year or if you have same size and similar models reel. Another reason I only use 70yds for all my spinning reel. I just tape one side to other object and walk off, most of the time on grass. Walk back with reel on the rod and start spooling from the other end. Make sure to apply some pressure to reduce line twisted.

new from California!!
Welcome to BR from SoCal. I love Sonoma country, where is my wife and I anniversary destination for many years. I’ve learned a lot from BR and so will you. You will start catching bass all year round after joining this forum.

Shimano curado K 70 mgl
Thanks, even though I set myself up to buy one when the 70MGL available, sold one of regular 70 to make some room, but I still haven’t yet pulled the trigger. Don’t know why.

Drag stack problem
So the drag being pull out not smooth? Or slip like no drag at all? But no matter what, if you refuse to open up your reel, the only way to send it in. I’m not gonna fish with bad drag, you might loose a fish of your life time.

Noisy Aldebaran MGL 31 HG
Have you tried to take the spool out and re-seated? While you at it, just a drop of bantam oil on both spool. When spool tension loose, spool should have some play, check if you have any spool play when loosen tension.

Noisy Aldebaran MGL 31 HG
Nope shimano won’t do nothing with JDM reels.

Modern tackle
Because you haven’t tried, doesn’t mean no improvement. I would be sick and quit fishing long ago, if I had to use same thing over and over, day in and day out to catch fish. Fishing is fun, catching fish with different gears and techniques is much more fun.
