its profound how buying a kayak really opened up fishing for me.
There is something about being at water level when you pull that bass up

Troubleshooting a non-functional speedometer
Mine hasn't worked for about 5 years. The other day my wife and I were going across the lake and she said it seemed like the boat was bouncing a lot for 10 mph. I looked at her kind of strange and said what are you talking about? She said the speedometer said 10 mph. I told her that hasn't worked for a couple years now. She said I thought this whole time you were just driving at 10 mph. I got a great laugh out of it and probably won't let her forget it anytime soon.

What is your most "productive" topwater
Poppers have been good to me

Feather on topwater?
I agree with snagged again, pop r is the only one I throw with a feather.

To the best of your memory, what was the lure you caught your first bass on?
It's been a few years but I would guess a Lazy Ike. I think that what they were called it was orange with black dotes.

Does the time of day matter for a whopper plopper?
Early morning and just before sunset seem to be the most productive for me if the fish are not busting the surface. If they are busting the surface chasing shad then anytime but early and late in day work best for me. The perch color has worked very well for along with the black one with some yellow on it (I don't remember the name of it).

So I bought a boat.

Is the misery of kayak fishing worth it?
Love fishing from my boat but love the kayak as well. There is something about being right on the water when you pull that fish up. Also, I can get my kayak into some very tight places and shallow that a boat can't touch. Each has there place and I wouldn't ever get rid of kayak.

Favorite lure type
Crankbaits, senkos, chatterbaits I can't pick just one.

Chatterbait Help
I will throw one anywhere, especially around docks and trees that are in the water. I really don't think you can fish one wrong. Try different retrieves and different trailers like mentioned above.

Left alone or harassed
I would agree with what some of you have said, it seems it is usually another fisherman who starts to crowd.

Sometimes you just gotta go....

What exactly happened to spider wire?
I use it and don't have any problems with it. Just about all my rods with mono on them have spider wire.

Oh the woes of a bass fisherman and his finances
This past weekend my wife was with me in the boat (she doesn't fish just went since it was a nice day). So I'm going along fishing and got hung up on something, messed with it while trying to get it free but didn't happen. Ended up breaking off and went to grab another one of that same color crank bait and didn't have one. She was giving me crap about all my fishing stuff and not having another, she said I though you bought those things in packs of 5. (just giving me a hard time). So when I got home I ordered 4 of that color and 3 of a different color. They came in yesterday, she looked at me and shook her head.

If you can't drive your boat onto your trailer
These things could sell like hotcakes at a dealership. People will buy anything especially when they don't know what they are doing.

fishing in the rain
crank baits and chatter baits seem to work well in the rain (or any other time)

Breaking the rut of using the same few lures
I have my go to lures all the time, but when they are not getting it done that is when I will try different options.

Underrated: Bass Pro Stik-O-Worm
BPS worms work, caught plenty off them. Usually when ordering from BPS, if I need to get $50 for free shipping I will buy one of their worms in a color I wouldn't normally throw. It has paid off a few times with the "off" colored worms.
