  1. What knot yall using for your leader? I haven't fished with a leader before and am a little scared about using it.
  2. I was just wondering because everywhere that I read these guys are using fluoro. I want to keep using my braid, was just wondering though, I love the feel and no stretch of the braid, thanks for the responses everyone.
  3. Hey guys, What line and size are yall pitchin and flippin jigs with? Just wondering what folks are using, I am using braid, but thinking of fluorocarbon, just wanted some other opinions. Thanks
  4. Pay the 10.95, I got the bag and it is very nice. I was thinking it woud be some crappy little bag, but it is so nice, I have used it when fishing in other peoples boats and I can fit 3 Plano 3700 series boxes, my rain suit and my SOSpenders. I have bought another Revo and my dad wants the other bag so I am going to fill out the rebate with his address. By the way let us know how you like that rod.
  5. I bet that is the same line that a couple of the Berkley Pros (Gary Klein and others) were using in the Classic. I say this because in the Bassmasters magazine that had the Top 5 Classic Patterns, they said that he was using a berkley Prototype Fluorocarbon. I am thinking about ordering a spool of 20 lb for jigs.
  6. I can't wait, I love Abu's!!
  7. Hey guys, What are some of yall's favorite brands and weights? Just looking for some others responses to try out. Thanks
  8. This is the reason why I wish it was painful for people to be stupid. Their stupidity hurts us, it would be nice if they felt it themselves. Hopefully he will learn before someone waits for him at the landing and throws him a serious beatin. You did the right thing in leaving, nowadays you don't know who is crazy enough to shoot you, you just got to assume everyone is.
  9. No I didn't get to talk to him at the Classic, there were a ton of people there. I wanted to talk with him at the tournament, but everyone was around the pros asking for autographs and advice, so I tried not to bother them too much. From what I have heard from others everyone was impressed with the help of the pros. By the way thanks for the help with the pic, I am horrible at this computer image stuff.
  10. He was very down to earth. Other than the fact that he was outfishing the mess out of me and the fact that nearly every boat that passed came by to talk, you kinda forgot that you were fishing with a Classic champ. There were a twelve pros in all and all were available to talk to and meet, there was Gerald Swindle, Skeet Reese, Aaron Martens, Randy Howell, Mark Menendez, Ken Cook, Jason Quinn and many others.
  11. Hey guys I recently fished a large tourny here in Alabama and got the awesome opportunity to fish with Boyd Duckett. I won a drawing held by the tourny's sponsor, Mark's Outdoors. There were twelve pros there and all of them were extremely nice. I cannot say enough great things about Boyd Duckett, he was just a great guy and I haad a great time fishing with him. I got ffrustrated for a second or two while I was being outfished, but then remembered that he is a PROFESSIONAL and the Classic Champ, so I didn't stay frustrated long. He answered any and all questions that I asked and I saw him sign every autograph that was asked of him and he spoke to every person who stopped him. It was really nice seeing that these guys are just good guys who also like to fish. I am trying to attach a pic from the weigh in. We came in 16th out of 500 boats... Not too bad Here is a pic. I tried to just attach, but can't due to size if anyone has any advice, help and I will just attach. Here is one of the pics
  12. I have to also jump on the Kistler band wagon. LOVE IT, I also have the All Day Pitchin and FLippin stick by them and love it, thinking about getting a Mag TS Magnum worm one as well.
  13. pseshooter300, Figure out a budget and then find the boat you want that fits into that budget. I know alot of guys are saying don't finance and tht is great if it works for you. It did not work for me though, we are about to start a family I figured out a budget for how much I get paid per month, minus all bills then broke that out into a per week average and when it boiled down I could afford a new boat if I financed for more years. You work hard for your money get what you want within reason. I even showed my wife the budget and she agreed. I went back and forth for a long time about what brand, new v used, and everything. I ended up with a TR 186 Triton and I love it, hell even my wife loves it. So my advice would be figure a monthly payment that you are comfortable with and go for it, however know that you will pay more in the long run if you pay the minimum payments. Sorry for the length. PS. They will finance for 15 yrs on 25k and up.
  14. Just got mine the other day, well worth 10.95 shipping and handling. That bag is sturdy and big, not at all what I was expecting. I am sending of another rebate for my second Revo so my Dad can get a bag and qit eyeballin mine. To put size into perspective, I fished a tourny out of someone elses boat and had my rainsuit, inflatable life vest, three 3700 series boxes and a couple of filler spools of line in it and it all fit. Great bag. By the way you can buy the reel from anyone then go to either Abu's website or BPS and download a copy of the form.
  15. I have four Abu's and am about to buy my fifth. I have one 5600 that was my fathers and I have no clue how old that thing is, but still fishes great! I also have a couple of newer 5600's and a Revo SX and am about to get another Revo SX. I love Abu's they last forever. The only other line of reel that I can speak this highly of (due to exposure to it, not playing favorites) is Shimano they also make great reels. I Have not had any experience with Daiwa but have heard good things. But I can't lie I am an Abu man and they have not let me down yet . Feel good that you bought an Abu and you can fish it a long time! :exclamation
  16. Thanks guys, I went and looked at the Powell's today (like the feel), I just didn't like that it was not telescopic (can't fit in the rod locker). I am going to look at the Kistler's tomorrow (i hope) and The Bud Pruitt's series if I can find them. I wish that I had a BPS near, they keep talkin about building one near Birmingham, just not done it yet, I want to see those XPS rods. Please keep the info coming, got a bday coming up and need to let my wife know what I want (I jsut got to figure out a way of doing it without her seeing the price??)
  17. Is it the "All Day Flippin' Pitchn' Stick 7' 8" Heavy Telescopic Fishing Rod" from their website? http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-mt-specialty-fishing-rods/MgADFPSH78T.html I looked at it and it looks real nice. I borrowed one of my Dad's 6'10" for my first flippin' and stuck a 5+ largemouth. I am hooked now. I just want to get a good rod. Also what about Gloomis flipping sticks? Thanks
  18. The kistler is only about 50 bucks more than the Team Allstar, is it that nice of a rod? I have honestly never spent more than 80 bucks on a rod and am a little worried about getting my money's worth. If anyone has any input, it sure would be appreciated. Thanks again
  19. Hey guys, I don't own one but am looking into a pitching/flipping rod. I am going to put a Revo SX on it and was wondering what yall think about the BPS XPS flipping rods or the Team Allstar. I know that the BPS XPS is on sale with the reel, but is it yworth the extra money for the other? Any input will be appreciated.
  20. Congratulations on the boat!!
  21. We have been pouring our own- they are 1/4 ounce with a 4-0 hook, using 4inch finesse worm from Zoom. No matter what jig head style you use, whether it be football, wedge, or ball, try to get the longest shanked hook you can. The longer shank helps with hookset on cold weather soft striking bass. Since going with the longer shanked hook, it has improved our hook ups greatly. I loved the Chompers with the standup head, but hook was too short, plus the great thing about pouring your own is that each jig head becomes cheap enough that you don't mind loosing a couple. By the way those jig heads with the screw in them are great just a little more expensive.
  22. Thanks for all of the info guys, I didn't mean to start an argument though. I just appreciate the fact that people are putting in all of their opinions and experiences, please keep it up.
  23. I appreciate the info, the Stratos line is a very nice line, I worked for a Stratos dealer in high school back when the Stratos was owned by OMC and Earl Bentz was still in charge of them. They are very good boats and I think you will be pleased with it. Plus know that Bombardier owns Evinrude, those motors will be sick. I am trying to stick to a certain price range and get the right boat for me, believe me I would LOVE to hop intoa new Skeeter, but with the wife and I trying to start a family I still have to be a little realistic ( I am still trying to convince myself that it would be ok to buy a boat) Thanks everyone for yalls input and if anyone has anymore please fill in any info is good info
  24. I think that I will go with the Nitro, just need to look at the books one more time to make sure that it will all work out.
  25. I just love my big ol' 5600's. I have got one that might even be 15 years old, but been rebuilt a couple of times!! Even lookin into a couple of their sexy low profiles!
