  1. My personal experience is that noobs that are using mono with wacky rigs have a lot more gut hooks than those using braid or braid with leader. Sensitivity being the key factor. On a side note, 10lb 832 will sink faster than 10 lb mono. If you want braid to sink faster, lob the bait, the velocity helps break water tention
  2. The short answer is yes, but the difference may be negligible depending on application. Truth be told, most would not realize the difference. My go-to is seguar blue, but I do run straight FC line as leader....
  3. Really impressed with the dredgers and reach for them often. The published depth is accurate and it gets there fast. The added weight also lends for farther cast.

While I have a net, it seldom gets used and I know little about what to look for....... An elderly friend of mine is in the market so he is wants something that telescopes, and is good for 5-7 lb bass. Since he usually uses trebles he is thinking rubber. I have been looking I to frabil, but am hoping for some fist hand knowledge. Thanks in advance,Al
  5. Wire cutters and 1 try through the gills....no joy, let it swim. Eagles need to eat too
  6. Another surfaces from the bowels of the forum........I like the little ones to go airborne, but if it might be a personal best I lay down on the deck to keep everything as low as possible. I have been known to have my hands in the water. ?
  7. Most tires have a date of manufacture, so that helps with life expectancy
  8. Muck make an over the ankle waterproof shoe that is pretty good.
  9. 10 is perfect for that application!
  10. My jig hook up ratio is higher with these
  11. I believe your answer is above.......but I have seen a couple bad spools. I would try that reel on a different rod first to eliminate that as an issue
  12. Good enough for me, thanks
  13. Darren, can you post a link or point me in the right direction for the bobberstops. thanks
  14. Mods, please feel free to move....wasn't sure where to place this. Folks, My grandson is just starting to walk and he love coming on the family boat ( pontoon). Wearing the Billy PFD is a royal PITA, and I am willing to spring for an auto inflate model. Any input on the matter is appreciated.........Papa
  15. Admididally these techniques make up a small percentage of time in hand. My question is, what technique when? I find myself in situations lend themselves to both and naturally go for the dropshot by default. Any input is appreciated as I really what to get comfortable with all techniques Thanks,Al
  16. This happened yesterday, when 2 out of 3 of us were were having the best day of the year......when one brother yelled to his brother next to him "John, I hooked a big one, her reel it in, I'm a bit tired".......almost ticked my self. Fishing is fun, and if you don't realize this happens and have thin skin, perhaps they should get their own boat. I see my boat as a place where guys can be guys!
  17. Braid here too. If you have the proper rod and drag setting, braid should never be a problem.
  18. Some baits do well with weights and others don't need them A GY 4 inch would do as well as weightless, while other 5" might.
  19. On a side note, the caffeine chad will walk in its sleep!
  20. While it does bother me to get half way through a thread to see it was started when I weighed 20 lbs less, it is a rookie mistake.....I wish I was 20 lbs lighter too
  21. I live in Holderness and go out most morning, pm me your contact info
  22. 4/0 EWG light wire...... 4 fish for 15 lbs this AM This should not be fished weighted, but the bugger size can
  23. On the rigs I use leader it is typically 6 feet. I typically re-tie the leaders weekly. I suspect I will be all braid with the exception of shallow crankbaits soon!. On my lake a huge fish is a 5 lb'er and don't need the main/leader connection on the spool
  24. Mrs Bull landed 2, 4 ponders on her first time out..... Think that means I need to buy more gear ?
  25. Darren is spot on. All my spinning reels are spooler with braid, as is all my kids. Additionally it is cheaper given you can use it for years and 832 sinks pretty well. If you want to keep it real simple, learn the Uni knot for connecting leaders. The sensitivity is awesome and will be appreciated with plastics
