Smallmouth Question?
I see your in the north East. Anglers are going crazy trying to figure it out this yr. Very little spawning going in so far and a lot of suspended lethargic fish. Last week, a gentle caught 25 in an area of Squam and NOTHING since! Your not alone Today a few of us are all going to drop shotting.....who knows?

Leader weight for braid?
The beauty of leader is that you can adjust your bait presentation and I think those telling you to just use 12 or 15 big game isn't taking drop-shotting and other finesse presentations into account. I carry small spools of FC...6,8,10,12,15,20, with 10 being the most popular, To each his own, there is no right answer, just preferences On a side note, I use a lot of Blue label

Braid digging into itself
He'll, I must be lucky because I am using 10, 15, 20, and 30 and have never had any digging in, I set my drag on the slightly lighter, but that is it

Best casting braid for hollow bodied frogs
If you have tried all of them and not been happy with the results, it may be your setup...... You can get a pony spool (75) yards of Gamma for short money if you want to try one more

Gamma braid early thoughts
A few guys have PM'ed me about my testing of Gamma braid in the lighter weight and figured I would just share publicly. Last year I was PP for everything. This year I have been experimenting with 832 and smackdowwn. and just spent a few heavy days with Gamma. First, there is no wrong decision here. I was preferring the SD a little, but I think I will be adding Gamma for crankbaits and lighter jig setups. I put 10 lb on CB and 15 on light jigs and the size, knot tying and performance in windy conditions is stellar.....at least for me. This is thin stuff with good abrasion. Truth be told, I am in clear open water with little to no grass or muscles. I will be going bigger for swimming and top waters later next week. There is so little on the net, I figured I would share initial thoughts. Al

What # test mono?
I would look for the most user friendly mono, regardless of price. You want his experience to be great and time loss screwing with line is not fun

What # test mono?
Sorry, didn't see that in your OP, 6 lb mono or copolly is more than enough

Rigging spro rat
If you don't have a set up with 40 lb already, I would not do so for this bait. I have used 20 lb for yrs and have never had a problem, if it does break, it floats and there was probably a weakness in the braid.......also, the likelihood that you will be tossing this in a garden is slim.

What # test mono?
If I had that reel, I would look at 10 lb Braid,,........

Easiest lure for a 5 year old to cast out and retrieve?
Kids always remember putting their first worm on a hook, so I would do that before going with a surface jig. Kids love casting and seeing a strike is a lot of fun. .......and a weightless/weedless 4 inch Trig always works

Rigging spro rat
I have fished my all the ways you mentioned. Right now it is just tied directly to braid. If you use a clip you roll have to retrieve with your tip up. Walk and stop randomly works best for me

Same line for everything???
Gents, While having a beer with my buddy, he told me he uses mono for everything. Another friend went to FC and does the same, and I am mostly braid. I have been read a lot of older threads and find that many use FC for everything, other braid and some Mono. If you are in one of these camps, could you explain your reasoning? For me, I use braid with various leaders, with the exception of one cranking rod, that will be relived when my Gamma shows up. thanks, Al
