Damaged Prop
If you play this game, it’s only a matter of time before it happens. My lake eats props and low ends. This weekend 2 bass boats lost pros passing on the correct side of a bout, but didn’t have the local knowledge to know the body had moved and with low water bad things happen. i run aluminum at this time of the year, with an aluminum spare. Use the opportunity to buy a new one, and repair the dinged one ............I know, it is easy to spend other people’s money ?

New Seaguar Fluorocarbon
For the thrifty braid user who backs his reels and reverses ends at 2 seasons, a 150 yard spool can last 8 years

Hitena Braids
@Stephen B, Pureline for bottom contact and if I only could pick one, it would be it. Non bottom, the silky is heaven

Hitena Braids
Folks, i have been happy with 832,Gamma and Fins, but after seeing some fraying of 832 and a timely post from a friend, I started to look at Hitena. It is expensive! !!!!!!!! I have been using some Silky and Pureline over the past month and can tell you it is all they claim it to be.....at least so far. It is more like smackdown with an abrasion resistance. Since there are more strands, it lays perfectly on the spool and have yet to have any digging in, even with lighter test By far the smoothest and best casting braid I have used Anyone else have any experience with this

New Seaguar Fluorocarbon
I do like smackdown but have to admit that I have had more breakoffs than any other braid. When I run leaders, I usually use blue label, but there to many of us got bad batches ( we were made whole). These days, I tend to run straight braid or a premium mono ( Defier)

Fishing in the wind
When it gets to much for me, I head to the islands and look for the seam of calm water/rough water and cast perpendicular the wind. This gives me many technique options and allows me to to control the boat

What does structure feel like?
Totally agree and use your terminality when talking with other anglers......that said, when looking at my graphs, my brain interprets the language differently

What does structure feel like?
For my simple mind and relating to words that make sense to me, I see cover and structure differently. For me, cover is the rock pile or brush pile inside the structure and that is my focus. Cover is protection inside the general geography of the bottom. I see structure as drop-off, points,....changes is general bottom contours. For Me, this distinction is easy as it relates to a former lifetime. Once making the connection, I was able to eliminate a lot of water

Largemouth vs. Smallmouth
99% of the fish I catch are SM and if you cast a country mile and hook them on the fall, your in for a treat. A day of catching 3 pounders can exhaust you. This year we have caught a few more LM than normal, and while it is fun to get a larger fish, you can usually tell immediately that it isn't a SM.........it's a totally different fight. The only fish in my lake that fights harder is large pickerel........and they are becoming more abundant

Do you find that this sport is made difficult and expensive for no reason?
Way over the line.....

Why Couldn't I Land This Topwater Bass?
First thing I would do is change the stock hooks....I think I have 41’s but would have to check. I would consider a quality mono. If you can’t feel the fish under water, crank like hell cause it’s coming your way and slack is your enemy ......and a quick prayer never hurts ?

Why Couldn't I Land This Topwater Bass?
With the WP, the hit happens for fast that it is hard to distinguish between a slap and a bite and that is why you have to feel pressure before you set. It is hard because the adrenaline is pumping. I soften my drag and use a CB or Topwater rod. last night I got a hit on the WP as it hit the water and I missed. The next came on the retrieve and was landed. That is usually the case with me. On a side note, try to prevent the jump, which can be difficult on a long cast, but anticipate it when close to the boat. It’s a big bait and has a lot of swing weight

Only had time for a couple hours this evening but the top water bite was on. Got to say that the Impulse Zell Rowland Rod is awesome. The fish in the pic was 21 inches ( couldn’t zero the scale )

Fluorocarbon.........Neutrally Bouyant
Very true!.....I am testing it before I make a public review, but I am testing pureline for worm/jig and silky for topwaters and so far they are incredible. Will start a separate thread soon

Fluorocarbon.........Neutrally Bouyant
While pureline is less know, the diameter on Fins and Gamma make them sink like a rock once surface tension is broken
-
Fluorocarbon.........Neutrally Bouyant
Heck, why not include braid? There are many braids that get CB deeper due to diameter. Some braids like Hitena Pureline even have abrasion resistance
